After bringing my Filipina fiancé over to the US when our plane first landed in Dallas in February and when walking out of the plane onto the jetway, she said, "What is that? Aircon, mahal?" I smiled and replied, "No hunny that is the outside weather :)" She couldn't believe weather could get so cold :) The first thing we did when we landed in Pensacola later that night at 10:30 pm was run to Walmart for her rice cooker :) How we love our Filipinas :) I am alright with it as long as I don't have to eat the fish heads. LOL

My wife is from Thailand and landed in Chicago on a -15F day. She had a thin jacket with her and I asked if she wanted to wear my jacket and gloves to get to the car. She said that she'd be fine with just the thin jacket, she thought, since the international terminal is quite close to the parking. She got into the probably 30F walkway to exit the terminal and very quickly changed her mind lol. Our first stop after heading out was to the store to get a nice coat for her.

Went to Cali only 3 months ago with my wife. 2 coffees, 2 bagels $25. McDonalds average combo no supersize $12-14. (1 person). Sit down restaurants with a beer averaged S50 per person (Cali and Arizona). At the time I paid up to $7 a gallon for gas (not in Beverly Hills). When I moved from the US I was paying $400 a month medical for 2 persons, $1200 a year car insurance (2007 Accord) rent on my house would have been $2000 a month. That was 6 years ago. My son has a masters and couldn’t find a place to rent so he teaches English in foreign countries. Life in the USA is not easy. Good luck.

Chrissy can probably study for a pharmacy technician certification and pass it easily with her current knowledge in nursing. There is a shortage of them in many areas now. I was at a Fil-Am party two weeks ago and the host used to be the manager of the Reuben E Lee restaurant for several years. I think it sank a while back. He was also in the Navy and has a couple books out on Vietnam which include some of his own experiences. I think they include some classified information he was privy to that had to be cleared first before the books could be published. Congrats on the visas! One of my daughters has a masters in nursing, and says it is a great career, but it is good Chrissy has been working out because a lot of hospitals do not have adequate nursing aides to help moving heavy patients and it can take a toll on a back eventually.

At least you already have your son Chrissy...30 years ago when I came here in America it was just me. I got pregnant at once and the next year we had our firstborn. My husband and I have 4 kids. So it was pregnant-baby-pregnant-baby...and then they grew up. But it took me 24 years later before I went back to the Philippines since I came here. I was a stay home mom until the 4h child went to kindergarten. What help me is that I got close to a lot of ladies in our church. They help a lot in not missing the Philippines, plus my husband and 4 kids. I just went for my second vacation to the Philippines this past September and I am really impressed how the Metro Manila has developed a lot. My husband and I plan of retiring in the Philippines someday soon.

surprise when I got married. I was age 34, never married, had been writing this Ceniza lady for 5 plus years. Her
sister in Pa. had petitioned the mom, then mom did the same for Eflida. I go back on a 2 week visit just to meet her.
Boy, 3 days later I was engaged, 4 more and I was married. We are in Vistamar Resort, Mactan Island, Lapu Lapu. We
have a 3k sq ft. home, and split our year here and in Everett, Wash. I hope Calif. works for you both, stay out of the big cities.

I also hope that you will protect them from racist situations she could face. I know how that feels as I lived such situations when when I was serving in the military since I have the normal skin tone of a Hispanic. The first thing I did after i get my green card, i took classes. I wanted to be a nurse. In the States, its easier and you can easily work and study. Also there are grants and so many things to realize ur dream.
Whatever college education u hav in the Pbilippines, u hav to be certified here in the States.
Its the best and life changing move actually. Many Filipinos from States who went home saying its “for good”, and after less than a year, they come bck to the states.
Hospitals are minutes away. Ambulances less than 10 min when u call. In the philippines, u call for ambulance, funeral people come ahead😃.
There is no bribery here. You need service, u dont hav to pay “under the table” to speed up things. And a lot more.
During my Oath taking for my Citizenship, i promise to be a useful American citizen. No other country, not even philippines made me realize my dream. I hope you will feel the same way chrissy. 🙏 i wish you all the best, Tim and Dale. ❤️

But not true because California (after Arkansas) ranks as the second-largest rice-growing state in the United States. The majority of rice is grown in the Sacramento Valley and rice ranks as the 4th largest grown cereal in the USA. In California (2019), more than 498,000 acres of rice were planted on 1,100 farms. Rice production contributes more than $775 million to the state economy.

Just use a normal pot for boiling water in & a stove top... if there's 4" of rice in the pot, add water until it's 4" above the top of the rice... bring to boil...immediately lower temperature to a slow simmer... be sure lid is on the pot the whole time.. walk away and ignore for 15-25 minutes & just let it steam until you cannot see the water layer anymore... done... it's easy. why waste $$ ona rice cooker

Didn't have to watch much to confirm (affirm) that once a filipina gets grounded in the USA, she will never want to come back... permanently that is. Crissy has no idea about "SPACE!" My wife thought she wanted to retire in the PI but after 4 years, realized that the West was Best... she loves her space! And I agree. At least we are close though (Guam).

Chrissy will find a community of Filipinos so easily. My partner came from Dubai to a tiny remote town (pop. around 1200) in the middle of nowhereville in outback Australia & within days she found a bustling Filipino group and has many new friends.
    Filipinos are everywhere!! 😂😂

@Philiprussel. So not true. No where like the United States. Chrissy will do so well there. Most hospitals need nurses and pay VERY well. Millions of Filipinas in the US. She'll want to stay and as a permanent resident she must stay there for a certain amount of time. Her sister will follow. Best for Dale too. Philippine schools are awful.
