If I had to do this I would have used Square runners. Know they are more expensive but far better on wear and accuracy. You put so much effort into this it would deserve the best parts. The round bars on the extruded aluminum must be annealed to be able to drill and tap. Do they get het hardening right after tapping? the answer is no if it is not the same bar manufacturer. The slides will wear into the round bar at load in no time.
Frankly that's magnificent. The problem for me would be that building the CNC itself might be more fun and more rewarding than what what I might ever build WITH it. One thing for sure, you're doing this because you want to, not because you need to. A Phantom Shadow is only $23,100.
The technique for aligning and squaring the rails with common shop equipment (other than the beam straightedge which isn't common) is pretty brilliant. I have been stumbling over how to do this in my garage. I also never thought to align the cross table supports to the already installed gantry and z axis assembly...that will be a real time saver. I am wondering if Mr. Craft is a Millwright to have such knowledge?
My build would be so much easier if I could find a deal on a nice beam straitedge like that! Is he using the CD reflection to make sure he is running the drill motor perpendicular to the plate? Thats pretty cool.
One way to check for twist is to use the two wires method with a multimeter set in continuity mode. Hook one end of one wire to the positive lead and the other to the negative lead. When the two wires touch, you'll hear a beep.
Excellent work, I loved the CNC and it's envious, post a video of it in real work so we can enjoy this work. By the way, what was your total expense? Compared to one sold on Aliexpress, how much was the difference, besides of course the pleasure of creating it? Congratulations! I hope you make good use of it!🙂
Also for the ball screw bearings you would need 2x 7000 deep groove series opposing bearings. This might be ok for a machine with 0.3mm accuracy and 0.1mm backlash - which is maybe what you may get from round bar and runners..
Nice Video! I agree with the other comments - you do have some nice “tricks“ for the assembly. I'll have to try the CDROM method sometime. BTW: Where did you source the Spindle? Are you happy with it?
Beautiful machine. If I were to build one, I’d make it so that the legs can be removed and the entire frame for that matter. This machine was apparently built in a small room which means they’re going to have trouble getting it out should they decide to move. They will most likely end up knocking down a wall. Anyway, all the best of them.
When I do the crossed cord height alignment I always use two cords in one of the directions. The other crossing cord then passes between them. You can then see exactly when the heights are correct.
Hello. Everything is beautiful and interesting. Question ? Maybe it would be better to buy a ready-made factory machine and start earning money right away! What to do with a stupid job?
Nice, you stole the Idea from New Yorkshire Workshop and made a great Job. I love such Videos of "Low Budget Selfmade High End Stuff" thats works really really nice!
Hope you never, like ever, have to move that beast of a machine! Well done!
forgive me but you did not build a home made machine you have made a beast!! great job.
That trick with the CD was genius!
Very well done. A great example of building accuracy.
You have a ridiculous amount of patience…… well done 👍🏼👍🏼
The sheer amount of love and effort put into this machine is commendable. Very nice setup!
Dude must be planing to CNC an entire building with this thing!

wow, master project! RESPECT
What a machine, great workmanship. Thanks for sharing some fabulous accuracy tips,

You guys are brilliant
Thank you🙏

Until you price the beam straight edge then your back to square one (at least I am)
My build would be so much easier if I could find a deal on a nice beam straitedge like that! Is he using the CD reflection to make sure he is running the drill motor perpendicular to the plate? Thats pretty cool.
WAOOOOO ITS AMAZING I NEVER SEE BEFORE
no word on movie, no word at comments :) great job sir :) This is not elementary book of machines... go to school ladies ;-D

Neat
Craftsmanship a 100😮 great work
That’s awesome. We want to see more! What can this thing make?
Also I want to know how you installed a vacuum system on this.
Nice work👍👍👍
well done M craft loving your machine looks supper cool and well built😀
Cool trick with the cd
1:06 now that is a controller I would kill for…😂😂
man i am 3 min into the video and those two hacks with the cd and the thin wire.....niiiiiice i love them
Congratulations, very good ! If you use hiwin linear rails results will be better!
Very nicely done.
amazing cnc build !
Hello my friend. Well done
Excellent work, I loved the CNC and it's envious, post a video of it in real work so we can enjoy this work. By the way, what was your total expense? Compared to one sold on Aliexpress, how much was the difference, besides of course the pleasure of creating it? Congratulations! I hope you make good use of it!🙂
This device now owns that room because there is no possible way to remove it. Nice.
Also for the ball screw bearings you would need 2x 7000 deep groove series opposing bearings. This might be ok for a machine with 0.3mm accuracy and 0.1mm backlash - which is maybe what you may get from round bar and runners..
Nice one! I would love to have one myself
BRAVO!!!
Thanks)
Nice Video! I agree with the other comments - you do have some nice “tricks“ for the assembly. I'll have to try the CDROM method sometime.
BTW: Where did you source the Spindle? Are you happy with it?
Very impressiv 👍👍👍
Well done
great work!
I would however have a question, why did you choose the rack and pinion system, rather than a ball screw system?
Machine too big for ballscrews, he need 25mm diameter for such length
nice build....the techniques you used is clever......which type of stepper motors are you using?
Good work!
Great job ❤❤ super
Good job, how did you solve the software side? Did i miss?
Beautiful
So satisfying
wonderful machine, friend, why at minute 3:30 do you use some threads, what is the objective of these threads?
This is in order to avoid a large skew (screw) on the table from the four points of the table, two thin fishing lines should be next to each other.
Smart guys

You just use a grinder
very good thanks
very nice !good job!!
this is a beast 🙂
Jestem pełen podziwu dla twórcy. 👍👍

You should hook a vacuum system up to the CNC.
trabalho perfeito !
"Что ты здесь ходишь всё вынюхиваешь" 😂
после слов (Что ты здесь ходишь всё вынюхиваеш) я немного напрягся :D
Я тоже повелся сначала, думал ребята заграничные, но когда услышал песню (бухгалтер) 😅
Мистэр, великолепно😊
so good
Jakie listwy zebate zastosowales moduł 2 czy 2.5
Greetings friend. I have a question, do you also use a creamyera in the Y axis transmission?
When I do the crossed cord height alignment I always use two cords in one of the directions. The other crossing cord then passes between them. You can then see exactly when the heights are correct.
Keren❤❤❤
What was the strength quality of aluminium when compared to metal is this last long.
The CD is a brilliant trick
How many motors are used for Y axes? 2? Or just one,
they for sure used 2, still very slow and bulky CNC no good project
hi great machine, i have a question, where do you get thr rails of this machine
Hello. Everything is beautiful and interesting. Question ? Maybe it would be better to buy a ready-made factory machine and start earning money right away! What to do with a stupid job?
It depends on how you want. Some people like homemade food and some likes to eat at restaurant.
Niubi!
what do you call that long bar that used for leveling?
respect

What is the thickness of Ms sheet for y gantry?
What is the size of the cutting area on this machine? X and Y
Topp
how is this homemade ? you have industrial equipment in your home ? sleep with a welding machine ?
What is the weight for the X axis bro
please tell me belt timing pulley gear ratio i think 1 ,2
why no using guiide liner , level using leser beam
please tell me belt timing pulley gear ratio for Y axis
It not homemade..it factorymade
Huge fail using the round rails instead of linear guide ways.
Make 4 axis CNC
Nice, you stole the Idea from New Yorkshire Workshop and made a great Job. I love such Videos of "Low Budget Selfmade High End Stuff" thats works really really nice!
Berapa ukuran mejanya?
2000х2000mm
Oke.. Terimakasih
you must be kidding ! what is the pression of this machine. I think it will be more than 5mm
Yep)))
