I built my whole shed with an impact wrench, and since I've been using an impact driver; I haven't stopped or feel the need to use a cordless hammer drill anymore because impact drivers are so badass.
I love them all myself but makita impact is my favorite can't beat them
Thank you for the video, I just picked this tool up for $50 practically brand new! FYI if you hold the speed mode button for a few seconds you can turn the twin LED on/off 👍🏻
Hey man nice to see people giving good reviews on makita and even more props to makita for stepping it up . Being a woodworker and GC myself I have a bunch of Makita’s (mosquitos) we call them cause there nasty lol. Also in my arsenal are Defaults and Milwaukee. There all nice but the makita takes a beating the best over time. At least 4 Defaults have burnt up this year alone. I had actually thought the dewalt had more pepper in the beginning but when makita finally got a brushless 3 speed version of the Japanese version in America there’s no difference. If you wanna really be amazed get your hands on Japanese version of either last years or there newest, absolutely smokes anything around including American Makita’s.
But one thing you didn’t point out out about that toolbox that comes with the kit you got which I was surprised because I haven’t seen them in a couple years is the top has bit storage yes thank me later lol. Most people don’t even know it exist but it’s a handy dandy little storage area. If you look very closely you’ll see a secondary seem above lock latch and secondary hinges on the top back of case. Just look at the mold of the inside top of case when it’s open and you can see the imprint of where your bit storage is . Very cool secret storage compartment ! Y’all can thank me later 😂
Keep Rocking the Makita’s
That’s kind of embarrassing I’ve had this a couple years and that’s the first I’ve known about that top part of the case it opens it has different chambers I just went out in my truck and checked that’s hilarious so I’m giving you your thank you later appreciate it!!
I'm only a diyer, just recently bought this toy and love it.
When it starts hammering it seems to just break through whatever' you're screwing into The low power is very useful too. Specially for refined adjustments of screws or for fine furniture woodworking.
I got the drill and impact and I love it. I ordered the newest version impact makita has straight from Japan love it can't beat makita
Just used it today to add on my deck extension and was beast
Which website is it bro??
@@Rico702Vegas Pull up 18v makita from Japan on Google and it took me right to it. I got it from ebay my impact is red and black if you still can't find it let me know and I will look at my paperwork and send you their information from Japan
Very Nice. Though I'm mostly team Yellow, I've always trusted and respected Makita for their overall consistency in quality over the years.
Great review with functions walkthrough and demonstrations. Lots of people calling unboxing videos reviews - this one's a review. Thanks.
Thanks Dominic!!!!
I love it! I am happy to see Makita getting some love again 👍✌️
Yeah, it's very impressive Dan
Hi Tool Review Zone, I had the same issue with not being able to, out of the box, hang the Makita charger on the wall. I managed to get a thin slice of plywood on the back of it and secure it with screws that fit on the same place the factory screws bolt on, only a bit longer.
Hi Andrei. Thanks for the tip buddy. I actually tool some hot glue and a couple strips of wood and hung it. I don't Understand why they just won't add them like every other company in the world?
@@ToolReviewZone Nice alternative! I went to the screws thing so if I had to return it for warranty I wouldn't have issues. But the hot glue might be good enough too!
Yes, it's strange, coming from a reputable company like Makita not having a hole to hang it on the wall.
You can buy a bracket to mount the charger to a wall. I have one for my quad charger in my tool box on my Ute and one on my rapid charger In my workshop
Greetings from South Africa..... To solve your issue of hanging the charger off a wall, simply apply heavy duty velcro tape to the charger and wall...... Holds pretty well and naturally can be moved reasonably quickly. Thanks for your time.
Was going to say that myself. Using Velcro means you can easily take it elsewhere too.
that Ratt guitar intro riff is awesome man 🤘🎸
RATT AND ROLL🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have the Japanese version of the 16. And it is the most powerful drill I’ve ever used
How did you order the Japanese version?
Matt Kramer eBay
Matt Kramer it’s still the most powerful drill
@@DRMadeIt yeah I was looking into it last night and I'm going to try and find one. It seems like the best option for your $
So excited I ordered mine from Amazon going to be at my door in a week or two! Wont use it that much but when I do I no that I will have one hell of a beast.
How much was it for ?.
Don't forget the screw organizer in the top of the case.
I love Makita it’s what I’ve used all my life and it’s never disappointed me, I hate Milwaukee such bulky heavy uncomfortable tools!
I have the same impact however mine only came with 2amp batteries which is fine for the impact driver has less weight but if you want to expand your arsenal of LXT tools then you have to step up with the milliamps those batteries are not cheap I’ve been very happy with my Makita stuff a four stroke blower from 14 or 15 years ago their four stroke commercial trimmer and now a reciprocating saw however it’s corded. I really debated for at least 30 minutes in the isle of getting the LXT Saw or the corded after regardless of any brand you just don’t get much time of use out of the battery powered ones 15 to 20 minutes. Good honest and fair review by the way!
I'm between Makita LXT and Metabo HPT 36v. It's time for me to change tools and batteries. I've basically destroyed a Bosch Freak and Hammer drills set with 6.3 amp hour batteries. I would under houses, leveling and adding support in crawlspaces. I like Metabos waterproof rating, but have heard makitas are so basically impervious to water. What do you suggest? I prefer Makita for the other tools all things equal, but I need a powerful water resistant impact driver that will drive lots of lags.
Thank you for your helpful demo! I use my Makita impact driver and recently got a M-drill with an extra box of accessories. You can feel the power of this range. Compact but effective!🤓
Does XDT14 have any vibration/wobble issue on long spade bits ? Also -when tool is off -do you feel any backlash(mechanical gap) in anvil mechanism when you shake the tool back & forth ? Thanks
Had one fo rtwo years love for most things but use corded 1/2 for heavy stuff. Makita makes great cordless.
Just got this with the hammer drill combo. How would this compare to the Dewalt 3 speed impact?
T setting is automatic it automatically adjust for best results?
The case has a extra compartment in the door. With the case closed lift up on the lid, and it will open up. There is a lot of extra room for bits and such. It's the whole size of the lid.
Been looking at Makita for a week now on HomeDepots sight.....I gotta do it.
Dude sick Ratt riff as an intro hell yeah!!!
Ratt and roll brother 😎😎😎
I believe it weighs 3.3 lbs, the 12 lbs must be the whole case.
Hahaha
Dam that smart mode wow
Nice impact driver. (Hard to beat the Kaizen folks). Thank you for making & posting this video.
Xdt 14 the most comfortable impact ever. Oh I forgot to mentionnwith tons of power & precision. I hope the xdt 16 internal elec. Holds up that's an awesome 1 also
I love Makita much better quality and service than Dewalt or Milwaukee. Quite frankly this thing is the beast of beasts
what s the attachment you use to fit into the socket ???
I hope Makita keeps doing this with innovations and I'm glad to see that Bosch is coming back to for all you team Ridgid fans everything from Gen 5 is going to be octane's this is what I was told by someone I know that's a representative for Ridgid so everything that's out on the market now that's Gen 5 is going to be updated to octane in due time just to give everyone a heads up on ( trz ) looks like ridges trying to go professional fully let's see how that goes any tools in the. Line you looking forward to coming out in the octane line they have an octane circular saw that's correct you heard me I have no specs information on it but I found out about that I don't know when that's coming out but I'm definitely looking forward to that one. Make sure you subscribe and hit the like button on this channel to review zone is awesome !
I really like the charger because of that sound when it finished charghing is funny
I actually like when you throw them on and it revs up
You can actually change the sound by plugging battery in then real quick out then back on.
@@zechariahhall2620 is true thanks it has like 5 different sounds
Olmost same Rpm 3600 as xdt12 and xdt16 but $100 cheaper then xdt12 and xdt16 , for the tool itself it's around $170(+) for xdt12 and xtd16 but for xdt14 which is a hidden gem it's around $70-90(+) a lot cheaper for same power.
There is another slot on the top of the case try opening it for extra storage space
I was going to mention this too, I need to look for these cases (as if I need more Makita items);
That's a sweet Makita impact driver all I hear is people complaining about the Bosch having low IPM for the idh182 now I see it's pretty comfortable to what's out now and in the DeWalt dcf888 maybe a little higher but I don't know if they're inflating their numbers like Ridgid does with a lot of stuff good job in the video I would actually trade the rigid for that Makita impact driver
Have to watch those numbers sometimes bro. I learned the hard way about that
@@ToolReviewZone I have to agree with you on the number. Some brands are right on point with their numbers others don't match up to what they say I think Milwaukee under rates some of the tools sometimes I know Ridgid inflates it for sales and marketing purposes. Not to say that it doesn't have a lot of torque the r86037 but I don't think it's has 2200 RPM maybe take off 200 but it also depends on the battery the 4.0 definitely gives it a boost I've seen videos with the bosch idh182 we're they couldn't even remove a bolt properly with the older batteries then you put on the core and it's got some power 💪 I bet you if I had the octane 3.0 my impact driver would be a monster even my hammer drill would had made me a hundred more inch pounds of torque with the octane batteries have you tried the octane battery on the Ridgid impact driver ? Does it make a huge difference just curious I was thinking of getting two 3.0 ah octane batteries for my hammer drill and impact cuz I was definitely told that those have the higher ah cells the 6 in the 9 have the 18650 the 3.0 has the 2100 cells like the core so it's definitely a boost in power the only reason why the octane batteries the 6 in the nine are powerful to begin with with the lower amps cells is the electronics between the tool and the batteries I bet you if I want head-to-head with say. You or anyone else with the same two impacts I own if I put a the 3.0 octane battery on my impact driver and got the sun pack core 4.0 for the Bosch it'd be an even battle it's weird power is everything I'll tell you this from experience that core 6.3 is no joke I would say from what people say about the octane it's comprable
How much did you pay for it the drill battery case everything
What's the difference between the 14t and 14z???
I would like to see it sink screws into 1/4 inch plate!💪🏾🤔🤗
I cannot find this tool anywhere to buy including HD.
I just unboxed mine and my battery looks worn. Is that normal?
Na, should look new.
@@ToolReviewZone Okay thanks. The paint looks faded in certain places. Maybe someone switched out their old batteries.
also did you know there is a section that you and open for storing bits and screws.
Awe man! The XDT16 looks like it’s coming out soon! Any chance you can get your mittens on that??
Ima try buddy.
Tool Review Zone right on! That thing looks solid!
Its impressive broski
The xdt14 is the best Makita impact for the money. If your lucky you can get one with tightening mode for sheet metal. There is one better model and it's only 50in lbs stronger and it costs 90$ more than the xdt14.
Do you know the top of the case lifts up so you can fit your drill bits in it?
Sure does and sure can
The top of your case is also a storage compartment that opens up sorry know I'm way late
Wondering what the model number is in the UK?
I have that charger everyone has that makes sounds or whatever ...but mine dont does that mean it is broke
Are the two slower speeds and T mode worth it over the single (variable) speed XDT13?
The T mode is nice. I just got the newer version of this with 2 T modes and it works really well. That being said I had the impact with no speed controls and never had any issues with controlling it at low speed. You don’t need the new ones but they are sweet
And it is a little smaller, lighter, and even more powerful 👍
Thanks for the review! Did your case have the hidden compartment in the lid?
yes sir
@@ToolReviewZone Cool it looked like it did! I hope that mine does (when it finally gets here!)
@@stuartsampson2746 yeah it should Stuart. Let me know how you like it 👊
@@ToolReviewZone It finally got here! The box doesn't have the extra storage in the lid which is a bummer to be honest because there is not a much room for bit storage with the tools. Means I have get an extra bag to put everything in or some such arrangement. But the tool works great!
Wow really, that sucks bro. At least you like the tool though. Thanks for the info Stuart!
What's the price on this kite.?
Sorry it took me awhile the respond to you great review looks like it's an awesome tool watch to you to take care of your wife and kids and yourself keep on putting them out
Nice video. I think that makita case has storage in the lid. The lit itself is 2 pieces that open.
if your going to use lowe speed just get a narmal drill inpact made for high speed and makitas they all ready have a speed control on the trigger less you press slower press it all the way max speed
Trz Makita has a brand new impact driver coming out this month it's even better than the one you just showed. Also I was wondering why you didn't open the top part of that Makita impact box so you could show everybody the extra storage compartments. Peace brother
I know bro, I want to get my hands on it. I may have to check out the extra compartment thing. Didn't see that?
@@ToolReviewZone trz place your hand under the edge on the top part above the handle on the box pull away from handle and lift up and that's where all the compartments are I hope this helps. I didn't think you know about them I must have been right. Peace brother
This is hands down the best impact on the market besides the Japanese made Makita TD17. That’s the only impact that’s a little better than this model. I have both and have full faith in them both.
where u got the td 17
@@noahark4670 You can find them on ebay easy.
I forgot to add one thing I don’t care if another impact has a little more power than this because no impact takes a beating and last as long as the Makita. I never go by torque spec on the package because Rigid has always claimed to have the highest torque with some off the chart inch lb on scale when they are nowhere near as strong as listed.
Thanks for the review sold
Bro, I think they meant the entire kit weighed 12lbs not just the impact gun. The impact gun with battery weighs 3.9
Yeah I screwed that one up👊
They said 12.5 pounds for the whole box with 2, 5amp batteries, charger, impact driver and case
Lmfao common sense ain’t it
Makita makes the best impacts this is not even the premium model
I am definitely going to get more Makita on the channel. I really like this driver
@@kingofthecrease30 the gen 3 is the most powerful on the market but is also the first Milwaukee impact to compete with makita. Gen 2 got smoked
@@kingofthecrease30 power is not always key as well the td171 is close to gen 3 in power with a nicer chuck smoother drive and more ergonomic grip
@@kingofthecrease30 that's like your opinion is Milwaukee is best I'm my experience they always overrate their tools with torque ratings just like when gen 2 came out saying 1800 inch pounds and got spanked by makita dtd148 which is 1550 dont be brainwashed by red China champ
@@kingofthecrease30 lol you better hope makita doesn't come out with a new premium drill anytime soon that makita has been around through all 3 gens of Milwaukee and finally they made one that could beat it
hate those button's all hitting then when trying to put a screw in
Yeah I can understand that
Does anyone know if dewalt is better
Couldn't help but notice it didn't take the lug nuts off.
you missed an entire compartment in the makita box....
My love !
the top of the case opens too, secret compartment
I dont khow but ridgid driver have 2,250 in lbs of torque
Your the first I said anything to, but they are coming out with a 6 mode OCTANE impact. Our little secret
Hey man i only share my opinion
Wow is it more powerful than the Milwaukee
The Milwaukee has 450 more lbs of inch torque and the same 3600 rpm. I'm going to run them side my side to see what happens. I'll do a vid for it
@@ToolReviewZone I can't wait to watch that video
450 more inch pounds on paper
Makita is like a Toyota
It doesnt have quick shift mode
Makita does better than the 887
Its cute
First comment!!!!! But I wanted to say makita is better. Just like Chevy is better than ford. Right? And love the videos. As soon as I see you got a new one, I click it ASAP!!!!
Ryan, your awesome man. Thank you so much for the awesome comment, it truly means a lot. I really gained a lot of respect for Makita after using this
this a home owner drill made for home owners
This isn't a drill..?
12lbs will be the whole package lol case charger battery drill
This is the old model, buy their newest one and do a review.
I'll try to get my hands on it
@@ToolReviewZone i just ordered mine today, should be here by monday february 18, they JUST came out. XDT16Z, its the replacement for the xdt12 . xdt12 is a little better then the xdt14, but the one you have is great
Let me know how you like it Main!
Sir this prodact is china
FYI you say FYI a lot
Fyi, your correct
Made in China 🇨🇳
it doesn't weigh 12 twelve pounds 😂
Haha my normal 18v 1.3amp ryobi drill puts bolts in faster
The ryobi is a lot heavier though and won't last aslong.
dewalts are worst tool ever i know lot people burning the motor out they all ways have a heat problem
Yeah I had one burn up on me the first time I used it. Not sure what the issue is with them lately
