Something I have learned making videos and taking photos all these years, is sometimes its the smaller adjustments, that make the biggest impact! Hope this helped a few of you!
ND filters are a game changer for filming cars. If you try to crank up the shutter speed, it will make LED headlights look like they are flickering. With the ND filter, you can expose properly and keep the shutter at 1/50 so the LED’s don’t flicker.
Question: Would you stack 2 separate filters (ND + Polarizer) OR use ND/PL filter combo for filming cars on a bright sunny day? OR only use one or the other?
Not at all, he just did the biggest favor for them! They are probably very proud and happy Peter pretty much just did a sponsored video without even making a deal with them!
Without a deal?? This is so much an ad, which is totally cool cause Peter needs to pay the bills and make a living. Its better to have these kind of ad's then the shameless go buy this.
dude! if i was an eskimo and you were selling ice. i would still buy it... what a presentation. heck i ordered everything. i didnt even realise i needed any of that... u rock man.. srsly and this is no joke. every single thing i have bought is because you showcased it one way or another. peace man! u rock
I know this is an old clip, but I have to say, you not only have a load of experience, you have a ton of personality that is so great. keep it up beeing you PM.
Hi peter, i saved up a 1300 pounds to buy a canon 80D and and an f1.8 lens with stabilisers ready to start vlogging and making content, and taking photos and i loved it UNTILL THEY STOLE my camera at Primark i couldn't sleep for a whole week man, months of saving gone just like that and to add insult to my wound security at Primark said the security camera where it got stolen was apparently not working reported it stolen and the police who took my details hasn't gotten back to me in a week now, its been super bad and dreams crushed, but you keep inspiring me though. thanks.
Those step up and step down rings sound great. I think I understand you that you buy the rings you need that fits your standard size ND filter threads and then has the thread size for the various lenses you use on the inside. So I would need a few of those rings to match the various thread sizes on the lenses that I use. Especially when you're renting lenses on a regular bases and can't keep buying filters for every lens you use. I'm off to Amazon to see what the options are. Great tip!
i still get a giggle every time you try and incorporate magic into your videos. the occasional card flip here, lens disappear there, no matter how lame magic is its funny to see its still at the heart of what you want to do
"No I'm not sorry, we're crushing good content here!" Heck yeah hahahaha, Peter, you just earned another subscriber just out of that comment alone. I love your passion and your energy. thank you for posting. please keep posting.
129$ for an UV filter ... thats more expensive than insurance ... no no - there are cheaper options out there with proven quality if you are into filters
I was getting so stressed out at the countdown (even though I could see that the video was over eleven minutes) because I loved what the video was on! I was thinking “two minutes is not enough!” Thanks for going over time to teach me!
.. Peter I love you maan you changed my photography BIG BIG FREAKIN TIME! Always on your channel because your content is educational AF! Mega appreciation for you maan all the way from the Kingdom of Eswatini (Previously known as Swaziland)
I thought the same thing too but its a really really slight difference, it softens up the sharp edges just enough to make a difference if you look closely enough
can you make a video about mirrorless vs dslrs. i have heard that mirrorless has gotten a lot better and after watching many videos i'm not sure what to get.
I'm so glad to hear someone say that about the UV filter...I honestly can never see a difference. I thought I was just missing the point or something. UV filter= bodyguard. hahaha
This totally helps explain the use of filters! Love how the ND filter looks & the polarizer! Thanks again for another entertaining tutorial, Peter! - Brian (and Erin!)
Doesn't really matter. For video and photography I would recommend Sony. If you want to shoot photos then I would recommend Canon or Nikon. Nikon bodies are bulkier, they can be perfect depending on your hand size. Canon has "better skin tones", many people prefer it. Go to a store and handle the bodies to find out which one you prefer. Don't focus too much in a good body, what matters are lenses and the photographer behind the camera.
I learned so much from you Peter! Thanks for the amazing content again. Last week before my trip to Spain i bought some ND filters and it works AMAZING!!
Great content Peter, thanks for explaining it all! I love how you're making fun of your own clumsiness. Oh and that build in cloth in he filter case! ❤️ Nice
Hey @Peter! If one day you hang around downtown Toronto and you want to take a coffee (or a meal) for free, just shoot me a message! I want at least to thank you for all these awesome videos you do continuously! 😉
AWESOME *12 minute* Tuesday! I LOVE that you went over 2 minutes, this is valuable information, well explained and entertaining to watch. Thanks for the fabulous video! CRUSHING GOOD CONTENT!
Hey Peter I am a young lady who comes from little to knowledge of photography I want to start making videos and taking photos even if it's just a way of me expressing myself what is your advice and what camera do you think I should start with?
Okay, I'm pretty fresh when it comes to making photography/ videography but at a point where people around the community have taken notice and I've been hired now from a couple real estate agents with the finish products turning out really good. So you'll might laugh and if i knew any better I would laugh too after reading what i wrote right before this but for the camera im using and have been since buying it a year and some change ago is a Rebel SL2. Ive been looking to upgrade but honestly i dont get where the Sl2 sits in between them all and a few Sony cameras have been sticking out. So basically i just want to know what you think of what everyone thinks about it and what camera i should be looking to upgrade to. Thanks DNova
Newby in photography...Question: Can't you reach the same effect with exposure compensation? So set the compensation darker when the image is too bright?
Aloha Peter, thanks for all the great tutorials. I saw you like knives. You should check out Hiko Ito Custom knives. He makes them in Hawaii and they are amazing works of art.
Hey Peter, another great informative video again! As a result of this tutorial I'm looking at Pro-Mist filters for improving to look of streaming videos - but I'm confused (nothing new!). What's the difference between 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 Pro-Mist filters? I'm guessing it has something to do with the degree of effect the filter imparts. If so, what level Pro-Mist filter would you most commonly use? THANKS!
HI Peter! I Love the vibe I'm getting from You, the way You explain things, even for someone like me that already knows many things You talk about, is just fun to watch AND is always quick and informative. BUT (there's always a but): Could You please make sure that the level of Your audio ist the same, after every cut, or insert? No video is professional if You change it. Sound is at least 80% of the experience!!! thanks

lol.... you can fix that problem :P
so you do 24fps ?
Question: Would you stack 2 separate filters (ND + Polarizer) OR use ND/PL filter combo for filming cars on a bright sunny day? OR only use one or the other?
Thanks for the tip!
@@latinissimovideos5701 i have the same question
The people at polar pro are pissed cause they have to keep sending Peter new filters when he makes them disappear.
Not at all, he just did the biggest favor for them! They are probably very proud and happy Peter pretty much just did a sponsored video without even making a deal with them!
Michael Lacroix for sure
Without a deal?? This is so much an ad, which is totally cool cause Peter needs to pay the bills and make a living. Its better to have these kind of ad's then the shameless go buy this.
Eric Shio - heyyyyy!!!!!
Michiel van Zummeren totally agree, this is a total sponsored ad, but would prefer if it gets labeled *ad like they have to on other platforms

Peter uploads, you drop everything you’re doing.
That’s just common sense
Dude you are in fact a video God. I just learned so much about filters just now. I hope I can grow up to be like you 1 day in my videos.
I know this is an old clip, but I have to say, you not only have a load of experience, you have a ton of personality that is so great. keep it up beeing you PM.

Buy on QVC and do the flex pay. That way you will get your camera for making a small payment.

This should be titled “What camera filters you NEED to get”
I am lovin' the bandaid!
can you make a video on tone curve tips & tricks (or how to use it) in lightroom?
I wish I could call $250 "relatively cheap" 😂
I recently bumped into your channel and I gotta say, your videos are AMAZING!!

I was getting so stressed out at the countdown (even though I could see that the video was over eleven minutes) because I loved what the video was on! I was thinking “two minutes is not enough!” Thanks for going over time to teach me!
Pete whats the best tripod under your list of your favorite items in the description??
If you are shooting on a cine camera like the Blackmagic Pocket. I suggest you use Shutter Angle instead of Shutter Speed :)
in love with this video, now i finally know what exactly is a ND filter !!! and every each other filter! !
Can you do a video on how to get consistent audio levels? Then run it through this video?
I feel like ur content has taught me more than all the other tutorials and classes I have ever took!
Hi Peter. Thanks for the interesting video about the different filters. Looking forward to seeing more videos in the future.
It's eye amusing that he wore a jacket of the same deep colour of the lens in the thumbnail.
Is it possible to attach two filters at the same time? If so, in what kind of scenario would that be useful?

I don't see any difference with the pro mist filter.

I like how peter just does magic in his video casually like yeah i do this everyday
Thanks Peter. I need to get those ND lens filters.
Hey Peter, where did you get your hoodie? It’s pretty dope
Any tips for getting good shots of something on a screen? I don't want to use a screen recorder.
Slight of hand, left hand thumb holding it then right thumb holding it then dropped into his hoodie pockets. Nice work.
Just went through a break up and this vid of all vids helped me up a notch 😊 Thanks for the great content and and ur positive vibs man!
At nearly $300 per filter, it's nice that they include a case and cloth.
Pause the video at 2:43. Is it ad friendly??? *See his hands...
can you make a video about mirrorless vs dslrs. i have heard that mirrorless has gotten a lot better and after watching many videos i'm not sure what to get.
Can you make a video in depth for circular polariser
I'm so glad to hear someone say that about the UV filter...I honestly can never see a difference. I thought I was just missing the point or something. UV filter= bodyguard. hahaha
I cannot watch a Peter mckinnon video, without making coffee in my lens coffee cup

Okay I'm sick going through comments. I assume these filters stack? Like screw on to each other, so you can use a UV and a ND at the same time?
Hey Peter I am a young lady who comes from little to knowledge of photography I want to start making videos and taking photos even if it's just a way of me expressing myself what is your advice and what camera do you think I should start with?
Buying a crap ton of step-up rings so you can use a 72mm on a 49mm XD
Nice product placement ty

Would you recommend the polarizer lens to shoot for property photography, to make it easier in post production for window pulling?
Super soft "hardcase".
I used this same song in a video I made! I wondered where I recognised it from... remember playing around with the stems! Epidemic Sound bants.
These filters are dope
What do you think about variable ND filters?
what's a filter you'd recommend for concert photography? when it's super harsh lights on stage but the crowd is super dark..?
I can see it in your left sleeve. Use darker colors
hey peter how did you get that natural camera shake through out the video?
I'm here for the magic tricks!
