    I really want a c5 z06. I see c5’s all day long 10-17k for the base models and z06’s for around 20k even in this crazy used car market I still think it’s a great deal for the car you are getting.

      That's exactly the way I see it after owning multiple C6's and a C4. The C5 is a real sweet spot in 2023 for a 'vette without absolutely blowing the budget.

      I bought used z06 sway bars, moog end links, springs, and new c6 z06 shocks for very little money. I personally wanted a base because I love the targa top.

    Welding is so cool, that was the first time I've ever willingly sat through a UA-cam advertisement lol

    We just put fresh rubber on our C5, doing brakes, tunnel plate and corsa extreme this week. These are the best bang for performance you can get right now

      I agree. Right now, they are a good bang for the buck all quirks aside. With a couple of modifications they are great cars.

    I heard northern Minnesota in one of your Iroc videos. Love Irocs! Where in Minn? I'm originally from Intl Falls on the border, eh? So I'll have to catch up on your Camaro vids .... peace.

    Sweet vette... but nothing I've seen here makes me want to give up my Firehawk.

    Might check / change the transmission fluid as a possible fix for the occasional shift problem.
    Looks like a fun ride.
    Like the lines of the C-5’s, most of all the Vettes.
    Would like to do one taking the chassis and brakes back to analog and a stand alone ECM.
    I suspect Chevy left many cards on the table, especially for compromises via the electronics.

      I agree 100% on them being over "electronic'd." One of these with zero nannies would be a great car overall.
      They three so much tech at them for the time, that today it hurts them when it all starts malfunctioning.

    Check the shifter alignment, there's a procedure for it. C5s like synthetic trans fluid and it's got to be warm to shift perfectly. Shifter bushings dry rot too, replace with urethane bushings. If alignment, new bushings and a fluid change don't fix it, you got a bad synchro. Get a short throw too, stock C5 shifter is like rowing a boat.

    The C5 is awesome. Except when it comes to anything drivetrain related. It is often not possible for the DIY guy to replace a clutch or trans or something like that. They are awesome cars though.

    • @ls2c3
      @ls2c3 Рік тому

      Easy to change clutch. Just drop the rear suspension and driveline.

      Yes. I have done it.

    • @Greenlightfilming
      @Greenlightfilming  Рік тому

      Agreed, a clutch/Trans or torque turbe service is much more daunting than most traditional driveline setups.

    Coolant should be orange?

    • @Greenlightfilming
      @Greenlightfilming  Рік тому +1

      Yes, they used dexcool from the factory. It has the tendency to turn into gunk and clog up when it's not regularly maintained. It's common to switch back to green coolant when you do a drain.

    Are you willing to sell those Wled wheels and tires? I have a 2000 Trans Am that would love to have some new shoes and feet. Please let me know of a good way to contact you. I live in NC, so I know shipping is a big factor. Just let me know either way.

    The C6 is hands down the best Corvette. C5 is slow and has no tech.

    • @Greenlightfilming
      @Greenlightfilming  Рік тому +3

      I disagree with your point. The c5 would only be lacking a navigation screen when you talk about tech.
      The C5 and C6 have the same amenities inside, including a HUD.
      The c5's aren't much slower than a LS2 corvette either. You have to consider it's usually 10k more expensive for a c6 as well.
