When it comes time to service the air filter all that you have to do is remove and replace the fender; brilliant. And you can only drive when it’s not raining - the cone filter will become soaked in no time.
Ha , not everyone does so thank you. It is a lot of effort for questionable benefit - i do very low mileage so filter will not need frequent replacement
Looks great, but it will get all wet... Thanks for sharing. I have a problem with the drenage from the cab being cloged up. Thanks to you, I now know where it is and how it looks!
I wondered why I never saw anyone do this before. Replacing the filter seems like a pain but if it was RACECAR you could just hack up the quarter panel a bit and put a custom cover over it after.
I’ll be worried about getting it super wet and hydro locking the engine… IF there’s a ton of water coming through the side vent .. but that can be remedied with a deflector added behind/inside the vent to divert the air/water around the filter but still allow air to enter the area..! AND get rid of the accordion style pipe it’s bad for flow
A big fan of yours from South Korea. I hope U’re planning to do something with ur soft top soon so that I can learn from u. Coz I too have some problems such as chapped edges.
Thanks for the suggestion. However, mine is brown colored because my car is v-edition. I tried to apply silicone too but I couldn’t find it with matching color. Maybe I should replace it.
Dude soo much work for the same result..you all ready had the ram air effect due to the stock ducting..I would just build some kind of shielding at the back of the filter at the location you had it..although testing new things is part of evolution..so keep testing 👍
You are 💯 pc right - I just had an absolute need to get that air filter as a true side intake, as i have not seen another attempt and wanted to see if it was possible
I’ve heard it said quite a few times that these cone filters do absolutely nothing for power compared to the stock box.. _Just wondering your thoughts_
Every car is different… on some cars it doesn’t make a difference over a high flow panel filter like a K&N…. BUT on some cars there’s been dyno proof of a 10-20hp increase…. Just check the car you’re modding and worse case it’s a great sounding effect!
So i have yet to test the theory but I believe i may be able to replace the filter through the side intake when the black plastic intake cover is removed
