How to Reduce Wheel Hop on a FWD Car
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 тра 2020
- With light wheels and grippy tires paired with soft bushings and engine mounts, wheel hop is a thing and it can be extremely destructive. In this video, you will see how problematic my control arms are, and how I get around to solving the problem.
Later in the video where I say the arms nearly fixed it, I was wrong. IT SOLVED IT!! Under load, you’ll see my suspension lift which made me think it was moving. You’ll see what I mean!
Feel free to take a look at the tools and products I’ve outlined in this video. By purchasing items below, it helps my channel operate and brings more awesome content your ways. Thank you all for your generous support!! 💙

Since my new Civic is going to be replacing this Accord, these control arms are for sale. For details, email me at milanmastracci@gmail.com
just emailed you!!
Are there any bushing options for 9g guys I only see poly bushings for the 8g accords (up to 2012) thanks
are these still for sale?
Mil your videos are super concise, extremely well edited and presented, I genuinely want more people to watch you man, I hope your channel keeps growing.
I hope so too! Thanks for the feedback brother 👊 feel free to share some of my videos!
WOW! I've repaired stuff on cars before and knew wheel hop was a thing, but that wheel hop looks quite extreme! Maybe newer cars have more of a squishy bushing for added comfort. Now I know why my softer tyres wore out so quickly despite proper alignment, balancing and rotation. Thanks for a great video!
after ciss fix i think this is the only channel i know... who explains everything perfectly... love you bro keep it up piece
Thanks a ton
8:46 I see you looking at that girl 👀😂
just watching out for pedestrians. #safetyfirst 😏
BEST CHANNEL been following for years helped me a ton with my v6 coupe
Perfect time for this video to come out checked mine yesterday and noticed they were shot and been looking at upgrading
These will be a big upgrade over the stock rubber 🔥
Loved the explanation with the arrows, very straight forward to understand, thanks. Missing the old outtro though, keep up the good work Milan 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much! You mean the outro song?
milanmastracci yes 👍👍👍
came from your 2 yr old 100$ sand cabinet video and you got a new sub I like car content
Just got a ‘13 accord v6 coupe and noticed this when driving hard on corners and when trying to launch the car, im definitely gonna look into upgrading my control arms, wheels, tires, and shocks
Great vid, I really gotta get this done the wheel hop on my 9th gen accord v6 coupe is BRUTAL lol
Thanks man! Those bushings paired with better engine mounts make every difference 🙌
I have the same car and it soons so much before it launches😭
There’s still deflection because your upper control arm has rubber bushings as well
I love everything you vlog, well explained and nice presentation, keep it up sir and always stay safe, long time subscriber here from the philippines, always stay connected👍😊.
Thanks and welcome!
I’ve been planning to do poly Bushings for so long now to my saab 9-3 I will be making a homemade strut brace also
What an awesome guide man, how you doing with the k20/24 frank build ? I think a lot of us are waiting the next episode !!
Working on it! Waiting for my machinist to get the valve guides honed 👍
Great video, Thanks man! 👍🏻
No problem 👍
excited for the dyno
Vid on what questions I should as the tuner and when to know if I'm paying to much for a tune
Good stuff milan!!
Thanks brother! 👊
Wow!!! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Daaang zaddy with the shades 😍
I need to do this in my car. I have also noticed shifting motor mounts have helped my mazda with launching, accelerating, and under decel.
These will help a ton! 💪
Now this is some good info.
Thank you my guy! 🙌
outstanding!!!
to eliminate wheel hop there are something you would need to change/upgrade and or add. im speaking from an integra point of view: lower torque upgrade from rubber to polyurethane and the most noticeable upgrade is to add a traction bar. these items will eliminate wheel hop
Cool video😎
Thank you! 🤘
2nd comment ...Love your videos bro💯👏👏cant wait for the mini to be running again
Very soon!
As usual, this is a sweet upgrade and one i have been looking into. I found urethane replacement bushing, but struggled to find anything like these links... nice! Are there by any chance part numbers that i ask for or look for on the site, because they do not have an auto breakdown that i could see. Part numbers would be a huge help. Thanks again for the great and typically spot on content! 😉
They have a kit designed for the Honda Accord. I'd send them a message to find the kit 👍
@@milanmastracci I checked with them and they only offer a kit for up to a 2007 Accord. Mine being a 2012 they said they don't offer anything for my year Accord. Not sure what is so different, but...
Will need to do some more research. Disappointed.
You shouldn't use poly bushings for the compliance bushing due to how the bushing is designed to flex. The stock bushings moves more like a bearing, so poly wouldn't work in that location.
You are amazing Milan.
Always wait for your precious videos.
Just love them
Thank you so much 😀
Bro, those wheels look killer🔥. I just bought enkei Rajjin wheels not too long ago but they look similar to urs. I wish we could meet up but I’m all the way in Manitoba 🤣😂.
Road trip? 🙈
Traction bar really helps to
Milan, you can also install some traction bars to delete this movement :) Just as an fyi from germany !
When you doing the motor build for accord I’m waiting
So if i have wheel hop now, will it get even worse if i only upgrade to stickier tires?
Does those pu lowering bushes ruin comfort more fibrations in the interieur ?
I have a 09 fit. My driver side axle snapped in half going 10 mph turning. The car doesnt move any direction. Could this be as easy as replace the axle or did it mess up the transmission in the process?
I went to the site but I’m not sure which are the ones that are my size for the spherical bearings, help? I have a 2008 accord coupe as well
Buying a 2012 Honda Accord coupe v6 tmrw :)
Monica loves your car.
Tell her Joey says, Hey how YOU doing?
Got moog ball joints for my si weren’t quite the right fit oem is best
Does the old radius rod bushing can do this type of wheel hop like wheel go forward and backward ???
Followed the bushings link couldnt find them anywhere on the site, they still on there? Id like to buy some if you have an updated link.
What are the part numbers for the pci spherical bushings the link will not work for me
Are you upgrading your suspension?
What did you do to your car
Wanna give me a hand finding bushes for a forte Koup TD? In Australia here the shops don't reply when it's too technical 😂
7th gen accord also same
Brother I have one question, can I fill the OEM arm control with polyurethane , do you think it’s going to work ? 🤔 thank you
i know people would do that with motor mounts back in the day with integra.
Yes it will work... I did this on engine mounts, rear trailling arm and basically on any mounts that have compliance hole in it...
Its provide a nice and firmer strength wihout the harshness if aftermarket full pu bushing...
thats a mad amount of movement
Tell me about it!
Hey man great video! Like to ask you a question I have a 8th gen civic si. When I had full stock suspension other then coil overs I had no wheel hop. I changed the control arms and links and ball joints, hardrace very stiff. I also changed my coilovers. Now I have bad wheel hop. I do realize the new coilovers have a softer spring rate. Can that be the problem?
It can be linked to a couple of things. Tire compound / grip, spring rates, bushing durometer / type, etc. Which control arms did you change, and what bushings do they have in them?
This video might be beneficial to you: ua-cam.com/video/MwL-7JxzJjg/v-deo.html
Hey man, any suggestions for an intake on a 2010 accord coupe I-4? Everything is stock and I am going to start small modifications one by one. Thanks!
K&N Typhoon if you want an SRI and get Inken if you want CAI that can become an SRI.
Do the control arm upgrades reduce wheel hop as much as dog bone engine mounts? Which would you recommend to prioritize and why? Thank you!
I would prioritize this over engine mounts, however both would be ideal as they both reduce the amount of movement.
And for the subframe do I upgrade to spherical bushings or poly urethane?
For this car, the subframe is bolted directly to the chassis.
Had this happen today as I was backing out of a parking space. It scared the hell out me, felt like I only had 2 lug nuts on my rear passenger wheel or something
Yeah its sketchy!! Makes the entire vehicle shake like it's going to fall apart.
Engine mounts?
I damned learned something today
Nice wheels what are the specs of the nt03s?
The NT03 specs are 19x9.5+27, and my PF01s are 18x8.5+35
Nankang Ar-1 are such underrated tires for the price you pay
Couldn't agree with you more! I have them on my Accord and MINI 🙌
@@milanmastracci try Maxxis vr1
Did you feel some vibration with the new stiff bushings?
Nope! Awesome upgrade 👍
will this make torque steer even more pronounced.
Probably reduce it, less stuff moving in unwanted ways under power. Big thing is going to be power and difference in axle length on the right side of the transaxle vs the left side.
Max halloway?
Can’t wait for the engine swap !!!!!!!
Which bushing are you using? I checked the PCI website and I don't find any Accords.
You have to email them to get the part! I believe it is a TL or TSX specific bushing, with a sleeve to fit the Accord control arm
whats the precise number for the spherical bushing
Spherical Bearing Kit -Front Lower Control Arm ('04-'08 TSX, '03-'07 Accord, '04-'08 TL), PLEASE INCLUDE SLEEVES FOR 2009 HONDA ACCORD
How long will PCI bushings last? They're open to dust and dirt ... that's fine for track days, but what about daily use?
They've lasted me with daily driving, winter driving, track driving, and have no play in them or signs of use really. I will degrease them and spray a bit of lubricant on them every once in awhile, but I'm yet to have any issues.
@@milanmastracci Sounds great 👍
Leann may have her problems down below, but she still looks great up above. Such a classic body style. Too bad they ended it. Hey, you got your hair cut LOL! Are things opening up in Ontario?
Things are very slowly opening up in ontario here with restrictions on the amount of people that can be in a building at a time though
Yeah I know what you mean! I'm still annoyed that Honda never made the accord RWD or even AWD. It would have performed so much better!! Things are opening up in Ontario, but not barber shops. I couldn't stand how long my hair was getting so I gave in lol I got my mom to help me shave it ahah #1 on the sides and #4 up top 👌
Wow .. Time to check my bushings ... But have no power tools lol
You can get this entire job done without the use of power tools 👍
Upgrade motor mounts?
Upgraded motor mounts make a big difference, of polyurethane DIY mounts like I made
Where did you source your K24 engines I also live in the niagara area
I found one of them on FB marketplace 👍
milanmastracci thanks for the reply what did you do with the tsx k24 bottom end
Where can I get those flashing leds??
It only flashes like that because of my camera. In person, they don't flash.
Kool video. Links to products dont work.
They should be
Is this related to the front of my civic jumping when I take off
Yes! Same thing happening. That jumping and shaking feeling in the car is called wheel hop.
@@milanmastracci for me engine mounts make the most difference for wheel hop at the expense of nvh
Then Ig i gotta replace my bushings for my 88 accord
What happened to K24 build?
I reached a hiccup. The machine shop didn't have the proper size hone for the inner diameter of the valve guides, and shipping has been stupid lately. Its coming!
Me launching my 266k protege5 😅
I thought you “gave away this car”
I wonder how it'd be to replace the bushings with bearings
traction bar end of story
XD
Is this a v6?
K24
❤❤❤❤
❤️
Its ridiculous they allow this to happen from the factory in performance cars. They need to have upgraded bushings and suspension so that our cars are not destroyed
Couldn't agree with you more! It's like they didn't even consider it when designing it
finally got a haircut bro. nice haha
Yeah I did! It was well needed ahha
@@milanmastracci hahaha🙏
So if it buy these I gotta get someone to make my spherical bushings fit in my new control arm part??? Whose can do that a mechanic? A welder? Exhaust man
If you have the OEM control arms, you only need to press them in. Most aftermarket ones aren't built to the exact same spec as OEM, so that's why I had to get mine machined.
People say you are the most dangerous man on UA-cam.
i drifted my fucking tsx going 85 i wasnt even turning it just started swerving lane to lane out of nowhere how can i make this never happen again
Looks like my accord is missing a suspension upgrade 😳
You won't regret it 🙌
honda accord. 100 compound tire. Im done.
Oh hell yeah 🤙
Best way I find to fix a fwd car is to buy a rwd one 😂. Jokes
i've learned to enjoy FWD. Both drive trains are quite great to drive on track, for some reason tho, i dislike AWD, the heavy understeer is always nerve racking
@@flush_entity
Nah, AWD is king. Just drive it like it's a FWD, your exit acelaration is your main weapon.
Why did you come here just to talk shit?
😆😆😆 that's a good one though Lol
My whole dash fell off
