  • Learn how to make shower/bath body conditioning bars that are fun & easy! You can apply the butter side directly to skin like lotion, use it as a bath melt, or as a rinse off body conditioner - either way, your skin will be extremely moisturized!
    RECIPE
50 grams butter (murumuru), 20 grams stearic acid, 25 grams coconut oil (expeller pressed), 15 grams polysorbate 80, 10 grams fragrance oil, 50 grams baking soda, 25 grams citric acid, 5 grams SLSa sodium lauryl sulfoacetate. I recommend murumuru butter. I tried 8 other butters & countless recipes & murumuru butter performed the best all the way around. I tried other hardeners/waxes as well and stearic acid worked the best. The dry ingredients create action in the water; you may add more or less. If you wanted just a lotion bar, leave the dry ingredients out & add more hardener like a wax or stearic acid
Melt together butter & stearic acid. Add coconut oil, polysorbate 80, & fragrance. Mix ingredients together well. Pour a tiny amount of the liquid into a few different cups & add color. In a separate container, sieve together dry ingredients & mix well. Add dry ingredients to the white [uncolored] liquid butter mixture & mix well. Place mold on a flat mobile surface. For beautiful pops of color, add tiny amounts of different colors first. Now fill each cavity with white mix; mix it as you pour as it will start to separate. Add any remaining liquid/mixture. For interesting color patterns, like swirls, use a sharp object to drag the color around. Freeze for 15 minutes, unmold the bars while frozen, then allow bars to reach room temperature (rest on counter for about 3 hours).
This recipe makes 6 bars exactly. The bars start melting at around 85 degrees Fahrenheit The bar will naturally divide in the middle. One side will be buttery & melts when rubbed on skin but the other side is thick where the dry ingredients sank & doesn’t melt so easily. You can Use the butter side just like lotion. Or use the entire bar as rinse off body conditioner - this technique doesn’t moisturize as much as the others (which is perfect for me). For maximum conditioning, take some of the floating butter & rub it into your skin. It creates an impenetrable layer of moisture that smells amazing. The tub may be slippery so please be careful!

Should I add more stearic acid to my mix as it's so hot in Florida they are too soft. They are amazing though.
