Norman's grandfather being secretive about his age reminds me of my grandmother not revealing her age to anyone.(My father knew, but he rarely told.)Grandma finally revealed she was 91 when I was 22.

In the car with Betty/Steven, how does Sandy know that Mr. Peyton wants Betty to be with Rodney?? Sandy doesn't know about the stolen will and its contents. Please help explain.
Sandy doesn't know about the will. She is jealous of Betty and of the attention Rod pays Betty. All Sandy know is that Rod and Betty were married and now Betty is married to Steven. To Sandy, Betty gets all the cool guys while Sandy is left in the dust.... Sandy doesn't know the hell Betty went through while married to Rod. Yeah, we're supposed to feel sorry for Sandy, what with all that sappy music they played after Steven and Betty drove off. I don't feel a bit sorry for her. Glad she's gone.
@@suki44883 I definitely think the writers were trying a little too hard to redeem her and make her more sympathetic; but the character was going nowhere.
Going against the grain, I actually like Sandy and her 'gutter courage'. Think of all the young women from the 'wrong side of the tracks' in Peyton Place. Betty (the original 'bad girl') tricked Rod into marrying her with the pregnancy bit, only to then luck out with Stephen Cord and the 'Pygmalion treatment' from Martin. Rita used to be the plaything of Joe Chernak, Kitch, etc. but then lucked out with Norman as a loving, doting, stable partner. Speaking of Chernaks, there was Stella, but she lucked out with brains and a scholarship, enabling her to become a biochemist. And then there was Rachel, who was practically a feral wild child when Rita and Norman discovered her, only to be given the red carpet 'Allison 2.0' treatment from Eli, Dr Rossi and Connie. Sandy? She wound up being abused by Lee, a third-string 'friend with benefits' for Rod (to be turned to after Betty and Rachel) and 'shut up and get out, Sandy' for nearly everyone else. Sandy's had to look out for Sandy, albeit sometimes not with the best decisions (such as not taking Peyton's money!). Still, I'd like to see her happy in California, maybe hanging out with friends/a partner in a non-toxic environment and telling them 'you would not believe the place where I used to live...'
And the sages words I’m just getting along that’s all saying someone antiquated young people don’t even know it if you said it to them here they probably don’t understand it outside the context in which it is delivered yet isn’t it wonderful to see an older person who still has all their cognition city and power being yes being

Sandy showed class throwing the money in Peyton's face.
Sandy showed stupidity. Like Sandy can afford throwing the money away. But marrying Lee and sticking with him pretty stupid, too. Stupid Sandy.

Martin Peyton has used everyone, including Betty, to get what he wants. How insulting to Betty to try to wreck her marriage.

Betty....yeah....someone who Martin supposedly developed a bond with. :-(

Sad for sandy.
I don't. She should have left with Chris. There would have been lots of guys in California for her to grab onto.

I've had ppl tell me I'm acting like a woman if I don't reveal my age. Maybe I could say I'm like a woman if I haven't already.
I saw a guy on Sunday Night Football tell his co host he wasn't as old as him.
The Rachel storyline is tiresome.
Agreed. Very tiresome. Rachel is supposed to be the new Allison. No way.
The worst!
I've had ppl ask how old I am and if I get evasive they pressure me.
It's easy enough to say it's none of their business. I don't react well to pushy people.
A good reply is " I'll forgive you for asking, if you forgive me for not answering"!!
Connie helped pick out that outfit Rossi bought Rachel and she never takes it off.
...yet
