      +Jeff Porcaro Groove Master Your comments are sad and a joke. This is a bash, not a drum clinic. There is something wrong with you if you don't think that a drummer of Brian's caliber couldn't play the song note for note if he chose. Brian is about celebrating these players in his events, not imitating them.

      Yeah, getting a little exhuberent for my tastes too. The fills have to be very selective in Kashmir not to fuck up the vibe. Brian goes a bit ham on things for sure.

    Right the fuck on Brian...saw John H Bonham play 19 times, it was like watching God play drums, and he always got the biggest standing ovation of the night (from Zep,yikes)...So in all these years, Micheal Derosier came close in the mid seventies, Cozy kind of, Michael Lee (Plant and Page) was the first drummer I ever saw nail Bonham with the ideas, chops, and feel..and now Brian shows he really understands what JB was about, yes, Bonham's looking down with pride, kudo's and respect to Brian because they are impossible shoes to fill...RIP Michael Lee you are missed, and to my all time hero, John, there is/was no one one earth who ever drummed like you ever, thanks for being a humble beautiful man and setting the drum bar so insanely high that centuries on kids will hear 'good times bad times' and go 'WTF was that..BEST DRUMMER EVER..

      Thank you! And yes, RIP Michael Lee... and .... Derosier rules!!!! My second favorite groove of all time, Bonzo, then Derosier, then maybe Gadd, Jamie Oldaker (Clapton) and John Siomos (Frampton), Clyde Stubblefield, and Al VH!

If I had to guess he’s been in many other bands and has his on style. Like every instrument every one has a different voice and that’s what makes it a uniquely great tribute. Ok, now I’m overthinking it 😆. Awesome roll on the kettle drums 🤘

    @ Joesfosterdogs: This is not a copy/paste competition. Each drummer is encouraged, if they want too, to play these songs according their own feel. It brings more color to the show.

    • @tlezzy8252
      @tlezzy8252 10 років тому +1

      if your gonna cover it ...play it right on. Only reason not to is if the band changes the whole sound or tempo of the song. People dont want your version they want bonzo's version just MHO...peace

    • @Joesfosterdogs
      @Joesfosterdogs 10 років тому +1

      TL Ezzy
      yeah...sorry...but this is a tribute...I get the stamp your own signature thing...but there are signature moments of every tune, the classic in my book is Steve Smith's 5/4 fill on Separate Ways...you HAVE to play that fill if you cover that tune. This guy didn't even play Bonham's snare fill that is so classic ending out the verse. In the end, all these tribute bands allow us to realize how magical Zep was even if Page ripped off most of their hits.

    @Jeff Porcaro Groove Master but that's the point. It's a tribute. Yes keep the initial groove and play key parts but it's also a little bit if these guys saying "hey bonham here's a little bit of my style contributed to you". So it's not going to be 100% hit for hit.

    allright finally someone got one right just missing the slow double in main beat ... IMO still nice job some say it was a recording trick that got that odd double sound or maybe better said odd time 2 single strokes ... at least one of the two notes that's the way I hear it But I must say even bonzo in the live versions I've found does not always play it either. Studio version, as I hear it, as alternateing between single double.. so snare, foot, snare, foot, foot w/ second foot in a odd place just slightly- like a delay effect. I do it with a slow toe heel most times... other times heel down depends which ones working better : } peace

    • @teeoh9192
      @teeoh9192 8 років тому

      +TL Ezzy Regardless of whatever "studio trickery" might've been involved, it just doesn't sound the same with straight single beats. I agree about the alternating single/double strokes on the bass drum, but, it's not like he couldn't have AT LEAST done THAT. I play it that way, cuz just doing double strokes doesn't sound right either. Bonham's imperfections, is what made his playing so perfect. The ONLY beat of his that's impossible to recreate live is, "When The Levee Breaks". Even if you played the snare parts with ghost notes, they'd get lost in a loud, live setting.

    • @alexscott730
      @alexscott730 5 років тому

      It was no trickery.It's just a ghost note that follows the 8th.And maybe the pedal wasnt adjusted right for that.

    • @harleythomas4866
      @harleythomas4866 5 років тому

      In my opinion I think it's because sometimes the beater bounces a little giving a "double" sound.. probably Bonzo just being Bonzo though..also it's in "when the levee breaks"..it sounds like a double to me so that's how I play it but many drummers on UA-cam play it as one hit.. I play as 1e others play as 1 .. anyway that's my take on it.. realized these comments are yrs old but just wanted to throw in my 2cents.. have a great day guys

Brian actually in person explained what you indicate and its actually a fascinating aspect of what made John Bonham great.
