Therefore it really isn’t just “any” wedding at all, but a huge moment in the local community; one in which the Spencer family have been a part of since at least the 15th century (their grand ancestral seat, Althorp House, is only a 20 minute walk from the centre of the village).

I am a bit shocked by how different everyone's attitudes are. This bitter hatred in some comments is baseless. The truth is that famous people, even royalty of any country, have the same dilemmas than everyone else. Stay more mindful and focus on living your lives to the fullest instead of bashing someone else's. Especially those who served others in a way Princess Diana did. Champagne Charlie" has been through several more wives since this wedding. He is apparently like most "First Born" spoiled sons of the aristocracy. He got everything. He may have said nice things about Diana at her funeral service but I remember when she asked him if she could have a small plot on the 15,000 acre Althorpe estate he inherited so she could build a home and he refused. But this creepy alcoholic (like his Dad) wasted no time in making "Dianaworld" complete with her beautiful wedding dress open at least once a year after her tragic death. It may be that like many of the other huge estates, properties have to be made available to "the common folk" for the owners to get a break on their property taxes. I also remember that
"Lover Boy Charlie" couldn't wait to get the Spencer tiara back from Diana that she wore at her own wedding. Poor sweet innocent Diana. She was picked to be a "brood mare" and nothing more. She was "screwed over" by not just her cheating husband but also by her trashy brother.

She was a timeless beauty! How can be someone so beautiful? And how can someone leave her for Camilla? Here I am not comparing them in terms of beauty but as two individual souls.. they people who destroys other's marriage cannot be happy but here we are seeing absolute reverse situation.. Prince Charles and Camilla are living a happy ever after marriage.. the one who suffered has gone away..
While Dianna's sister dated Prince Charles and he hung around their home, with huge difference she did sometimes peek at him when he was around and a few school girl interactions and even wanting more dreaming she could marry a prince, prince charles. Over next several years Prince Charles just not good at getting dates and a few rejected marriage proposals. Daddy Phillips getting impatient and started demanding his Prince baby boy getting too old and needs to find a suitable bride aka babymaker to produce heirs to the throne. Never mind he had two other brothers and a sister. Dianna was a virgin, naive at her age. Absolutely still innocent and fresh to the ways of the world and monarchy. Meanwhile over the years Camilla he had met her at her teen birthday party was known around their social circles as a party lush ho and the monarchy decided she's not a virgin and partieals too much so instead of talking to her, working with her she was rejected by the monarchy. Princess Dianna had no maternal system from dating, engagement, marriage and baby producing to the heir, still in her 20s to figure out who she is and has had to be in the public eye to figure it all out. She figured out on her orulwn to keep standing tall. When the monarchy kept knocking her down. Lots of marital much less monarchy dictating downwards 'the 'rules'. Charles was oft cold too her, did not offer her most of the time too much support. He punished her his forced wedding when he should have himself gotten into counseling to lead and try to deal with his mommy and daddy issues. Camilla had gotten married also out of convenience on a high society scale. She had blown her chance to the crown years earlier knowing Charles was going to get married, pressured or not. Best camilla could have done was be a sympathetic friend, not rolling in the hay ebehind Dianna and the monarchy's back and not while charles needed to bond, spend time and be with his sons. If it was true love, camilla could have been a friend and waited until the kids had the time needed to grow as healthy adults to about their early 20s before anything else happened. Camilla disrespected her man, princess Dianna making things more difficult in that relationship and the daily monarchy challenges. Cold blooded two faced weirdo in my book.
Some of these commenters are so cruel! To be fair this dress is historical reproduction, and should be viewed in context. This was 1989, and not a particularly great time for wedding fashion, and the 80's in general were known for decadent, fantasy fashion that really had no place outside of a film set or off of a run way.. So we shouldn't be to hard on her, because hindsight is a lovely thing to take advantage of. And frankly, none of us know what this dress looked like in person, and (especially at the time, with the low quality cameras/film) we cannot say how it well it actually looked. In person, I am sure that the off white/cream color and vintage lace looked fabulous, and for the era was actually rather subtle and classic (considering the trends of the time, remember Paula Yates scarlet gown that swallowed her little frame in bloody red tulle/taffeta/organza and lace???). It could have been so much worse, and I think it was a nice choice considering the era and the venue in which the wedding took place.. There was a wonderful flow, and everything probably looked much better in person.

Sakura Blossom- I was married in the 80's, and my gown was Beautiful!! I had lace, some sparkle, and ruffles down the 15 ft train!! Had a lot of crystals from the front, to the back!! Had the same lace, and crystals, and silk, and ruffles some went down the front! On the back was cut low on the back, and had the ruffles down each side! The cut of the dress was tight at the top, down to the waist, then she opened up into a princess cut at the bottom, very full!! I wore a medium size tiara, and a veil with lace all around the veil!! The veil was 10 ft long in back, and not as long in front!! I really didn't want to take away from my dress!!! To everyone that was there, and now sees her now they r in love with it!! At 1 time someone wanted to wear it, and I didn't mind, but she wanted to change the gown, by cutting a few places down!! I said, "NO WAY!!" I was hoping to have a daughter, but I had 2 sons!! So she hasn't been wore since that day!! It is a shame for such a beautiful gown!!
