Penelope was so polite taking the frog leg 😂❤
I can't help but laugh at how she grabbed it. Just what EXACTLY is her plan here?!
She looks like a little kid at Midieval Times.
@@rachelkosbar7111 I know! I'm very curious is that snake actually ended up eating the frog legs, and if so, how?
I’m so fucking glad my ball python and blood python aren’t the only ones with 30+ minute sniff durations, I was getting embarrassed whenever the former would wrap a warmed rat, sniff it for an hour and a half at most, and then be confused because it wasn’t warm anymore
yo youve got Blood pythons thats sick. theyre a dream of mine but i cant handle the thickness at the moment
@@leafystreet she was one of my dream species, too!!! She’s a wee bit snippy but she settles into handling pretty well
@@leafystreet the phrasing was really weird but Im assuming you meant you can't accommodate a snake that size?
@@beanie_szyslak425 hey man at least it wasnt "hes too girthy for me"
Hey don't judge Penny! It's like when I use a weighted blanket to sleep. Except the blanket is 5 times her weight, and made of entirely wood.
"for anyone using the metric system thats 25% of an avatar movie" was actually really funny lmao
I know we often call snakes puppies but the way Penelope picked up those frog leggs! Like a lil golden retriever! So cute!
It’s exactly how my six month old german shepherd picks up bones when I give them to her. She refuses to take them out of my hand, she waits until I set it down and then she gently picks it up. It’s so adorable.
I love seeing the gargoyle gecko babies, and I’m enjoying seeing the rest too.
Is it only me or is the tiny tongue of the baby geckos adorable?
its not just you. theyre the reason i get out of bed
@@leafystreet How did it feel getting licked by the gecko? Was it rough or smooth? Did it tickle?
no
your passion and humor makes you 10x more interesting than any other reptile youtuber
he's adorable 🥹🥹
frrrr
@@shelby6you get it
Penelope's reaction would be typical of most snakes that encounter a frog. They usually like to get a leg or near the joint where the muscle of the frog leg joins onto the body of the frog, and them walk it sideways to the tips of the toes of the rear legs, then turn their mouth around whilst holding onto the frog, and then swallowing the frog whole from the rear. They normally do this with live frogs, but if it's dead and appetizing to them, then their instinct most likely tells them to follow the same principles for dealing with a live frog.
They sometimes only get one leg, and not both, and have to work one in and then the other. With a live frog struggling for it's freedom, it can take a snake quite a while to get a firm grip on both legs, and they're doing all of this with two parallel rows of teeth on their upper and lower jaw. Tree snakes have rows of teeth that form a V shape starting with the front rows close together, and the teeth get further apart towards the back of the mouth. They walk their prey down their mouths with absolutely no human tools, no help from anyone, sometimes they don't even have a stout object they can push the prey against. They do all of this with their teeth and flexible mouth.

The babies are growing so big!
I KNOW. I wish their siblings would hatch the eggs are very swollen
"25% of an avatar movie" fucking lost it, man
I asked for a bag of dead birds from Santa and didn’t get it :( I think he must’ve mixed us up
I! LOVE! IT! WHEN! PYTHONS/BOAS! DO! THE! QUICK! WRAP!
Also glad to see the gecks are ok! ❤
Never thought I'd see a man making homemade baby formula out of raspberries and cricket guts for his surrogate gecko step-children but here we are. Good for them.
I really really wish you had time to post more. I adore your animals and I adore you. Thanks for helping an old lady learn to love snakes!
I really appreciate that thank you. When and if I ever get to do this full time, uploads will be much more frequent. its somthing im shooting for this year
@leafystreet I've got my fingers crossed for you!
Watching a snake eat is always fascinating. I had a black racer that i caught out of the ditch as a kid. I would feed it little fish from the ditch and watch it go underwater and chase a fish around was awesome.
The prolonged boa sniffing is so real
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL your reptiles are so cute, also you got such a fun quirky personality lol
i understand the feeling of having to pull the heads off of crickets, i have to crush the heads of mealworms so they can't escape my frog's feeding dish and it is a Journey each time (he's a v skittish rescue so i have to set his food up before he's active cause otherwise the tongs startle him and he might hop out of his terrarium,,)
The most personable reptile content creator I follow! I always get so excited when you post a new vid.
Toes going “nope!” at the flaccid unicorn worm X’D Can’t say it sounds appetising, maybe she agrees? 😂
Aw. When you had to do that to the cricket I would have felt bad too. But you gotta feed the babies! Thank you for your update! 💖💖
I love your voice and your loving kindness to animals that would make most ppl squirm. I think the world needs more people like u
Even apologised to the cricket he killed.
Toes is so cute! Also where did you get you morning geckos?
Snagged them from Josh's frogs. Ill eventually sell some of my little hoard but not quite yet
@@leafystreetI want one when they’re available 😊
Fascinating to see how the snakes wrapped up around the birds they were given, cool stuff
I loved this. Humor included. Lizards got the most heartfelt meal I was very impressed.
Excited to watch this!!! I was a little late but still a great video. Didn't even know you could buy dead anoles.
1:27
You can see the sheer incomprehendable intelligence hiding behind those eyes
Good strikes on the thawed quails. Good snakes.
yay iv been waiting for another video I love your channel and subscribed!!
I can see why you blew up. Your videos are just plain entertaining. As a small keeper myself, you got great info, but dude I literally LOL when watching (ice cream machine guy 🤣🤣🤣). I subbed don’t stop slaying. (Also id love to see mor PP dwarf boa content, getting one myself)
Youre honestly really funny lmao
Watching the baby geckos introduced to new foods is just like human babies trying new foods for the first time 🥰 They turn away from it thinking they're not gonna like it, and usually end up scarfing it all down once they realize they DO like it 😂
"goodmorning sweetheart" im melting TwT thays so sweeeeeet
When I get hornworms off my tomatoes next summer, I will totally send them to you. I hate the vicious little things that eat my tomatoes and peppers, and would love to see them fed to something.
I love this concept and I hope you're able to mail them.
Please make a short of Penelope with her frog leg. That was my favorite part of the video. So cute!
Loving the “extended sniff” 😂
Penelope likes a weighted blanket which honestly same
3:26 omg I thought it was the same lizard in the water jar 💀
“Alright let’s see what Santa got me, hope it’s not a bag of dead birds… aaww, it is :( “ is hilarious. 1:50
How do the snakes not impale themselves on sharp compound fractures, when constricting prey?
Loved the video and the diy foley work 👍
2:24 got me laughing so hard😂
My beardie loves hornworms. Theyre a very rare treat for him. I did an experiment to see how much those little worms eat... 3 young tomato plants in a week for 1 worm!
I’m so obsessed with how the thumbnail is just a haunting renaissance painting with oogabooga emojis
Thank you for the warning I really appreciate it. I squinted until it was time for the babies to eat 😂.
It's incredible how attached I am to all these lil guys
Scrumptious
The video doesn’t even feel 5 minutes long o would’ve thought it was ten or more if I hadn’t checked 😂❤amazing content never thought I’d be this invested in someone else’s animal’s 😂
You can always count on the boas.
The best creator's never post enough
This is the exact reason why i dont think i could ever have a reptile, but the exact reason why i watch you 💖
I’ve subscribed and liked all your vids
Leafy huge fan of the channel! ❤
I was wondering if you would raise hornworms, anyways awesome video! Love watching your vids, can’t wait to keep my first snake
Bro keep making great vids😊
Love your vid keep up the good work
I appreciate it thank you
Super great video! ❤
Where did you get your frozen anoles? Been wanting to add them to the diets of both my tokay and corn snake, but I can’t find them anywhere online
“for anyone using the metric system that’s 25% of an Avatar movie” 💀💀💀
Keep us updated on the SIG boa. I have one that initially only fed on extra small parboiled pinkies and only recently transitioned to just regular thawed. Does not randomly strike sideways at me yet though.
Yo, they actually make scissors for cutting the tops of quail eggs open. They're relatively cheap and a lot cleaner.
this is my type of content!
He named his gecko ‘Toes’? Lol 😂
lol I had to she's missing a few
2:02 he snacc
I had several Dominican red boa snake lings and I fed them "fence lizards" aka anoles I would catch in my yard. They are so thin and tiny its all they could eat. Now they are 3 years old and beautiful ❤
I never thought i would hear "i sure hope it isnt a bag of dead birds". Wild phrase.
over the first year of keeping my valley garters I performed a few similar experiments with different food items, with mixed results.
*typical diet (every other day as babies, gradually reduced to once a week as they grew and just started skipping meals because they werent hungry yet):* tilapia and chicken hearts, cut into small enough slices to comfortably eat. be VERY careful where you get your fish, some places treat their fish with sodium tripolyphosphate, a preservative that's fine for humans but not so fine for an animal that weighs as much as a small bottle of small aspirin.
*Salmon:* other garters apparently love it but mine ignored it entirely. might as well have been a plate full of orange rocks.
*quail egg:* apparently something they've been seen going for in the wild, but too big for my girls to handle intact, so I cracked open some, hard boiled and sliced some others. See above, didnt even register as food.
*nightcrawlers:* a key part of their wild diet, I was hesitant to offer live due to risk of parasites so I froze and thawed them, then cut them up to the same size as the chicken heart and tilapia. leaked blood and dirt everywhere. Eaten, but begrudingly, they seemed to think it was as gross as I did.
*frog leg:* again too big to handle so I cut the meat from the bones. Not only did they refuse to eat it but they refused to eat the tilapia and chicken heart that was on the same plate until i took the frog meat away. REALLY surprising because you can find pictures of garters powering down frogs entirely too big for them to handle pretty much everywhere.
*sIlversides:* common feeder fish, get the ones from the pet store (san franciso bay brand is the usual vendor) because they share a common name with like a TON of species and some are okay to feed and some arent. LOVED them and then suddenly didnt for seemingly no reason.
*mouse pinkies:* switched to pinkies and chicken heart as their main staple because the tilapia was apparently tainted with a mycobacterial infection and nearly killed one of my girls. 8 months in and she still hasnt recovered fully but is going strong. Be careful with fish. Was initially hesitant to offer because they dont really go for rodents much in the wild and as you can see are crazy picky. they consistently go NUTS and violently grab the pinkie, then sit there frozen with it halfway in their mouths for ten seconds while they try to remember what you're supposed to do to eat a mouse.
Is there anything your garters WILL consistently eat? I'm thinking of getting some someday, and was told they weren't too picky...now I wonder.
@@c5365 they down pinkies like it's their job, or at least they do once they remember how to. One more than one occasion I have offered one of my girls a pinkie after they swallowed their first one, and by the time I reach down and grab another pinkie to offer her sister her second, the first snake has already completely swallowed hers and is looking for more.
Chicken hearts cut to an appropriate size have been a go-to since they were babies as well.
Interesting. Mostly I hear about people having trouble getting their garters to eat pinkies....
@@c5365 same, which is another reason why I was a little worried at first.
I used to feed my red tail almost exclusively with young chickens, cool to see and keep it up if you can.
Welcome to snake buffet
3:29 rest in peace green anole 😔
theres a ton of brown anoles where i live, not many green ones tho :D
I guess it makes sense they wouldn’t eat straight organ meat. The outside of animals smells a lot different and it’s missing that smell entirely.
That's amazing! My house snake won't eat frog sausages, live silkworms, silkworm pupae, slug, or earthworm bits. I wonder if pieces of frog meat might go down well and be useful to entice him to eat FT pinkies. Lucky Me, I have a beautiful Asian Market in my area to try for frog leg meat, and they have killer Ddeokk rice cake and POG juice for me.
I miss having reptiles but where I live we can’t find stuff to keep them
I am from Belgium and there we could find everything we need but we moved to Bulgaria and here we don’t find anything
🐍
Hey man I have a Paraguana Boa coming in next week and I was wondering if you have any tips/guides for keeping them and housing them… I don’t know if you have a vid for that yet but would appreciate it!
as someone who uses the metric system, i can confirm we measure time in the length of avatar movies
Rip chick and anole
when i saw you making the baby gargoyles food and took the tongs out i though you licked XD
Tim and I shop the same lol
All his life my Grey-banded king was fed rats (thawed, never live) and one day we decided to try some frozen chicks.
He could not have been less interested. Literally put a rat next to the chick to see what he'd do and he ate the rat right away and ignored the chick.😂
My Mum was literally standing there like "Are you kidding me!?"
Some animals enjoy variety, some could not give less of a f@#!.
horn worms are cute
Where did my school supplies go? AND WHERE IS MY BOX!?!? I found it! Why the fik is there a gecko IN MY PENCIL BOX?!?!
OK, what people use for measuring time if they don't know what a minute is? Quarters of a day? Night inches? Pints of morning? Time pounds?
I have a bearded dragon and since I got it, I wake up at six in the morning to take care of it😅
BRB, gonna go make some snarshmallows
Hornworms are fun
When he was handling penelope:
"She is only 10g away from being able to breathe..."
I'm sorry... *WHAT?*
That's what I originally heard, but he said "breed"
I know I just thought it was funny
Where did you get the wild dead birds from? id love to mix it up for my boa..
Rodent pro is a good spot for them
Your editing of the hornworms hahahahaha
Chicken hearts are delicious but the rubbery texture can be a turn off for those who aren't used to it
I live in nyc tooo
I accidentally pressed the thumbs down button but no I gave you a thumbs up. Love seeing your reptiles and you also inspired me to get a crested gecko c: I hope to get a snek soon.
3:03 👀
Let the hornworm stab you you’ll find out just how real the horn is

Can you plssssss do a video on how to set up a African house snake
