I gulped when the line break on my 154 crumbled to pieces. I tried this fix and the reel is working like new. I found a clear grommet that fit right on there. Thanks.
just ran across this one. i have a few with this problem, but one of my favorites is this one . i thought all hope was lost, lol, but i dont toss away reels and this one and a few others are about to get new life in them . thanks , kenny d.
Just keep in mind this isn't the only option to repairing the spinner cone brake. Get creative and see what you can find at the hardware store. One guy mentioned that he used the plumbing seal for an 1 1/2 pipe. He said it worked perfectly. Thanks for watching and commenting and good luck! Get that reel back to work.
Hope it works for you. I repaired another one recently and had to sand down the black grommet a little more to get it to work and not pinch the line or prevent it from casting.
News Flash!!!! There are rubber grommets and O rings that come in generic plumbing washer kits at most Plumbing and Hardware sores, Lowes and HD Also that stretch over the the metal bracket that once held the Plastic piece and snap right down on it. I've done 4 of these repairs over the years on 33s and they still hold up and guess what no glueing. In most P?umbing stores they also have a pull out drawer that has every O ring you would ever need. They have the one that replaces the rubber brake that usually are brittle on some Barn Find 33s.
@@OutFishing13Matthew I thought so too just ensure to pick out the brittle pieces with a tooth pick or paper clip. Working on a yoke for the winding axle to replace the plastic piece that keeps the gears snug.
I had to modify my grommet to make a shim. Try using a 1/4 brass grommet to start with. Use the flat part of the 2 piece grommet. Or like the other guy mentions, get some brass shim material and punch out your own shim.
Dear Sir I have Zebco Omega Pro Spincast Fishing Reel, Size 30 Reel (2011) but i'm so sorry it crashed one of the pins which encircling the line not doing its job it has three steel pin Stanley Head Assenpley malfunctioned I am from Turkey
I wonder if the spring came off that spinner cone pin? Does the reel still work? If the pick-up is totally broken, you could remove the 1 pick-up pin and the reel would still work well with just two pick up pins. You can order a part from Zebco.com. The part number for that spinner cone assembly is QE310. It might be hard to get parts to Turkey.

@@OutFishing13Matthew yea , i guess it doesnt have to be soft rubber, but then again that piece may be too hard and compromise the line. ?
@@kennyd.2756 The newer line brakes are plastic. If you can dent it with your fingernail, it will be okay to use.
I like the idea that you had and the way that you made it work for you.
Thanks. There are a few other ways to repair these to make them work.
Excellent solution! And, thanks for the idea!
You are welcome. I hope it helps out others who have the same issue.
Great fix! I have 2 Zebco 600's with the same problem. Going to give this a try.

That is an interesting idea. I glued mine on, but I can see that putting a big grommet on would work really well. thanks for sharing!

Let me how that repair holds up after water hits it I have several spinners that need that kind of repairs for 33s an a 404
Surprisingly it holds up pretty well. A guy could find a stronger adhesive
