100% agree. I was EXTREMELY excited to see the Pennsylvania hunting challenge collaboration, which included Jeff and other notable hunters. These youtube videos are my life right now in pre-rut. Keep up the good work guys!
You guys are awsome. Luv your vids. Hunting in massachusettes. Friday is gonna drop about 15 degrees also might get some snow. 1 day before the rut moon. I'll be out all day.
Man Jeff is the shit, pardon my language but I've gotten so much information from that man over the years from not just his Vlogs but borrowing my dads books lol and that man is one of the men I look up to with everything he shares and does and the wisdom. Thanks again guys for another great interview.
What about pre-storm or pre-cold front conditions. I have had many times on the way home from work that I see deer and turkeys out feeding before these types of conditions.
Great info guys !! love this podcast .. our opener for bow is oct 1st in ny. ..prob to hot to hunt first day ..prob wait ..Few days .. but watched this last night on big screen .. this really helps narrow prime days ..down as we all have families etc.. to make the our days count .. and carefully choose Awsome approach ! Have a great season brothers ...nick
any day out in the woods is the day to be there. you have 0% chance of success at home. no day is a "for sure" day, but just being out there increase your chances ten-fold. i'll stay home if it's raining or hurricane winds, other than that, every day is a good day.
I'm wondering if you have any consideration, or explanation for mid day movement. I have on several occasions found that after leaving my stand just off the bedding areas, then returning to the same stand for evening sit, there was the Big boy, bedding 20 yards from my stand, Just 4 hours later?? Yes, he got up and ran off! It was a very nice warm blue bird day. I am something of a moon hunter, I have seen too many times the big deer move during moon over head, and moon under foot, during the mid day... I'm just curious if any of you have any input for the mid day movement, pre rut..?? BTW, I really appreciate this info and the knowledge you share. I have been hunting for 35 plus years. I've seen some crazy stuff as far as big buck movement, and I have always tried to dial in the 50 % or better days, But I really enjoy being out in the woods every day..
They will come check u out! Few hours after your scent cools down; wondering if another stand a ways away wouldn't work if you walked out like you were done ,and snuck back and hunted the other stand ! I saw a giant that way😱
Is a good hunting day generally after the weather and temperature change or are there instances where the good hunting days are prior to the weather change?
So I’m confused. In your closing statements about how the coldest part of the forcast is the next morning, (I understand that part) but in all of this, you’re saying the deer stay bedded to conserve energy in the coldest temps, so you want to time your hunt for when the temps improve for them? So morning hunts aren’t the best time when it’s really cold? Earlier in the podcast you mentioned that deer movement is 30% greater in the morning vs evening. (Not that weather would not trump that, but, interesting that morning movement is more even though a lot of those mornings they may stay in bed because of cold weather)
Do you hold a job 5-6 days a week? I hear the travel times and multi state ventures on multiple properties in each state. When do you swing a hammer, take a wrench to a pipe, operate a machine, drive a truck.....
@@ExodusOutdoorGear my point is that most of Americans that do hunt are not on corporate payrolls to push products on the rest of us. Why not have a segment about MLP's and LLC's that these super hunters are incorporated under. How they write off at a lower tax bracket all "donated" goods they receive that WE have to pay through our teeth for.Why most souther states are more liberal with the MLP's and LLC's. Then there are the states that anyone can write off anything as long as the trustee mentions the Lords name during the broadcast. All companies related to hunting/fishing "donate", sponsor broadcast. Those companies have to show write offs to Uncle Sam "IRS". They have to be donated to a recipient . That recipient is NOT going to claim such donations an unearned capital gains on personal tax forms for the retail value of the item being donated. Thus the MLP,LLC. It's business not a sport as it once was. How something that once was so simple and pure and fun is now twisted into greed for a chosen few. We'll all wait patiently for that broadcast to appear on here or the television....
I believe in this weather formula but it seems to focus on hunting on the backside of a weather change. Over the years I have also experienced a good amount of mature buck activity on the front side of a storm, whether snow or rain.
@@raymondcovey6461 Yes, it's popularly known and my observation and experience is that fish and game are more active during the approach of bad weather, and less active during the bluebird days after. No doubt this guy has a honed working formula. But after 3 viewings of the video, I'm still not sure which part of it he actually hunts. If "after" works for deer, that'd be great. I could fish during the approach without worrying that I'm swapping prime hunting time hunt after it passes. I -- and most humans -- actually prefer the post storm blue bird periods for being active outdoors, -- sans the activities due to the approach of Hurricane Dorian -- i'm in Florida in Sept, 2019 -- so maybe the deer have more in common with their fellow animals -- us -- than with fish.
@@partner348 Glad I'm not the only one who watched it and was wondering what the actual formula was/is and why it's not clearly stated. They just seem to ramble on and his monotone voice makes it difficult to follow.
All this info is great but if your hunting like I am 6000 acres of state land in New York and there aren’t the types of bucks you guys are lucky to hunt on my track then this doesn’t really mean to much . The moon doesn’t mean much but Adam Hayes hunts strictly by the moon and shot 4 -200 class deer again to me it doesn’t mean much . I would be lucky to have 1 or 2 bucks that score maybe 110 or 120 on my track. The bottom line is I hunt when I can it could be a 100% day to hunt deer if it’s Wednesday and I need to work then oh well that’s that. You gents are very lucky to have the type of deer on your food plots and great tracks n Illinois and Wisconsin or Iowa we regular hunters don’t have the luxury you guys have or the deer.
I note that you have "tangboy" in your name. Tang is a drink or another name for pussy. So is it, drinkboy, or pussyboy? And drinkboy just doesn't fit your comment, and I don't think there's such thing as a drinkboy, so I'm guessing yours is in reference to the latter, or were you trying to spell Ass-tang-boy?
Dudes this is great! Sturgis is the man!
The Hunting Public thanks fellas! Agreed, we have a ton of respect for Jeff!
It really is, the guy knows his stuff. For people that can't hunt everyday (such as myself) his knowledge is bucking fantastic

Do you want the temp drop day or day prior or after?
........thanks......
@@WesternNyBigfoot Yea I watched the vid 3 times. Good vid but some vagaries, or incomplete info, or I just missed it.

I blame down here in south Mississippi the rut for deer starts around December 25th to December 30th
I see the quality content. I’m tuned in now! 😊
Branden Waters thanks!
Another great show guys! Thanks!

4 years later and I still hope someone got Jeff a drink. That man is parched.

Thanks to Jeff and you all for sharing this.
I really wished he hunted the southern states. It seems like a different ballgame up north. I need to pay for a hunt in the Midwest.
Record high temps in Michigan this past week. Rain followed by a drop from 70s to 50 means business should explode
He loves his licking vines, he’s got me putting them in every flat In the holler.
Another question.
You are hunting primarily feeding areas?
