Keep on keeping on sir. It really does take awhile for folks to wade through the weeds and find the good stuff. And that's where you are at. Thanks for the video.////bill
Ive just bought this reel - this reel must be the inspiration for Abu Suveran.:Worm gear , center brake and a very compact body .The two reels even look alike. But that aside this reel looks like a spaceship from a B movie. Very cool !
I've tried to buy a Heddon 200 a couple times, but could not come to agreement on price with the sellers. This reel is definitely an anomaly not seen in any other reel. This video is an answer to my hope that one day someone would do a teardown of the Heddon 200, Rick!
Dan, there’s plenty of 100s out there but the 200 reels seem to be a bit more difficult to find. I waited to do this reel and the Pelican 1020 until I was feeling better. I was hoping for a greater response from the viewers but they just don’t seem to like the old unusual reels as much as the more common high production stuff. I’m really intrigued by the ingenuity of some of the early reels and how they worked around others patents. The roller ball anti reverse in this, is the predecessor to the instant anti reverse clutches of today. I’m glad you liked this reel. Interesting enough, Young Martin’s Reel became 3 years old the day before I released this video. So far, I’m up to 504 videos. I’m sure I’ll have to stop one day but I don’t plan on it being anytime soon.
Steve, that spring is less than half the size of a ballpoint pen spring. I might try making another spring but I wanted to get the video finished and posted so I stopped trying.

thank you for the interesting video
My pleasure.
I have wondered for a while what one of these reels looked like on the inside, thanks. A lot of drag for a small reel.
They really didn’t skimp on the drag for this one.

Rick, I wonder if a spring from a ball point pen would work? Would be readily available , and cheap.
