Capris could still be seen on Australian roads well into the 1980s. Cool little cars but rarely seen now except at classic car shows. These flashing ads almost need a warning for epileptics. 😊
I owned 4 Ford Capris, I had a 1971 Ford Capri 1600 XL Automatic which I modded and gave it to my father, who kept for the rest of his life. I also owned a 1970 3000 GT Automatic, and a 1970 3000 GT 4 speed manual Super Roo and an Australian built 1991 Ford Capri Series 2 Automatic Convertible. I like the 3000 GTs best.
Hi Mark, The Capri was know as a Cortina in drag............. Saying that they are a cool car this is a rare car the MK1 Capri, I can't remember the last time I saw a MK3 Capri ( 1978-1986/87 ) there were a few engine choices from a weedy 1300 L but the popular models were 1600 XL, 1600 GT, 2000 XL, 2000 GT, 2000 GT XLR and the 3000 GT, 3000 GT XLR and the RS 3100 these 3000 and 3100 engines were the Essex V6, great video Mark

Only the V6 model had them, but I think the Superoo got stuck onto Escort Twin-cams as well.
@ Yes, just the GT. I didn’t know about the Escort. Don’t think I have seen that? 🤔👍
Actually, my '72 V6 didn't have them, only the stripes, so maybe they were an option?
@ You could delete certain dress up elements like that. Same for Falcon GT. 👍

@@ssadelaidian3811 Yes, I remember seeing one locally into the late 1990’s. Base model in nice condition. Original owner. 👍
love the capri as much as the LC/LJ XU1s.
Both had great styling.
@@ozgarage956 Yes, good looking car and some wild colours. 👍

Really? I’ve never heard that one? I loved the last 1980’s Capris but sadly, we did not receive them here. They were a terrific looking car. 👍
Nice cars, a shame they only sold here for three and a bit years. Lots of them butchered for drag racing so very rare now.
@@judgedread-q4t Yes, very thin on the ground. Check out the Magenta episode on the channel. A GT no less. 👍
Mk1 Sth African Perena fitted with a 302 would have been a good thing.
Yes, very cool. 👍
Yep. 302 Windsor with a little bit of work , rev hard. Probably get 11,12s easy
@ 👍
G'day Mark,
This should of got a V8 in it & go racing at Bathurst instead of the XA.
Opportunity missed.
Cheers
Louis Kats 👍
Like the South African Perana. 👍

Ford made some great small cars back in the day. 😊
