They nailed it! Choc full of features, looks bad-ass, and kept that price point in the sweet spot!
They basically fixed all the little things the other manufacturers keep missing! That's amazing. I hope they make accessory arms that you can attach (like on the Came-tv Single) because having those multiple points of contact is amazing even on the smaller gimbals!

I'll start by saying I rarely comment on YT, however, it must be said. There are so many people providing videos on photography here on YT but none (that I've seen) come close to being as entertaining while providing that info. Outside of the quality cinematography with the amazing edits and jumps and sequence, outside of the great content in each video, and all other qualities aside, you just have a naturally entertaining personality meant for the screen. I could watch you read a dictionary brosef. Truly great work. Also, I've never even heard another YTer use the word lexicon so extra points awarded for style! lol.

I've used both the Crane 2 and this (was lucky to demo for about 4 hours)...and honestly, it seems the DJI is just "copying"...don't get me wrong, it's a great gimbal, but so far I have not seen anything new from it that hasn't already been on the market. And the Ronin-m was just a pitiful product overall if you are a run and gun type.
The best feature is that sloped motor in the back, but it doesn't warrant the price tag... UNLESS you are using beastly gear on it.
BBBUUUUUUuuuuuuttt... this is BY FAR the best shot unboxing I've seen. Peter NEVER lets us down!

Zhiyun crane v2 is in the market for a long time
They like the name ''DJI'', that's all. And DJI are paying heavy for publicity. The crane 2 does the same thing plus control iso, shutter and aperture.
I think you mean crane 2, not v2, but yeah it’s great. I own one, but this is next level. More power, more refined, more features.

Nice! Handheld 3-axis gimbals are where it's at! Just recently upgraded from PilotFly's H2 to their Adventurer gimbal - it's a little more pricey than the Ronin-S... but they've actually had the bent rear arm / Manfrotto plate for a while now, and make some of the best performing handheld gimbals out there in my opinion. Let me know if you want to do a shootout between the Adventurer and the Ronin-S! :)
So i just bought the Ronin S two days ago. It will be in the mail Thursday. I'm so happy to finally be able to use a gimble. I know there's a new upgraded DJI Ronin gimble out now but I had to go with what I can afford. And I finally got one. So hopefully I can start making some great content in the near future.

I actually bought the crane2 a while ago and wanted to buy the roninS as well but after seeing this review i am not so sure anymore.
I understans the idea that is better than the first ronin model but is not better than all the other gimbals... or if so.. not that huge difference as presented.

I mean I love you Pete, but this is hyped up way to much. The Zhiyun Crane 2 has all this plus you can adjust the actual camera settings with the gimbal. I would say the only benefit to the Ronin-s is that offset motor, but I have the Crane 2 and honestly it doesn't bother me. I can use a C100 with a 24-105mm L series lens seamlessly on the Crane 2, and I dont think you would be wanting to use much more weight with this style gimbal because it would become to much to hold and control for extended periods of time.
The Ronin-S looks cool, and is maybe just slightly better than other gimbals that are the same price, but all in all, this is just another gimbal.

Kirk Lepiten - in my opinion, vlogging where you are walking with the camera facing yourself tends to look a little weird actually with a gimbal. I love gimbals and use them in my own videos pretty often, but I think they can make vlogging look a little sterile or robotic sometimes
Benjamin Freddie I actually do agree with you. Call me lazy or cheap but I like the handheld look. Gimbals make footage look too floaty in my opinion.
