5 Tips for the BEST Chunky Chips in the Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer
Вставка

- In this video I'm sharing 5 tips for the best chunky chips in the Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer. Sometimes only a bowl of chunky chips will do, but there is a bit of a knack to cooking them up in the Instant Pot Duo Crisp and I've heard lots of people talking about chips sticking in air fryer basket. Don't worry, there are ways to reduce the risk of that happening. I've come to enjoy these Instant Pot chips more than traditionally fried chips, which are way too laden with fat for everyday eating. You can season them in so many different ways or just keep it simple with a bit of sea salt. Once you've mastered your very own version of perfectly air fried chips, there'll be no need to buy frozen chips ever again - saving money and space in your freezer! Hope this helps you on your own quest for the perfect chunky chip. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the tips, Susan! We do indeed have russet potatoes here in Canada, so I will have to give this a try!
Hope you enjoy Cathy!
I've just started one of these cookers and I was looking for a video to find out how to use to them especially the air fryer setting so thank you so much
Glad I could help Gavin. Chips for tea!
This is so helpful - thank you!

You're welcome Elizabeth 😊
This was super !!!!!
ah thank you Cassia
@@CookingandCalm , till today I was one of the ones trying to scrape things of the air Fryer basket. 🤦🏻♀️ This video was a game changer. Thank you !
You are so lovely! Thanks 💜💜💜
You are so welcome 😊
Loving your videos! And I have to say your smile puts a smile on my face after a long day :-)
Ahh thank you so much Frances - that is very much how I want people to feel here. A bit of calm from the storms and some good food 😊

I've been looking for a recipe like this ever since I purchased my DUO Crisp. I haven't used the air fryer lid yet, so the chunky chips will be my first use. I am not a fan of the skinny chips sold in most places but have a hunch this recipe will solve that once and for all.
Oh that's great to hear - a bit of experimenting and you should be able to get them exactly how you like them! Happy chipping 😊
Thank you for the tips! I recently got an IP Duo Crisp+Air fryer. I find your channel helpful. Have you tried Delay start? I'm wondering if it works for air frying.
So sorry for the delay Rose- your comment has been put in the review section for no apparent reason. Thank you so much for your kind comments. Yes I have used it for pressure cooking and it's brilliant. It doesn't work for air frying and that row of buttons next to it. You've probably discovered that by now! How's it all going with it?
Thank you for the infor now I can make perfect French fries.
You're welcome Alicia. Enjoy !
I will take care.
Thank you for this advice. I was so excited to try my new IP and I ended up with half raw and half burnt chips so here I am before attempting it again…
Yep, that’s happened to all of us. Over time you get the feel for your airfryer and in the meantime, extra potatoes or lots of ketchup ;)
Oh yes a chip butty 😍
in these days, comfort food is required :)
Just got the pro crisp 7.6l. A bit disappointed as no recipe book, Qr code for app sends me to Canadian or American sites. So you are a godsend. I cook for 3 or 4 adults, will I be able to cook chips for four? And have more the 6 each. Thank you.
Thank you Thomas. The problem with airfryers is that you generally need to keep food in one or at most two layers for them to go crisp, so it's fine for two people. I'm not sure you would get great results with more and would likely need to do in 2 batches. Hope that helps and you enjoy your IP
I was hoping that I could cook a whole meal with the instant pot e.g sausgae and chips/mash, or roast dinner. Any tips. or am I asking for the moon?
crisp
Hi Lesley, assuming you've got the Instant Pot Crisp (with air fryer lid) , yes you can do 2 layer cooking. Chips in the bottom of the basket and sausage on the silver tray that can sit at the top of the basket. Same with bacon etc. You can also do what's called 'pot in pot cooking' - eg. a curry or chilli in the bottom with rice cooking at the top layer. I also do whole roast chicken or chicken thighs with potatoes etc. Lots on the channel so have a zip through and shout me again if you can't find anything. One important thing I didn't see on this (Unless I missed it) is what temperature we should should us? It seems kind of important.
Hi Andy - thank you. Yes I should have highlighted the actual temperature rather than just saying AirFry Max - for me the max temp on AirFry is 204C, which is about 400F I think. I hope that helps.
@@CookingandCalm Yes it does, thanks.
Have you ever made instant pot air fryer carrot chips? I’d love to see a video on that 🧡
Hi Danielle - no I haven't but you got me interested as I've not heard of them! Do you mean 'chips' shaped like the thick cut potato ones in the video (sometimes called potato wedges in US). And are they covered in breadcrumbs or just the carrots in oil? Happy to have a go if you tell me a bit about how you would like them to be
@@CookingandCalm “Chips” more American style, thinner cut and flat, like what you run through a food processor in the slicing function. I was thinking just plain carrots with oil and herbs. Maybe olive oil with rosemary and sea salt? Or dill, or cumin with coconut oil?
Hi Susan, what temp on the Air fryer did you use for your chunky chips please?
Hi Lisa , I use the max setting which on the IP Duo crisp is 204 c, around 400F - hope that helps 😊👍
@Cooking and Calm thats great, thankyou! 😁
What temperature should you set the instant pot when air frying chips?
It sort of depends how you like them. You can just do them straight through on max 200c ish which is quickest or if I have more time I tend to start mine at 170 for 10m then up to max until done. (They're a bit more even that way) Hope that helps
What temperature is best?
Hi Matthew , it does vary a bit depending on the potato variety but I usually preheat & use between 190c and the Max setting. If you find yours are burning on the outside before fully cooked, start them a bit lower then blast them on full for the final 5 or so. I hope that helps
500 like from me ❤
thank you
How long do they take to air fry?
Hi there, depending on size of chips and power rating on air fryer , about 15-20 mins. Hope that helps 👍
Many thanks@@CookingandCalm

Have you played with making sweet potato fries yet ? I have not found a good top yet.
I am going to do some more experiments but I must admit I've not found any way of making them as crispy as white potatoes - I think it's just the basic composition is so different. I don't mind them smushy myself :)
@@CookingandCalm , I love sweet potato fries regardless, but I do see some people get it like in the restaurants using the air fryer. Thank you !
I'm definitely going to keep trying the different tips next time I have sweet potatoes :)
I followed her tips for sweet potatoes and purple potato fries and they turned out amazing. 15 minutes and nice and chunky and they’re soo good!
Thanks Sami - whose tips were they?
Those do look good. But please be careful. Those chips look awfully brown which means they contain high traces of Acrylamide. Never cook chips until brown like that and never above 180 degrees celcuis.
Thank you Ryno 👍
