At 70 yr's old I'm glad tha I never had a " comfort zone" when it comes to music! A particular genre may not be among my preferences, but I have great admiration for talent lyrically and instrumental. Having grown up in the '60s I was very fortunate to experience the sounds of the time!
Music is the one thing that bridges the gap between generations. I would love to have been there for the sixties and seventies music. I was a teenager in the Late eighties early nineties and they just don't make music like they did in the Sixties and seventies. And I loved the nineties, They just don't seem to have the same depth to their music.
@@steelyspielbergo - Ah, I've got to disagree. The chorus to "Think About You" is amazing. If I had to pick a weakest link on Appetite it would be "Out to Get Me."
The #1 best selling rock debut of all time. No other debut rock record and a lot of pop rap and country debuts can’t touch it either. The singer axl rose stepped off the bus in In LA for the first time coming from Indiana and this grizzled homeless dude was looked at him and said “Welcome to the jungle baby, you gonna die!!!” That was the inspiration for the song and first part of the video with street hustler then the hooker walking by. Love the look on his face as the song builds.
Back in the eighties in never would've imagined that in 2023 I'd be walking down the grocery store isles hearing this song playing. With time comes change.
Every reactor (with any music taste) makes the same stank face when hearing this song for the first time, it’s hilarious and never gets old lol. Great reaction!
Not bad once they eventually get on stage or if they decide to even show up, I'd be willing bet their tour manager was bald, he most likely pulled every last strand of hair from his head, the poor bastard.
Yes! Great reaction. My favorite band all time. This song was off Appetite for Destruction, one of the greatest debut albums ever. Sweet Child o Mine and Paradise City are the other hits off that album you should check out. The only had a couple more albums after that because Axl Rose, the singer, was a diva. Amazing voice, but he was constantly late to shows and it led to conflict mainly between him and Slash, the guitarist. Slash is amazing too, you can definitely hear his guitar skills more on the 2 other songs I mentioned. Happy exploring!
Slash & Duff returned to the band in 2016 & the band is really tight & happy these days. Axl & Slash had worked through their old issues, which are no longer relevant to them touring & rocking together :)
And it was......1986 when we first caught this on the bus ride home. And from that point on a GNR fan for life. And all that came with it. Some damn near 40 years later this album is still the most rocking album out there. A pantheon of 80's rock.
I can't remember the exact year it dropped, I'm thinking 88-89 but it was legitimately a nuclear bomb dropping on the music scene when Appetite for Destruction, Guns N Rose's first album dropped, they went from a relatively big draw rock band in the LA scene to exploding across the entire world in a matter of months. Every single single they dropped from the album went straight to the top 5-10 on billboard over and over and over again reminiscent of another classic masterpiece, Thriller. Different genre, similar impact. They just had that "thang" whatever IT is, they had IT IN SPADES AND SPADES. To this day, the only other song that even comes close to this is AC/DC's Back in Black to me. It's a certified skid row classic.
In an interview Axl said that he got the inspiration for this song from what somebody told him when he first got to LA. The pictures in the video show some of what it was like fresh off of the bus and trying to find his way.
My favorite band of all time it’s like listening to an orchestra or a master class, every time . Please do sweet child of mine it’s their first biggest hit it’s insane ❤
The raw energy alone on this album is amazing. Add to that the fact that all 12 songs could have been hit singles in and of themselves and there's your recipe for the best debut album of all time!
I heard an interview with Axl once where he said the inspiration for the song was a kid gets off the greyhound from huckleberry anywhere and steps into the LA/Hollywood jungle where they are prey. Hence welcome to the jungle. I came to SoCal a 17 year old hick so totally relatable
I've seen one where he said he was in New York lost in Harlem and asked a black guy where they were at and he told Axl you don't know where you are your in the jungle baby your gonna die and that is where the song came from
Jungle is about the streets, the underbelly of Hollywood, and the corruption of the world. You should try reacting to the song “it’s so easy”Another banger, but a different vibe. Check out the official video.

This is my first time seeing one of your reactions and you picked a great song for me to start off from, cause I love this song and band. So keep up with the hard rock and metal songs, cause trust me, you won't regret it...oh by the way, I absolutely love your hair!
This song is about him moving to LA and getting into the concrete jungle. Mostly the drug game doing and selling drugs - "if you got the money honey we got your disease" "you can take anything you want but you better not take it from me" etc. etc. He moved to LA with like $10 at the age of I think 17 to become a rock star and had to survive. That's what it's about. Actually right as he got to LA he got off the bus and walked up a freeway and a started talking with a black guy that told him and his friend "Welcome to the Jungle"
You are on the right track. The band was huge in the beginning but imploded after they got the fame and money. A common story. When he was young, lead singer Axl Rose was sexy, talented, and intense. But if you listen to Sweet Child of Mine you'll hear another side of him and the band. Welcome to the Jungle and November Rain are still my favorite songs by GNR.
The Black community has been innovators in music since y'all got here. Blues, Jazz, Rock n Roll, Hip hop, etc. But sometimes they have a lamentable habit of gatekeeping black culture, what is and isn't black enough. And So I thank you for stepping fearlessly outside the box that is sometimes hard to escape from.
It’s great to step out of your comfort zone! There’s so much good music out there to discover from everyone!!!! 😅❤ I’ve had a crush on him (when in his prime) for a few years now lol. Come on now they’re not inappropriate - it’s a song 😝. Check out Sweet Child of Mine, Mr Brownstone, November Rain, etc
GnR are awesome, back & then & also nowdays. They have a few albums which you can check out, but they still rock. Axl Rose (lead singer) has an amazing vocal range, great charisma, and also has a reputation which goes ahead of him from many years ago & he has come a long way since then & he is not deserving of all the bad comments he gets, in 2023, he is such a brilliant frontman, he is a good guy, loves & cares about his fans, still rocks the stage with GnR & he seems to be very happy these days :) Please do more GnR reactions :)
First time I heard this song too tonight. It was their break through song. Before this song they were a local LA club band. Song is about young musos coming to LA in the 80s.
But but but but.... I don't see any "THANKS" button to click for $$'s! Did you forget about that "THANKS" button? I hope not, because it, you'd be missing out on a lot of $$$! I absolutely LOVE your style of reacting! You put so much true emotion into every word you say. The look on your face, shows exactly how you feel about whatever you are reacting to. Seeing as this is from their debut album, it’s not about fame, or living in expensive part of Hollywood. It’s about living in the seedy part, where there is drugs and crime and prostitution everywhere. Which is where they lived at the time. (And, a few of them already had some very unhealthy habits, before they were even signed). My G’n’R story is I saw them live the same night I had left my childhood home to move to the big city. By the time GnR entered the rock scene, much of the "rock" music was saturated with the glam rock bands which were one in the same, just with different makeup. I personally think GnR saved the metal rock scene thru the rest of the eighties and reopened the doors for additional metal bands to make some headway before the nineties grunge era took center stage
Slash, with the long fall of hair and the hat, one of the most creative and accomplished guitarists of all time.
"Those noices are inappropriate."
Axl: "you're welcome." 😅
"Those noises are inappropriate"...and then she rewinds lol

Axl Rose the biggest cry baby in rock and roll
I can't think of one better. He got in the zone like michael jackson did. Just without the pedo stuff.

I was strickly an R&B,rap music teen until this fell in my lap. Music has no discretion about who it grabs. Total Jam!
