Thank you for the videos! I replaced my 2006 mirror with a salvaged 2013 Lexus is250 mirror and hardwired my dashcam -- all thanks to you! The 2013 mirror is HomeLink 4, so I can now operate my garage door.
8:30 Note: If you are buying salvaged Gentex mirrors from eBay, the last digit of the model number will tell you whether it's HomeLink 3, 4 or 5. For example, ZTVHL3 is HomeLink 3.
Great video! I'm trying to solder the Gentex to the original OEM connector. Do you know the wiring for the OEM mirror? If I understand correctly @4:29, the 5 OEM Wires are: GND(blue) - n/a(green) - n/a(yellow) - ACC(orange) - 12V (Red)
@@TunerwithKids I think you may have seen my unedited comment (my original comment was incorrect I think) I'm understanding now that your diagram is for the harness wires colors in the car, not the mirrors wires I'm re-soldering the mirror's wires, so the colors are different @16:04
Pai K , better to use the PIN number as it goes in order. Maybe plug mirror and match mirror with car colors and then use diagram as reference. Pin 1-GND, Pin4-12V IG, Pin 5-12V constant. Other two are for side dimming mirrors (if equipped).
Could you show where that connector coming out of the headliner connects for the auto-dim mirror? I have a 2008 Lexus IS220D (European model of the IS250) and I wanted to install one of those mirrors, and I suspect it is connected to the circuit board where the dome light is but I could not find much info on it. If you could give me any help there, I'd appreciate it.
This is random, but my car was stollen (I got it back a few days later thankfully) but the guy who stole it broke the rear view mirror. The piece that stays on the windshield that slides into the bottom, he actually broke it all off so now there isn’t the sliding piece on the glass now.. any thoughts on what could be done as a replacement?
easiest way is to clip your old harness and match the wires for power and ground. The 2IS mirror also has extra wires for auto dimming side mirrors but most have the option. The Gentex mirrors may come with different pinout depending on which model and car it was harvested from.
On that original mirror from the IS250, do you know which of those color wires was the negative one? I have a similar mirror and want to test it outside of the car. Thank you.
Check the links in description. Any Gentex mirror should fit, just clip your old plug and wire to the new mirror plug. The IS has extra wires for side mirror dimmer (optional package) that most IS’ don’t have. Main wiring is powers and ground.

16:21 Note: The 2011+ OEM 2IS is now a 10-pin connector instead of 5. Pin #1 12V Ignition (IG), #2 Ground (E), #3 Unused or Reverse, #4 EC+, #5 EC-, #6 12 V Constant (+B), #7-10 Unused.
good to know. I know the 2011 switched to Gentex from the old mirrors.

No. If you look at the 4:25 I posted a factory wiring diagram, there are pin numbers and colors P=purple, B=blue, etc.

I just made my mirror work thanks to you and Binh’s comments. Thank you 👍

Probably take it to a window shop, they should have that piece since it’s universal and the right glue to hold.
I’m curious to know if you have a degree in the electric engineering field. All your explanations help a lot!
Yes I have a BSEE.
I’m a year away from graduating with mine! Also, where can I find all these wiring diagrams? I have an 08 is250
For the life of me I can't figure out how to get that black trim piece off that covers the wires up, any suggestions ...
Slide the neck down? There’s two tabs that tuck to headliner.
@@TunerwithKids so do I need to squeeze it at the top while pulling down, that thing won't budge
Maybe someone glued it during a windshield replacement?
What did you connect the wires too? You didn’t show

Will '12 mirror fit '06? I don't know wiring, so $40 nissan mirror isn't an option for me...
Tyler Durden yea 2012 plug is same (I think) but the mirror is a Gentex like this.

I have a 2008 is 250. Do you know if it will be easy to change myself. Do you know a cheap mirror?

Ok... thank you I don’t think my IS has the dimmer package. So I will try to order a mirror and put it on.
@@vino6018 , make sure new mirror comes with wiring pigtail. That’s important.
Where i can order for my lexus gs300 2006?
It should be same as IS. Just order a Gentex with harness like mine.
Get him some water! He can’t stop coughing
