People were complaining that I don't do long videos, but here you are, enjoy!
not even ten minutes isnt anywhere near long, sure its longer than the 30 second vids youve been doing lately.......but its not long, its SHORT AF, especially for a topic like this.
@@stapuft No pleasing some people 😮💨
@@ProtoMario its a good video, it just barely scratches the surface of the story behind the game/its legacy, which is what a "retrospective" is supposed to be, this is just a good review of a good game, not a retrospective.
Look, I do think this is a good video, but when the majority of the content I watch is about 10 minutes and a long video is at least 30 but usually up to an hour long, this video is standard length.
@@ProtoMario I've gotta agree. I'm gonna need at least a 24-hour review stream of this game, otherwise I will be left quite unfulfilled.
When I had a GameCube, I had no idea what the Metroid series was, or what this game was about. All I knew was it had gotten good reviews. I picked it up used and when I fired it up, I was immediately hooked and immersed in a game world in a way I had never experienced. It was truly a special and magical experience for me. I could sing this game's praises for all time. This game made me a gamer for life.
...the Kozo!? -.-
Nice retrospective! Can't get enough of Metroid Prime.
Played this for the first time with Prime Trilogy for Wii. Incredible game and the upgraded point and shoot controls are amazing.
Bought it last year and the disk won't read 😢 still heart broken.
Having only played this game recently, I can say this game is one of the best I've ever played. To be honest, the controls felt weird at first but I got used to them real fast, and hope that Metroid Prime 4 at least has an option for "throwback controls" or "legacy controls" whatever title makes sense.
I should say I played it on the gamecube, I probably wouldn't have liked it as much with motion controls since I am not much of a fan of them as anyone else who plays nintendo games.
in my opinion, this game was even BETTER on the wii(trilogy)! same thing for echo's too! playing these two games with FULL motion controls was an amazing experience! though, I can sort of get why some people would hate this on the wii... but in my opinion, this complaint probably would stem from people who just couldn't really adapt well to these new controllers to appreciate just how awesome that was.
And here again... ANOTHER BANGER. I most definitely didn't delay in commenting because I just got the notification. This was part of my master plan to see how many people would come through.
Imagine missing a ProtoMario video. Could NEVAR... BE... ME
just played through it earlier this year on an old monitor and using a wii. its a beautiful game.
i had to repurchase it and i also bought the second while i was at it. the atmosphere and polished graphics left an impression on me as a kid. i would compare the level of atmosphere and polish to halo.
Halo is boring….
@@Kapojos I can somewhat agree.
Metroid Prime has argueably one of the best OST's of all time and one of the most badass intros to a videogame ever.
So, who's here after a Remaster announcement and shadowdrop yesterday?
me! lol
Yep.... this still looks great
Love the game, but I personally prefer the controls of the Trilogy release on wii. Having to hold in the GameCube analog trigger until it clicked to lock on caused quite a bit of finger fatigue, especially during the marathon of a final boss battle.
Little correction in Lava Lake the room where you said a random super missle is required for the artifact, 2 missles do the same job giving you access to it right after obtaining varia :)
Just beat the game for my third time. It is truly an experience very few games can truly give. Happy 20th Anniversary to Metroid Prime, and a thank you to Retro Studios's hard-working artists and designers.
SEE YOU NEXT MISSION!
I play it on Mouse and Keyboard using Dolphin emulator and it's just soo good. I never thought a 2 decade old game designed to be played on controller would translate so well to PC play. (Using Prime Trilogy, playing 1 & 2. Haven't figured out how to map motion controls to PC peripherals yet.)
PrimeHack ftw. +90FOV and faithful HD textures.
I love Metroid Prime
Finally played and finished the game for the first time last year (had a PS2 as a kid) always wanted to since I was fan of the 2D games. This game really does hold up, the recent remaster just further reinforced that. Masterpiece.
I’m glad Prime is my first Metroid game I’ve had in my younger days.
With the whole controls complaint, as someone who has played this game quite a lot, holding L to lock on makes moving around the map much easier, and it even makes you move a bit faster, though yes, the turn speed is a bit slow.
The wii remote controlls are sweet
Nice!
Great video. Good gaming and God bless.
I was literally thinking does Proto still upload? And you literally just did lmao I forgot I wasnt subbed on this account
Prime 2 is best Prime
Oooo that's a hard no from me.
Lol, and for me... that's HARD to say which out of the two I liked best. both are very, VERY unique and are satisfying to play in different ways. prime 1, though easier, is GOOD quality fun with its more simplistic approach while echo's might be a bit better because it offers a tighter difficulty spike. its not TOO bad(err.. hard)as the dark beam helps out a LOT(its PRETTY busted, lol). my favorite might actually be the second game as well.
Though... the brokenness of the dark beam is NOTHING in comparison to just how SAVAGELY broken hypermode was in prime 3. prime 3.... is the EASIEST of the three and happens to be my LEAST favorite of the three as well. but its NOT a bad game. I liked it as well, its just I FOUND it a little TOO on the easy side. EVEN on hard...
As easy as it is though, I still like to play it occasionally.
Good video 🎉
Do you think Nintendo announces Prime 1 Remake in September Direct to be released in November 2022?
watching this cause now the remaster is on switch!
The bit about the archaic controls (being single-thumbstick). I actually NEVER had any issue with that. In-fact, I quite liked the control scheme. Unfortunately, years later, it would become problematic as it's already very clear that it'll be a problem when/if MP1 comes to the the Switch. As with Super Mario Sunshine on the Switch, the Switch's lack of analogue triggers that allow partial presses means that, even with the Switch GameCube controller (which lacks the same), it will not be possible to free-aim.
If they release Prime for Switch, they'd probably just use the Trilogy's motion control aiming and map it to dual joysticks. I know it's possible because I've mapped those same aiming controls to mouse and it works great. I'd actually be extremely hyped for a Prime release on Switch.
If they fixed the backtrack to space jump, it'd be literal 11/10 to me
6 months later nintendo released remastered edition
I mean post Ocarina of Time Zelda without Miyamoto isn't a big deal, since he's barely involved anymore, Aonuma taking the reins, but yeah would certainly suck, even seen that happen outside of games, some anime I've watched, Chuck Jones when he passed in 2002 a man that shaped my childhood with How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry to name a few. Always unfortunate when creators pass away, even more so in the middle of a franchise's life, Berserk's creator passing away last year, if Oda passed away while One Piece is coming up on its final arc just out of nowhere would CERTAINLY suck. Any medium, it's a tragedy to see people pass away that inspired you, especially if it was premature due to an uncontrollable health think like Iwata getting cancer back in 2018, or in this case out of the blue an out of nowhere, out of left field accidents that can't be controlled in the moment, but perhaps could've been prevented entirely... did not mean for this to turn into an obituary or in memory of, especially since I'm not a Metroid fan, not that I hate the series either, just not for me, but well here we are, and I'm sure everyone who is a Metroid fan has remembered I'm fondly all these years later, he has been missed.
Ah yes, the Kozo
Awesome game, hope prime 4 is even better
Wow, thanks for acknowledging the REAL creator of Metroid (Gunpei Yokoi). Not enough people do this. Too often lately Sakamoto is getting credit when he was NOT a creator in any way shape or form (he was one of several character artists Yokoi brought on at the end of development). Sakamoto is a no talent hack, who got where he was by taking credit for other people's work. He basically usurped everything Yokoi did, and took credit.
3D is definitely better for metroid overall but it's hard to deny that right now dread is the objectively best game for all of its advancements
Dread/2D--better abilities, movement, combat. Prime/3D--stronger atmosphere/immersion, puzzles. Personally I'm glad we both, and would love to aspects of each integrated into the other.
Damn it's been 20 years??
20 Years of Metroid Prime
Now do the Switch version booooooi
Chozo (Cho-zo)
Phendrana (Fen-dra-na)
Metroid Prime is good I suppose, I didn't have it for long.
Protomario made a metroid prime video?
But PROTO...this aint Pokemon!! 😭😭
It's still perfect.
Metroid Prime is indeed the best Metroid game.
Ah yes, twenty years ago. Back in the days when IGN called this a first-person adventure.
Duel stick would make no sense in this kind of game. I thought the lock on system was perfect.
Well too because its here anyway
Are the Prime games good? Hell yeah they are. But are they the best? Hell no. Metroid Dread confirmed that.
I think youtubes algorithm actually killed your channel. There are brand new channels that are posting metroid prime retrospective videos that are getting 100k views.
Samus was never meant to be a woman but after the creator had passed away the marketing team thought it would be better if they did a reveal of samus and have samus turn out to become a woman its crazy to know the original version it was supposed to be a he but greedy corporate controls everything
This video isn't long enough, doesn't go in depth enough and isn't even ankle deep content. Yeah I can see why people stop watching if you're going to produce content that's at this level of quality.
It hasnt been 20 years. This video is false.
2002 was 20 years ago…time has passed before our very eyes
I know, Great game, Great times
Nah. This game is amazing, but it's no near as good as 2d Metroid ones
