This fills me with hope, and it’s getting me through the darkest time in my life. Thank you Dave and crew. Much love sent to you and may you all be well
@@yummyfuzzball680 thank you, I appreciate that. Life has brightened some and I am in a better place than I was. This is still one of my favorite songs!
I really don't understand all the hate towards this album, i'm 18 years old and enjoy a band that develops more as it gets older, sure it ain't "The Colour and the Shape", but "Animals" wasn't "The Dark Side of the Moon", "No Code" wasn't "Ten", and "In Utero" wasn't "Nevermind". Point is I think the Foo Fighters are doing an amazing job with their career and I really can't wait to see what they do next. The Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam have never let me down with their music.
You can't compare in utero to nevermind... They are completely different concepts... Anyways, I prefer in utero way more than nevermind, and I know I'm not alone on that opinion
this song...I just can't. It's so perfect. It just seems as if they got it all right. Everything falls into place. It's a beautiful, epic masterpiece. This is stadium rock music at it's best. I love the synth as well. Reminds me a bit of The Killers first album Hot Fuss
This is going to sound ridiculous but the first time and many other times later. When the violins play, I freaking break down in tears. I don't know exactly why but even though it is strange it should come as a huge compliment to how powerful your music can be.
This song helped a lot when my uncle died last October. I don't know why, Andy was a dick and hadn't spoken to my family for ten years. Dave's lyrics just kinda helped me find solace and vent a lot of emotions during my time of grief (for lack of a better term). It helped me compartmentalize my issues so I could get shit done for my mom. Thanks for posting.
Whether this becomes a hit or not doesn't matter, this is my favorite song on the whole album. It just reminds me of seeing something grand, like a big city or vast landscape for the first time. It's unbridled joy that doesn't hold back. Whenever I hear this, I always want to go out and experience life and all it has to offer. I love it.
I love coming here and seeing just how many other people have an incredible taste in good music… this song is moving… You all get it. Love you Foo Fighters, life can be hard sometimes, but it’s a beautiful river that we all must travel. Someday we’ll see the end of it. Grazie Mille Foo Fighters. 🤘🏼❤️
To all the people saying this is a boring album, how can you listen to all of those great songs and stay unimpressed. You should take a listen with an open mind and just think about life. I did it and i can honestly say I cant wait for the rest of the songs. Rock on, Foos!
Yes! For me that's the difference between Rock and Pop - Pop has those catchy melodies that go right into your head the first time you hear them. Rock is just more complex and the more you listen to it, the more you appreciate it
You guys have to realize Dave is getting older. Sorry if you want his older sound. This doesn't feel Commercial or Safe to me. Feels like a mature new perspective for the Foo Fighters, I appreciate an Artist who develops an experiments.
ivee grown up with dave and he always releases music relevant to what im going though in life. and whenever im feeling down i know i can put on a foo fighters song and feel like im not alone
Most influential musiscian of the last 20 years easily! The guy does everything for music, he dedicate his life to this, and sonic highways documental is very important for music, Grohl just want inspire some people, he just want new generations learn some about music history of united states, and maybe inspire some people, i think that is what he want. Kurt be happy about all Dave has done, i know that
I remember when I first heard this song. I bought the album and drove around listening to it in my car. When this song came on I literally cried and smiled the entire time. I was so overwhelmed with emotion and the music is so beautiful. I listen to it when I need a few minutes of pure happiness. Thank you Foo Fighters, thank you Dave Grohl. Your music has helped me get through so much.
I preformed this song at a couple bars and a rally e show with some fellow friends .. Everytime I hear this song I get flashbacks to those moments when the crowd roared and cheered for us while we played ❤️probably the best performance we've done
The beauty of this song touches me deeply. This is one of my favorites along with “On the Mend”. David Bowie provided the soundtrack to the first part of my life: the Foo Fighters; the second. How fitting to see Tony Visconti. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I was a teenager when Nirvana was all the rage. I didn't like Nirvana then and I still don't like Nirvana. I wasn't a fan when Foo Fighters made it big. My personal top 3 songs from this album (the entire album is great but these are the ones i like the sound of most, feel free to share your favourites below): 1• The Feast and The Famine 2• I am a River 3• Something from Nothing
Since my dad's recent passing this song really speaks to me. I am a huge believer that music can speak to us in ways when we can't find the right thoughts or words .
This song signifies bridging a massive hole in my life these last 6 months. I'm out of it now. Such a shame I didn't get to hear it in the flesh at Wembley tonight; it would have been the best closure! Sort your sen soon Dave.
Beautiful... I personally don't think sonic highways is their best álbum but this is definnetly one of the best songs they've ever done. I listened this first when it came out and didn't pay too much atention til I listened again and this time I wasn't in the best mood. And again Dave showed me how the power of music can heal you in the bad times. I almost shed a tear. We really have to be thankful with bands like FF to still be doing songs like this one even if it's not their best album, we should be thankful instead of arguing if they are sellouts or not
This song is so beautiful. The guitar, the vocals, the music, its all so perfect and beautiful. This is the most beautiful song with deep meaning, best song ever!

Have to be honest, before this month I have never really paid attention to the Foo Fighters until one day I was going through Netflix and looking for something to watch and I ran into Documentary of the Foo Fighters and I sat there and watch the whole thing....DAVE I am glad you got out of your stump and made that tape and created the Foo Fighters your a Genius man....you have put out some great music man and I commend you and appreciate what you do for the world to release music that's your gift man Thank you man it was always meant to be YOU to be more than just a Drummer I am really enjoying your whole catalog greatest hits is on my Christmas list
I hadn't heard this in years but have been on a Foo Fighters kick recently and have fallen in love with it all over again. Such a moving song. The reaction to this entire album was ridiculous when it came out but I'm glad that with time it looks like people are appreciating it now for what it was meant to be. There are some really great songs on it.
Blown away by this song. I'm just Imagining this closing an epic concert, everyone singing along. Truly magical. Hopefully I can catch the Foos on their tour sometime next year, favorite band by far.
This song is so great, it recaptures the feeling of discovering and falling in love with music I experienced years ago. A masterpiece this releases every feel good endorphin I have!
Amazing album I'm 53yrs old and love the way their music means so much to me and my 21yrs old son can listen the album and it means everything to him. His Grandma bought him a copy for Christmas and he bought me a copy too. He had heard that the album was a concept album and that he wouldn't like it, because it wasn't like their 'other stuff !' He listened the album as I did on UA-cam and they were right, he doesn't like Sonic Highways, he fucking loves it, as do I ! We both agree that this album is the best album to date, every track is strong enough to be released as a single but collectively it's unbelievable !!!
Dave Grohl is our modern day Mozart. Kurt was great but Dave is exceptional. Think about this, Dave played every instrument on the Foo Fighters first recorded album as well sang the vocals ..... who else has done that? The Foo Fighters sound keeps evolving and I love the creativity, and they still maintain that stadium sound with at least one song that "bounces", those that watched the sonic highways documentary know what I'm talking about. The Foo Fighters are my favorite band (as if you couldn't tell) if you haven't seen them live you need to! I saw them a few years ago in Atlanta and they rocked!
This song's structure reminds me of Hey Jude a little bit. You have the whole song building from the beginning, starting soft and progressively growing, circling back to the part that you think is going to be the key moment of the song ("is that what you really want"/"and anytime you feel the pain", "so let it out and let it in"), and finally building towards the climax and key point of the song by repeating the same line for the final minutes of the song. Massive tune, brilliantly written. Definitely one of the most well constructed FF songs I've heard.
I say this in reply three years after the original comment, but most FF songs are like that. They start off quiet and build to a great crescendo. This is one of the best examples; if you aren't left a blubbering mess by the end, there's something not right. Dave's a genius.
I'll admit, when this album first came out I kind of breezed over it. I've finally decided to give it another listen and wow... have I ever been missing out. This is easily becoming a top Foo Fighters album for me. Especially this track right here.
I like to think of this song as saying about how a river is what is inside, that it is the true you though you hide behind something else and it is saying that for someone you are willing to show the river inside you. I know the song was written about the river and everyone being connected but that is a way I like to listen to the song, either way it's a beautiful song by beautiful musicians
I had a shock when I saw the date this video was released, I stared and stared, and thought, no way was this 6 years ago. Damn. BTW, would love to see this one Live.
Rarely am I moved hearing a song for the first time. Some have grown on me after several listens. This one almost drew me to tears the first time I heard it. Awesome collaborations you guys did on this album. Last of a dying breed that I really really miss today
This song gives me the feeling I had when I used to listen their music 10 years ago. I listened to it all, and it was all new and exciting. This one makes the hair on my arm stand-up, all over again. Thanks DG & Co.
e' quello che vorrei tornare ad essere. questa canzone esprime esattamente tutto ciò che in questo momento mi naviga dentro e non sa straripare. grazie.
Anthony Stuart ...agreed. Best FF song by far, nothing short of simply fuckin brilliant!! Shivers down the spine music, that doesn`t happen that often, but this is there, epic!!
Oh mein Gott!
I didn't really care for this song that much, but my disc finally arrived in the mail and I've been playing it on loop and this is definitely one of the best tracks on the CD.
Best song of their greatest musical experiment...and I say experiment for a reason, cause it is not a valid album to me...Don´t bash me guys...I just want to see foos lock themselves in the studio (wherever) and record it (by whatever method) without hyping the whole world about the way they made it instead of just putting out great music...Iam just more pumped for the documentary than for the actual CD...did I mention I love foos?
13dirty666 I kinda agree man. But after the wembley and analog recording I don´t see any meta they should need to pursue. Let´s just make a good record = 10 - 13 songs that would not feel (in the most part) like a trip from 50s to 90s
noyeahno I think Grohl as already said that will be their next album. This was just some fun that Fooies had and a personal adventure Grohl wanted to experience
I have to be honest, some of the previous songs didn't quite float my boat, but this one. I really like this one, The whole album sounds so experimental, i like that, to many bands get comfortable, you have to test yourself. Growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone, Keep it up Foo Fighters !
Just because he has to the vision to go to all these cities and see what music makes them tick does not make them sell-outs but inivators. I applaude their vision.
every time that I hear this song, feels like my soul is washed and cleaned !!
art evokes emotion without emotion what is art?
+Daiana Ferreira I love this song and this pretty much describes how I feel, awesome comment

+Daiana Ferreira Totally Daiana. This song has an amazing effect on me too.. when that chorus hits it feels like you are walking on water

Massive tune, brilliantly written. Definitely one of the most well constructed FF songs I've heard.
Yea I see what you mean. And it makes sense because Dave is really good friends with Paul McCartney, and obviously was very influenced by the Beatles
I say this in reply three years after the original comment, but most FF songs are like that. They start off quiet and build to a great crescendo. This is one of the best examples; if you aren't left a blubbering mess by the end, there's something not right. Dave's a genius.
This song is pure gold.
Hated this album the first time I heard it! but then it grew on me. Now i think its absolutely genius!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll admit, when this album first came out I kind of breezed over it. I've finally decided to give it another listen and wow... have I ever been missing out. This is easily becoming a top Foo Fighters album for me. Especially this track right here.
one of my favorites from their new album!
There's some melodies that make people cry. This is one of mine. Thanks Dave, God bless you Taylor.
+ProfessionalDad one of the most moving songs I've ever heard. What a band!!
it's still a DAYUMM track for me. classic. timeless. glad I live in this time and witness. DG and our foo's
This album was fantastic. I think some of their best work. Maybe not as hard as some people wanted but I think what we got was still great.
This song gives me the feeling I had when I used to listen their music 10 years ago. I listened to it all, and it was all new and exciting. This one makes the hair on my arm stand-up, all over again. Thanks DG & Co.
This reminds me a lot of February Stars off of The Colour and the Shape. Really love it
i have no words
for this
its perfect
This song is awesome......
Can't wait to hear it at Slane castle in may....
Slow build up and it just grabs you and pulls you in
e' quello che vorrei tornare ad essere. questa canzone esprime esattamente tutto ciò che in questo momento mi naviga dentro e non sa straripare. grazie.
The song that makes sonic highways worth your while

Unpopular opinion: My favorite Foo Fighters Album!
Realmente um álbum muito bom.

If this song doesn't do something for you, your headphones or speakers suck.
Anthony Stuart I agree
Anthony Stuart Bang right Anthony!
Anthony Stuart ...agreed. Best FF song by far, nothing short of simply fuckin brilliant!! Shivers down the spine music, that doesn`t happen that often, but this is there, epic!!
+GalaxyHop You don't say!
+Anthony Stuart Agree.
Oh mein Gott!
I didn't really care for this song that much, but my disc finally arrived in the mail and I've been playing it on loop and this is definitely one of the best tracks on the CD.
Most underrated Foo album..
This would be such a good song for a movie sountrack!
Nicola Coombs i'm just thinking too !!
Exactly what I thought :)
I cannot stop listening to this song and all the other sonic highway songs Foo fighters never disappoint ;-)
Best song of their greatest musical experiment...and I say experiment for a reason, cause it is not a valid album to me...Don´t bash me guys...I just want to see foos lock themselves in the studio (wherever) and record it (by whatever method) without hyping the whole world about the way they made it instead of just putting out great music...Iam just more pumped for the documentary than for the actual CD...did I mention I love foos?
the album to me is a soundtrack to the TV show, but it's still a valid album. It's part of their progression as a band
***** Doesn't take away from the fact that they're very interesting to watch if you want to learn about the history of many genres of music
***** that's because the documentary focuses more on the american music and other artists.
Love this song. It gives me the chills, man... and on the record Subterranean melds beautifuly into I Am A River.
I have to be honest, some of the previous songs didn't quite float my boat, but this one. I really like this one, The whole album sounds so experimental, i like that, to many bands get comfortable, you have to test yourself. Growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone, Keep it up Foo Fighters !
7 mins and 8 seconds of pure goodness. Thank you Foo Fighters!
Just because he has to the vision to go to all these cities and see what music makes them tick does not make them sell-outs but inivators. I applaude their vision.
Nunca vou deixar de ouvir essa música! Maravilhosa!!! Thanks Foo Fighters 🙏❤
Can't wait to see them in concert
Their music will always be the most compatible for my ears and will always aid my life.
