Great video ! How did you remove the air vents trim ?

Thank you! You'll need to take the whole silver plate off, flip it over and the vents are attached with a couple of screws on the back

Yeah, if you use interior removal tools it makes it much easier.

Hi Jamie, have you ever considered doing a boot light retrofit? I'm looking into doing it myself, but it seems to be very obscure

Absolutely! It's on my list and I'll be certain to make a video when I do! the new lights are way better in my view, so it has to be done!

I don't know how you didn't stamp on it at some point during the process. I'd have probably done so after seeing the masking tape residue.

Honestly, I was close to tears 😂 There are some jobs that change you forever. This was one of them! The silver lining is that I learnt SO much from doing it and I'm hoping I won't repeat the same mistakes again, as I am going to be doing some more painting shortly!

why the neighbor just buy a 50L air compressor from LIDL? and no thing can compare to spray gun.

I guess people feel comfortable with what they know. I'll be on the look out in LIDL for one!

Absolutely would have been easier, and I spent time looking for a replacement, but they are really hard to find! It's actually easier to find modded covers for bigger/third party screens than a replacement for the original one. Doing this gave me a chance to learn a ton, so I value it for that.

The reason the first lacquer finish was poor was because you didn’t get a thick enough coat on. With gloss finishes there is a fine line between too little and too much. Also, standard spray lacquer is mostly thinners and when this evaporates the resulting layer is extremely thin, so you end up having to do loads of coats. With regard to the 2K (which is vastly better), if you want a smoother finish you wait for it to dry then sand flat with very fine wet and dry and polish it back to gloss. If the plastic is already the colour of the final finish you can just sand out the scratches and go straight to the lacquer. The warm water in a bucket trick just increases pressure in the can by heating the gas. It’s often used when trying to use an almost empty can and I have seen boiling water poured over the can (obviously some danger is involved). Finally, a thorough shaking of the can is essential - always shake until it stops rattling 😊😂
