I am a big believer in hanging vines. I have had great success with shorter pieces of vine that you recommend. I have found as the vine hangs at about 4', deer will use it. I also make sure I use a natural twine to tie them up.

Do you need to spray it with a doe p or anything at first to get the interest going?

I’m just learning about timber and deer focused land management. How do you learn to identify which trees are best for hinge cutting? I have heard in several videos aspen, birch, and elm.

Hey Jeff. Love the content. Those tanks are crazy expensive. Any other alternatives for water holes?

Pay a guy $100 for 30 minutes of work digging you one in. Find a low spot with good clay component in soil. Not hard and way better than buying and burying a tub

I’d take what Jeff says about water holes with a grain of salt. I’ve watched all of his videos and he will say one thing then say the complete opposite in the next video. I’ve heard him say in one video that deer won’t drink from a natural water source like a spring if you were to dig it out. He said they would rather drink from a warm muddy water hole than a clean cold water source. But then just a few videos later he had a group of people out on his property asking him questions and the very first question was about making a water hole on a natural water source and he said that it would be a great spot for a water hole literally the opposite of what he said just a few videos before.

I've done waterholes with with visqueen/tarps. Basically dig your hole put down the plastic sheet, cover with rocks, dirt, whatever you have and fill with water. Basically same idea as a pool liner.
