There is not even a single election in India's history where Hindutva groups were able to get more than 50% of hindu vote. That means for every Hindu who support Hindu nationalism has an opponent in another fellow hindu who strongly rejects hindu nationalism and endorses secularism. How much extreme polarization BJP creates, they will not get more than 50% of hindu votes. If secular parties can unite 50% or 40% Hindu votes along with minority votes then they can easily defeat BJP. India's case is not at all similar to the case as Pakistan. Minority population in India is much larger than in Pakistan and large section of Hindus still believes in secularism and inclusivity. Caste is the trump card of secular parties to defeat the larger Hindu narrative. Secular parties uses caste communalization to win elections while Hindutva group use religious communalization
