As amusing as it always is when you take a slip, your superhuman ability to manage to say “Ow” instead of a choice expletive is extraordinary. And thank you for going above and beyond for a signal post and ladder, good sir. Yet another video that has made my day!
Fair play, that's a solid walk all the way around there. I know it fairly well as I ride some of those paths on my way up to Sherwood pines but never realised they were old rail lines! My old man was a miner and we used to live by the side of the railway, we grew up messing around on the tracks and the old pit sites. Thanks for the upload.
There’s a good walk from Kirkby & Annesley Colliery sites across to Pinxton with remains of Langton Colliery right in between. There’s remains of old Victorian metal lamp post & bits hidden among the bushes 👍
There's a mining museum at Bilsthorpe, I believe some of the colliery has been built on. You can walk from Bilsthorpe to southwell down the old railway track
Ouch hope you ok After fall awesome video as always and when I get paid I’ll visit the awesome merch shop thanks again for the epic and informative content 😊 job well done
@@IckeWalks I’ve seen a few bands there. I’ve never gigged there myself. Yeah I’ve listened to your music before, actually, I’ve heard quite a lot you’ve done. I only knew you were making these videos coz big Phil got in touch with me many weeks back.
@31:02 The bridge on the video was built near the end of the 90's. The bridge in the picture claimed as the original doesn't look how i remember it to look, it seemed much narrower spanning the gap and built almost like a dark tunnel made of blue brick which came down to the track level each side. I was only a child through to a teenager at that time but, im pretty sure my memory is correct . The original bridge was only demolished around 2001/2 ish to build access to the cycle track. I used to walk this line in the 90's when it was just ballast and then used to build dens on the embankments when it became cycle track into the mid 00's.
That sounds about right, mate. I wondered if they had just strengthened it with concrete, but would make sense as I imagine the road is a lot wider than it was.
@@IckeWalks The road wasnt much narrower as it was the main road, it was just diverted toward the bypass roundabout instead of through the village. They bridges were sat probably less than 2ft apart before it was demolished.
the line from Blidworth over the Bridge , as you would have seen filters out and it hoofs you off the trackbed, Northbound. Shame really its only really a mile or so until it would join up with its Northern entrance into Rufford and then the trailing trail in from Bilsthorpe.

Yeah, surprised the lot hasn't been pieced together as a large scale walking hub. Loads going off
The real problems start when we have burnt out EVs
