So wonderful to see the extended Bauer family together, including Bert, Mike, Ed, Hillary, Hope, Holly, Freddy (Rick), Christina (Blake), and Steve. I would have loved to see previous Christmas episodes involving Papa Bauer, Leslie, and Peggy. Amazing that Rick and Phillip would be best friends for the next 30 years.
Now this is the Guiding Light back in the days when I could identify with the characters. It was like they were all part of my family and I couldn't wait to rush home and turn my television on.
Christmas is a time of joy, family and friends. At this time on GL, I was glad that Roger Thorpe did not try to ruin anyone's Christmas knowing he was lurking around Springfield after being found out that he was actually alive after being shot by Holly a few months earlier.
Young Phillip Spaulding! These scenes are Doug Marland DOWN! ❤ It's amazing how Rick and Blake were then known as Freddie and Christina. Elizabeth was so aristocratic!
When this episode was broadcast, it was my dad's first day of retirement. He had officially retired on Friday, the 21st, and we spent the weekend celebrating his milestone. But this day he awoke a non-worker. I do not know if he watched this soap or not.
Does anyone see that Elizabeth and Hope look like they could be sisters? No wonder Alan fell in love with Hope. He could not get Elizabeth back so he found a look a like in Hope Bauer .
I generally liked Mike, but he was an absolute PRICK going after his own daughter's husband .... it was WAY more personal than it was about "justice". If he were the DA or even a cop I could understand ... but he was just a shmuck lawyer ...
Christmas on the old soaps used to be so special.

Thank you for posting this I love watching these old shows from when I was a child!
You're welcome. :-)
the picture quality is great
Wow! I had forgotten that when Rick Bauer was a child he was referred to as Freddie.

I love it! Memories...
Lezlie Dalton was so beautiful.
The Marlers! Almost forgot Ross had a sister. After Justin and Sam left is the 1990s, Ross was all alone. Until Ben of course.
I loved Bert Bauer!

Love how those tie blouses are now back in style for women minus the puffed shoulders.
Cindy Pickett is left-handed!!
Soap opera writers have no idea what nurses actually do. 🤦🏼♀️

Only a soap could take the joy and wonder of Christmas and make it sad and depressing. Merry Christmas, sob.
When do we greet our baby daddy with a handshake a la Jackie/Justin? 😉
Does anyone know why they started calling Freddy "Rick"?
His given name is Frederick. When he came back from boarding school he told everyone he wanted to be called Rick now.
@@jrvandore I was just about to say that. 😛
I'm sorry to say this but Hope is so self righteous when it comes to her defending Alan considering the way she felt about him not long ago!

True, I liked him but he was hard on Hope and Alan's relationship. He ended up being right though.
