Thanks dude. Very easy cheep fast fix. If your handy with tools it's easy. The capacitors are marked with appropriate numbers. Watch out for shocks. Ur vid is exactly what I needed to do.
Great video. Neighbor in my apartment complex left one of these by the dumpster! I have little electronics experience like you so watching someone like myself actually do this was awesome. Gott it working like new. Thanks a ton!
Thanks for your video, Marty! I would never have attempted this without your help. I went to two Radio Shacks and they were both out of that size (Price is now $1.99 each). I ended up going to an electronics store where they had them for $2.19 each. Still a bargain! Let me point out something you mentioned in the video that is VERY important: There is a positive (+) lead and negative (-) lead on the capacitors. The board is marked which goes where, but may be hard to read. Be very careful you solder them the right way or you will most likely waste your time and money. Honestly, the hardest part of this job is getting the cover off the TV. Mine is working perfectly again now too. Thanks again!
mine was doing the same but taking it apart like shown here disconnect everything. blew everything out with some canned air fixed the problem for me. mine seemed like more a connection issue due to i could tap on back of tv and it would quit strobing for a while. but video still helped me through taking the back off. much appreciated.
+Marty09933 have you had any experience or tutorials on changing out hdmi inputs? fixing pick up a free 42 inch lightening had hit and burnt up that input everything else works. figured if all else fails. ill buy an adapter for it.
Very helpful video. I wish radio shack was still around, I don't really know of any other places where you can still buy small electronics components like that, those were the days. Good work on the soldering too, if it's messy and makes connection, hey it works! Thanks again
Cool! Thanks for sharing. While I do have the expertise to troubleshoot the device, it takes a lot more time than I can justify. This makes it a breeze.
thank you for following up the video that I had already found and putting it down in easy follow up. I fixed my 42 Vizio and maybe it is the satisfaction of doing it my self, but I swear the picture is better than ever. lol , I did upgrade to 50V capacitors , and they are a tiny bit longer which DOESN'T fit in the same holes in the circuit board , but they'll be fine.
I have a vizio as well. When I push the on buttom on the tv has a white light that comes on and goes off along with the screen. Both flash once then stays off. Do you know what it may be?
They are at RadioShack they were like a dollar 49. I also replaced all four just to be sure. Mine look the same way with the black on the on the crosses.
Gonna try on my Vizio. It’s been flashing in and out and most likely capacitors. When I looked at the boards on back none look blown out but may be worth a shot
What kind of compacitors do you have to get and when you solder do you put the metal to the solder and let it drip or make sure its touching.the board and do it
dominique brito I don't remember but take the old capacitor to radio shack and they should be able to match them .as far as soldier I think I did both but you should be able to find something on you tube .sorry
Julian David sorry i dont remember its been a while but i think it should say on the capacitor or if not maybe radio shack can tell you if you take the old one in
I found a website that was very helpful while researching this same issue. try badcaps.net and check out the forums. there are several guides that will likely help you to diagnose the problem.
Since there are no more Radio Shacks around us where else has the transistors that you replaced? What are they called so we can look for them online please??
Hi Glen Silva honestly I don’t remember it’s something I don’t do but I decided to play with it but just take the old ones off and it should have all the info on there . lift the black tab with your fingernail the ribon cable that is flat and creased with a blue tab to pull on they are in every computer/tv/stereo the black tab lifts and that way it won't just pull out try that in the future and pull from the little peal up blue tab just FYI
Look at the capacitors and if you have it open already just go ahead and change the capacitor they're pretty cheap I really can't tell if they're good or bad but mine looked a little bit burnt so I changed them and it worked for me thanks for watching .

Most likely A-4533 ( 470uf 35V 105C ) USS1438
Turn the black light up and the brightness down a little and it should stop
backlight setting won't matter if caps are bad.
