People might find drag boring, but back at the end of Feb or begining of March someone walked away from a no prep race in Las Vegas with $20,000 for toy car drag racing. I think they are a vehicle that would be more fun if your friends had a couple.
Yes, crazy money!
I think it was 18k
The love of a childhood hobby that you can make money off of, period!!
@@mbfishing3807 it was per say but with all the other sponsor money paid out to the winner in the end it was over 20k, I wanna say 21k or near that.. 🏁🤙🏽💯
How anybody can find tuning an RC drag car to be the fastest at the track boring is beyond me lol..
They look cool. Love the way the body's fit, makes em look bigger. They would look good in any race.
This is one of the best intro to drag RCs I've seen. Very detailed.
Hey Tomley, Almost speechless you felt the car smoothness we could see it. That Dragster is smooth sounding love it great video awesome car!
Cool launch montage at the end - you look well happy in that last still image : )
Thanks an Del... I was having a good day!
just this minute picked up an associated tc6 with a massive case of spares, 4 batteries, 3 sets of wheels, spare motor and two shells for 50 quid ... shes a runner too!!! well impressed
I do my bit, watch every one of your videos so you can afford every rc on the planet.
Legend 😎👌
Great :-D
@@TomleyRCI just bought mine bud where is this location buddy
Super cool! Great shots of the wheelies off the line. Wonderful video!
Top racers are doing 2.5 sec on 2s... Low turn motors. It's great that the GPS does distance too. Use rug for tire warming to save rubber
At first I was sceptical about how much "fun" you would get. Now, with the SkyRc I can see quite a bit of fun trying to get your speeds/records, tinkering etc. If you don't have any tracking, just going in straight lines ain't my thing 🤣. Still, overall I'd certainly give it a thumbs up
Yes, without timing gear, or others to race it would be a little boring on your own 😅
getting your car to actually go in straight line is the hardest part of tuning lol so if you enjoy tuning you'd love Dragging..
Congratulations, your almost at 40k Subs!
soon
That one pull was epic. Great shot 👌.
Yes, I think I came of the juice too soon though, easily would have been in the 2s
I discovered your channel yesterday, and I like it a lot mate. Cheers from France 😃
Great video ! The DRAG car is really cool ! 👌👍👍👍
Great video I build a slash drag car last year love it, one thing with these rtr drag car that are available they have stability but in no prep rc your not allowed to use it, all about the fine tuning.👍
The more of these I watch the more I want one. Looks addictive kinda like crawling I was hooked from the first few videos I watched. Then after I got one forget it totally hooked. I crawl every day now on my backyard course. Anyways great video buddy.
Yes, and in reality, 132ft is not far, so you could find and old car park and a few mates and have fun!
Drag racing bores my nads off. This didn't. I want more.
love the slow mo
Thank you 😊
I like how the front looks like a cross between a 69 roadrunner and a 70 challenger and the rear screams 70-72 montie Carlo. Need a bead to head with a drag slash build
Yes... it’s a bit of a mish mash
@@TomleyRC true I do wonder how close the drag slash will be to there how to build a drag slash video. I hope they do something like the funny car electronics
LOL someone might take it to the skate park but I won't be. LOL let it go man. We like both your channels.
Well well first in 30 years. Man oh man beauty show /N shine car.
Nice music 👍at the end. It had
FALAVA nice flava. 👊😀
Yes, good track!
The video I have seen testing the new Losi drag car was mighty impressive, it was fast & went straight as an arrow.
Yes, looks awesome!
Been looking for muscle car as I was 17 yrs. old when Dodge Demons /Dusters and chevy ruled.
It's why I decided on this. It's definitely borrowed from Dodge Mopar.
Can't wait to get it. Bought lime green. 💪👍
that runway is really gonna come in handy.
Yes haha
I need a runway. Here in Florida we have straight roads but mad camber for the tropical rains. I sneak onto the local RC aircraft runway now and again but its too short for full blooded speed runs
@@TomleyRC RUNWAY?
Airplanes, British aircraft, sharing that runway with a Spitfire or Canberra etc?
Awesome this video is really getting some hits. Cheers mate.
Cheers mate
Realy great video these cars are so cool building your own drag car would be so cool
I like this rtr you showcased rather then the Traxxas drag car
Wicked video mate as always.keep it up bro
Cheers dude
@@TomleyRC I've been looking at these a lot recently and you may have convinced me to get 1
Would have a blast running one of these with an AMC Javelin or Chevy split window Corvette body on it.
Look up the rules 5.54 pounds in weight. 2s only .no stability control .here in the U.S.A were hitting 85 mph on 2s u got a long way to go good luck 👍
Great looking car and super smooth..
Yeah, lovely and smooth... which is nice in a Ready To Run
Just kicking back watching ole tomley. Finally got one of these cuz I couldn't pass the $199 sale price. Haven't ran it yet but I must say it's very lightweight and seems to be built very well.
$199… what a steal!
I would suggest 35wt oil in the front and 40wt oil in the rear. That is what I run my losi drag version. Awesome video!
Awesome, cheers dude
This looks so much fun, might try and sell my wife and/or child to fund all the RC cars I want from watching this channel.
Haha...
Recently, as in two days ago, my wife has noticed how much joy I've gotten from the hobby and watching RC videos and said she thinks I should continue the hobby. She has no idea how expensive this hobby can get...LOL But I suppose its true " he who findeth a wife findeth a good thing"!
Hahahahah
Sale your kids and wife for toys.... get a job ;)
Get you set of proline big daddy drag silks and run a 120 amp esc on the stock motor 3s and the list goes on
You did yourself right by getting one of these Gov!!👍💯 She's a bloody keeper, hello, hello mine's on the way!!!! & Yeah I'd keep that body clean status.
Yes, loverly thing isn’t it!
I had got the green one as it was almost the last one in AUSTRALIA when I did. Then ordered the recommended REEDY POWER 2S and 3S batteries and CHARGER for it and as for the 3900kv motor that can be used on 2S is no longer being made or in stock. I had just got my SKYRC GNSS SPEED METER GSM-015 and tried them out with it and got 40kmh on 2S then 60kmh on 3S. The WLTOYS A969B and the A979B are just 1kmh faster at 61kmh. I do not race and just have fun with it and as for what class it would be in it is OUTLAW ALL THE WAY. I put my GOPRO HERO 7 BLACK on the inside looking through the windscreen and it looks great but have to block out the steering next time with something like a dash board to hide it. The steering adjustments are so touchy and extremely fine to get right.
Green does look really nice!
Scale 1/10 quarter mile is 132 feet.
Nice runs on that dr10 sir!!!
50c on your battery is a bit low if you want a quicker take off speed. Nice demo, nice car boyo!
O just ordered the Kit !! On Amazon prime day today.. My first drag car …. I was looking for a power plant for it .. there’s a lot out there now no prep drag race
Looks awesome need to get it dialled in and practice those starts to keep it in the lines but looks like there is a lot of fun to be had driving and set ups
Yes, part of the fun for me is learning as well... so getting the perfect launch is a good journey!
@@TomleyRC can’t wait to see what you do with this 👀 thought about buying or maybe building 1 for a while now
Man this looks so cool, I’m tempted, too tempted lol
Great video bud I was thinking of getting a drag car 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate
Proper wicked. Nice model
I’ve seen some really nice bodies!
Great video TOMLEY. Got one a few months ago They are great fun bit it is addictive. (the wheels will rub the paint off. ) Also looking at the Losi. We need no prep drag racing in the uk. US rules they run on 2s.
As a Losi fan-boy, i'm going to purchase the 22s as my first drag car. However, the price on the DR10 is so damn good I might get one of them too!
I just ordered the DR10 this morning I got the purple one also. Here in Australia $499
$199 on amazon now
At the end the tires should be warm enough juice to do small burnouts that’s why it hooked so much on the last
aMain has RTR ones for $198, with a free ni-mh battery. I had to take advantage of that, that is why i'm here.
I got one of these kits today for 80$ it didnt include the body but has the chassis and gears and tires... supply my own motor speed controller battery and so on. But im excited to build it
Awesome drag car and pulls
Thanks mate
@@TomleyRC 👊👍😃
Looks good what a beast
That colour is sick
A quarter mile is 1320 feet. So divide that by 10 and the result is 132 feet.
So that's how 1320 videos came up with their name 🤔
This looks like it would be fun 👍🏻
Looks like nice and powerful :-)
Would love one. But just need a private airstrip like yours :)
Haha...
Build one. You got Serpents and Mardaves and F1 cars. No Prep is just one in a bunch of classes.
LOL actually isn't kind of what the fastest D chassis WPL truck is going to be? Break is over.
Worlds 1st no prep ground keepers truck ;)
Haha
You good? It looks like you had a legit Stroke saying this?!
i have never hear mesh like this before, amazing, only this makes me want to buy this car. Goddamn that mesh is like paradice/heaven
It’s beautiful. I’m worried if I change the motor, I lose the smoothness!
@@TomleyRC yeah maybe, you should try anyway :) if it fails go back to stock again :) . The Smooth Gear Mesh is awsome. If you are lucky maybe it feels ans sounds same with more KV too maybe ? Only way found out is try another Motor :) So what Pitch this car got ? 48 ? Im 100% shure it is not MOD1 they sound horrible LOL
What a great looking drag car.
Really enjoyed that Phil.
Bet the slash drag car is going to be £500-£600 when released.
Not surprised if that would be the price. Traxxas is reasonably expensive. Their parts are everywhere and cheap tho. And they got good customer care 👌.
Still I wouldn't buy 😂
Traxxas are expensive... I may make an exception for the Drag Slash though!
Yes it's around £540/600 and the Arma infraction costs the same and can hit speed of 80mph
Great to see "propper speed" cars none of your speed runs rubbish...lol. great review. I just wish we all had access to a runway. The loss is not available in the UK as Horizon won't import to us from Europe.
Hmm... I’ll maybe try and pull a few strings
The stickers are probably not cut because they are double filmed. Paper on the back and removable clear film on top. If you do apply them they should look good
Look fun you need more cars to race 👍
I got a dr10 72 36 gearing proline blue dot and a all stock drag slash , the drag slash all stock is 25 feet in front of the dr10 in 132 foot track
You will break into the high 2’s for sure
Dammit I didn’t know I needed one till I watched your video! 😂
haha
Scale 1/4 mile would be 44 yds Phil. This looks like a decent set-up out of the box .
I have a drag track not so far from my house I never knew they made rc drag cars I'd rather build a real one but this is cool
Gorgeous car. Looks very scale!
Just changing pinion will get you to about 40mph on 2s, for no prep only 2s is allowed if following the US rules which I am sure we will.
Yeah, going to do a fast 2s set up
@@TomleyRC it can get a bit coggy on start if you aren’t careful, get a few different teeth spurs too and join the many US forums like RC no prep junkies, dr10 groups etc, love mine but only racing the gnss currently!
Dammit Phil, now i want one of these as well....
Though it would be good if Lenny could build a 2 lane dragstrip at the BERCC....
Next trend RC Burnout cars.... Was thinking about this the other night.......
Would be cool to set one up somewhere
I can't drive speed RC car but i like your video, your car likes look dominic torreto car😁
The DR10 is hands down the best RTR to start drag racing.
It’s certainly got me interested!
You should get a small orange cone and mark the distance your looking to go. Better than guessing. Great vid tho!!
Love this type of car takes me back to when I used to work at santa pod , I"m abit dissapointed with the top end speed compered to the Losi camaro ,but i'm sure a diferent kv motor would sort that out , ive promised myself one if no holliday abroad
Yes, as all No Prep is 2s... I’m thinking a Castle 7700kv in there
@@TomleyRC defo gonna get the losi when it gets to blighty , watched some of the masive American winner take all big money events awesome , I think 7000 KV may be a bit high for the esc 5000 would be a nice mix of speed and torque and give the esc and motor an easier time , stick some paddles on and beach or dirt runs that would be cool
@@stephenhogston7394 would I need to upgrade my esc if I put that 5000 in it?
Beautiful car, Tomley! Really nice!!! 😃
Great runs there!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks mate
Tomley off topic.. But luvit that ur shoes r alwayz on point buddy.. Never drag raced😱.. Its fun though u can get the tree and trapz make it really fun.. Thnx again buddy
I have a small obsession with trainers. Glad you appreciate them.... yeah, Drag racing needs to be with a few people and trees etc to get the most from it 🤘
@@TomleyRC oh yes buddy shoes watches and rcs and funko pops if yall have them over their 😂.. And thnx again 4ur tyme and vids.. Keeps my head clear👍
It looks like a 60s Plymouth Roadrunner or GTX from the front...but kinda looks like a 68 Camaro from the side.
I think it looks like a old 80-90s Dodge Charger.
Great car!! Awesome nice Bro!!
I’m waiting for the drag slash
Looks like fun 👍
Looks Awesome
I know in real drag racing you can tweak your wheelie bar to help compensate for torque steer on launch as well. After all it is what steers the car when the front wheels aren't
Yes, I lifted it for more ‘show’, but will put it back down a bit for the next runs
That's smart mate. Need to get it to launch straight that might bring your time down? Don't know just a thought. Excellent video though 👌
Hey paul 1/10 scale dragstrip at the BERCC ??? Get lenny on it ...
@@SharkysGarageRCandMore . Hmmm. Its a great idea. Buy very permanent not to mention expensive. I will look into it.
@@WheelsRC The BERCC could become the RC equivalent of Santa Pod ....
@@SharkysGarageRCandMore. I will definitely suggest it to the committee. Is there any rules for rc drag racing in the UK?
@@WheelsRC i have no idea, but Phil seems to know a bit.
I would suggest a scale 1/4 mile, with outside curbs.
We could build a drag race tree, and put in a timing setup....
someday.. I'll break out the scratch built 1/12 dragster for a run video.
its chassis is from carbon fiber arrow blanks, black epoxy-glass plate stock,
"welded" together with sewing thread and CA glue. motor pod is typical on road pan car type with pinion ahead of the spur gear, old school foam rubber tires, simple really.
weighs very little, 3650 size 5000kv brushless for power, about 3.8:1 ratio, 8.2" rollout.
trick is having tall enough gear it launches without losing it then nailing it at 8-10 foot to let it power through. gotta pick up a programming card for the ESC to play with it more. the intent is for 2S 2200mah size only, to keep the power/weight ratio up.
Sounds cool!
@@TomleyRC you can do a lot with that building method and carbon fiber rod+tubing, just shape parts to fit, scuff them up, CA together then start lashing with thread and CA every direction possible. with tubing you can drill in, angle them over for rod stock to fit in or through for extra strength.
motor pod was 5 bucks, steering blocks+spindles and king pins were about 12 bucks (RJspeed). project started with just the body then build the rail chassis to fit under it.. haha.. I need to make a video durnit.
Hi love the vids
Thanks dude
More of a muscle car chassis with a beam axle and leaf springs would be awesome.
ssssh, have you been looking on my table in the corner of the livingroom again?.....
They have been built before but I hear they are impossible to keep stable
That's the challenge, probably lairy handling on 1S! I like scale and it would probably be a longer 132foot run and more involved drive, could start from a stock (over weight underpowered) 16seconds run and modify to try for sub10. Hard bodies, true 1:10, line lock etc. It's why the crawlers appealed and I'm back in the hobby.
@@simontromans2748 The challenge of a scale suspension geometry and making it work is something crawlers have achieved. And I understand leafsprung truck chassis are not very popular. But its awesome these componets were created in 1/10th scale. If you look at 50s and 60s drag cars you will see alot of 6 lug rearends out of pickup trucks. And Gassers used beam front axels out of 2wd trucks and vans. All this stuff is available. Can you imagine 1960s stock cars road racing cars running leafsprung or three link coil sprung rear suspension and IFS? I have really wondered where the manufacterers have been on this. The consumer drives what products are going to be available. And its a mix of R/Cer's who know very little about the nuts and bolts of how real cars work and people who aren't into the scale aspect of the hobby as much so it doesn't bother them that the model isn't that scale. Nothing wrong with that it should be fun first. I fall somewhere in the middle of that. But I do like a challenge, and hearing that scale geometry suspension cars could never be competitive in no prep, oval or road course. Let's find out! I enjoy trying. So yeah I have a flat frame crawler chassis slowly becoming a drag car. I know other people are developing these cars but they are elusive to my internet searches
@@mikeupton5406 I have seen an axial scx-10 do 70mph on 2s with full lockers. We cried when he hit that curb! We ran mod 1 gears 😆 we had the overdrive ring and pinion in the rear. We ran AKAs that were saused out.
I love the drag stuff great content carry on
Thanks dude
I can hear that electric motor making big block V8 tones. Nice, but it could get boring quickly unless you like chasing numbers or have friends to compete with.
So as I'm an old school rc guy what exactly is no prep drag racing? I get the idea of scale drag racing and could see how the challenge of getting the best out of your setup could be quite addictive. But surely people will be working on these things for many many hours before they would take it to a race.
I wanna take my “stock” arrma vendetta to a drag event and see how it does. Especially vs a 4 tec mainly to smoke the hell out of it.
Trying to decide which drag car to get. Last summer it was a real big thing around here and Associated has a special for $170 for a RTR kit, which is a great deal. They have a kit for $100 and I have electronics already, but an extra set of electrics for $70 is not a bad deal.
I couldn’t pass it that I got both the rtr & the kit for that price you say!
To get the best launch. Drag cars run 90/10 shocks. 90 percent compression. 10 percent lift. For weight transfer. Best you can do. Is put super lightweight shock oil up front. Everything else I believe you already know.
Cheers dude 😎
Get the drag slash!!
bad ass! that's all i gotta say. looks awesome! wonder how long the plastic wheelie bar wheels will last overtime and if they'll come out with rubber tires as an upgrade. thanks for the video! cheers.
I’d probably look at putting some better wheels on mine
@@TomleyRC for sure. maybe RPM, HotRacing, etc will come out with a custom one in the future since it's still newer on the market. cheers. thanks for the reply.
Amazing 👍
Is the best rc cars
Modified they can do 50-60mph. But remember they are mostly raced in public parking lots. So most rules limit you to 2s. And stock gearing. As not to hurt people.
Yes, got a nice Castle set up to try
that looked good fun, completely useless around here so thanks for the video 😀👍
This would be mental on 4s
