  • Today I'm giving you color recipes! For more tutorials like this, COLOR PLAYLIST: • Color
    Mix 15 milliliters of hot water & 1/4 teaspoon of dye. Keep it as liquid OR make color powder.
    COLOR RECIPES: Measured in drops. You may have to adjust color recipes, but this gives you a general idea.
    RED 28 + YELLOW 5
    bubble gum = 5 red + 1 yellow. Orange = 5 yellow + 3 red. Gold = 9 yellow + 1 red. Coral = 5 red + 5 yellow.
    BLUE 1 + YELLOW 5
    Aqua = 7 blue + 1 yellow. Turquoise = 7 blue + 3 yellow. Teal = 7 blue + 5 yellow. Emerald = 7 yellow + 5 blue. Green = 7 yellow + 3 blue. Lime = 7 yellow + 1 blue.
    BLUE 1 + RED 28
    Magenta = 7 red + 1 blue. Purple = 7 red + 3 blue. Violet = 7 red + 5 blue. Royal = 7 blue + 5 red. Navy = 7 blue + 3 red. Cornflower Blue = 7 blue + 1 red.
    I made half bombs with a 1.5" mold. Ingredients are from a standard recipe: 18 grams dry mix, 1 milliliter wet, + 7-10 drops of color.
    *WHEN USING COLOR*: Unless it’s a small amount, deduct the same amount of liquid OR dry ingredients for the colorant added. {Example: I add 1.5 milliliters of liquid colorant, so I need to deduct 1.5 milliliters of wet ingredients (if possible, water).}
    WHY COLOR POWDER? You can achieve the exact shade (even pastel) that you're going for. You see the color as you're mixing it. For bath bombs, It doesn't activate the mix. And you can create multiple colors in 1 batch.
    WHY LIQUID: Liquid color achieves brighter/bolder colors easily. FOR BOMBS: single colored bath bombs, liquid is probably easiest. Liquid color should be added to wet ingredients. So, you have to make a batch for each color. Also, trying to mix liquid colors to get an exact shade is very tough (unless you have color recipes). You won't know the final shade until it's mixed & you can't add or subtract liquid color after it's mixed. This is where color powder will save you.
    WHEN TO USE LIQUID? Definitely always use liquid colorant for soap & for whipped or creamy consistency formulations like whipped soap, lotion, body scrub, etc. I found this out when making whipped lotion. Color powder (especially dark colors) may leave tiny flecks of powder color that ends up looking like dirt in creamy formulations. Plus, use liquid for quick adjustments in bath products that don't activate from wet ingredients.

    Dora, thank you girl! I have been wanting to make my scrubs and whipped soap pop with color and here you are, explaining it all. And I already have the primary color dyes but was afraid to or didn't know how to use them correctly. You are a genius with a skill for explaining and teaching a process. Keep on with your creative content and thanks again for empowering me with knowledge.

    Do you have a color recipe for a dark blood color, almost a deep vampire red? I'm having a hard time with this deep red. Also, any recommendations for a black color powder?

    Do you have to bloom the colours together in order to mix them? Or, can you add say, blue powder and red powder to make your purple after it has dried?

      Either way is fine. Just make sure you know the exact color you're making if mixing them in liquid phase.

      Nope! They suck! lol Not really, but kind of. I've emailed them & BEGGED them many times to please offer discounts or promo codes or SOMETHING. but they gave me BS about how that would "eat their profit margin". RIDICULOUS! But their dyes are great!

    I wonder how fast the color fades when you use the dye. I kept the bath bomb in the shade, but I feel the color fades quickly.

      I keep getting this question/comment & I guess Ill have to do experiments. the truth is, bath bombs don't last in my house. I use them or bath bomb-thirsty friends of mine come over & take them lol. My BFF Niki & her 2 teen daughters are the WORST! haha [It's totally my fault. I've turned them into bath bomb whores- I meant hoarders... 😜]

    This is a great tutorial, but I’m super confused. When you say the formulas are in drops does this mean you make each blue yellow and red in the 15mil as instructed as a base than make your bath bomb mixture and measure out enough for one small ball than add the drops for the recipe such as 1drop red (from the powder mixed into the 15mil of water) and 3drops blue to the small bomb?
    Furthermore if you mix the 15mil in the cornstarch I would then assume you would just mix the ratios 1:3 to get the same colors in powder?
    Sorry I have watched the video several times and read the info I’m just not quite understanding. Also the comment regarding starting with liquid dyes and still having to mix them with water was super helpful. I would have thought the same as the other person did.

    How do you store your bloomed liquid colorants? In fridge? If not, how long on shelf life? I ask because of water being included and I can’t help but wonder about the possibility of bacterial growth, etc. Just wondering because I would really love to have some liquid colorants on hand and play with your awesome color combinations!

    • @Soylarimar
      @Soylarimar Рік тому +1

      I was wondering the same… but maybe is too concentrated so it’s self preserved? She also probably goes through it fast enough where that’s not an issue for her.

    • @scruboutcancer4752
      @scruboutcancer4752 Рік тому

      @@Soylarimar yes, I am pretty sure she goes through them quickly. But I know I would not so I definitely hope she gets a chance to answer for us. :-)

      Hey hey hey. Sorry this is late. I am just getting caught up on all communication. anyway, I store them in the liquid containers as you've seen. I have had some colors for a couple months now, some up to a year. I have had no bacterial growth so far- & I use regular faucet water, too! But the real truth is that I am just decently getting turned on to the liquid bloomed dye (before I was gung-ho for color powder). So, I'll just have to update you guys IF it does turn rancid. which I honestly don't see that happening.

    question, if i have the primary liquid colors, does that mean i skip the color dye and water process? i mean do i use it full strength to make other colors?

    • @scootiebootie3553

      i did go back thru your other vids but in them you start with powdered dye. what is the recipe if i am starting with liquid dyes? i have red, blue, green, and yellow.????

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  Рік тому +2

      Scootie Bootie, you can NOT ever skip the water process for dyes. They MUST be bloomed NO MATTER WHAT (before you use them)- It doesn't matter if you're leaving it liquid, or making color powder, or just blooming a little bit at a time for single batches of bath bombs. DYE MUST BE BLOOMED (DISSOLVED IN WATER) FIRST, NO MATTER WHAT, BEFORE YOU USE THEM IN ANYHTHING!
