My friends bought the Porsche 911 4S while i bought the LC500, so I had the chance to explore both cars. I was never a lexus car guy, however my lexus love started when i bought the GS450H from 2014 and it still is the world best sedan in the world. The 911 is a fast brutal fun car, however men over 30 years old would get murdered by the discomfort of the 911 in comparisson to lc500. The 911 is an half hour car. The best half hour car, while the LC500 is pure, elegant, sopfisticated, and the sound man, when you hitt the rev limiter, you will forget about the 911 in a heartbeat. Top of all I can use it all the time. I am not worried about anything even if I hitt the rev limiter because the best engineers with moral have built it for me. Nothing is more gentlemans sportscar than the LC500.

I am 61 and can drive my 2023 911 Carrera hours at a time. LC500 maybe a comfortable highway cruiser but it is not a road performer like the 911. If you seek plush interstate ride, you should get a large comfortable sedan.. Not a wanna be sport car..

Nice to see an engineer's side by side. Personally, I cannot get behind the argument of the LC 500 not having a special interior. It's dated when it comes to tech, but I think the design is absolutely stunning and way more special than the 911. And that's what I think in general makes me desire the LC: it's special. I live close to a rich neighbourhood. Everyone has a 911 there. I see one nearly everyday. They're a common sight. Cool, but not special. The Lexus is a rare sight. Like an actual super car. I also think the design on it will age better than you think. It's lightly aggressive, but it's not an amorphous blob like so many modern cars. Then there's the fact that the Lexus is more comfortable. It says screw the horsepower race, we're going for confidence and comfort, like a GT car should. I'm gonna be saving up for the Lexus for sure.

Hello...interesting video. I have been a 15 year Porsche owner (Cayman and 911) and my wife drove a Cayenne for many years. We left Porsche recently because the global (de-globalizing) situation is going to impact Porsche significantly and Porsche makes nothing in the US. From a driver's perspective, your comments on NVH and handling are spot on. At 3/10's on an interstate, the 911 become exhausting due to significant road noise in the cabin. That being said, I took my 911 to track days and it was huge fun and that is something the LC cannot do. I am now an LC500 owner and I enjoy the on-road driving experience immensely with an equivalent sense of occasion and more comfort when compared to the (991) 911. We'll see how the value proposition works out because I keep cars many years. The normally aspirated V8 will soon be a thing of the past and I think the LC will age well for that reason alone.

Today’s Porsche are beautiful and dealerships maintenance and I laugh at my friends who complain about the cost. Been there done that and I’m quite happy with my LC500 with its style ,reliability and gawking eyes 👀 staring giving a 👍. I own both a Porsche 911 Turbo and a Lexus SC430. I test drived a LC500 and I would agree, the high-tech digital screen on the LC500 might look good now, but in 5 to 10 years the interior controls will look dated. Also, im not a big fan of the LC500's steering wheel in all leather. I truly believe the steering wheel in my SC430 is made of wood, it has a more regal and classic look and feel. A leather steering wheel is so "90s" and the leather on the steering wheel eventually fades or gets hard. The LC500 should had used woods and metal and less glitter. Give me a beautiful analog design and display with wood trim as they did with SC430, and the LC500 could had been a classic.
As for driving the LC500, I didn't feel one with the road as I do with the Porsche. Also my visibility was far superior in my Porsche than the LC500.

Plus in my opinion, the interior is off the charts beautiful….there is hardly a surface that isn’t covered in leather. The 911 interior has always lost me …to basic and the windshield is in your face like the Beetle. I also believe that long term the LC will be highly sought after because of the V8 rwd in such a beautiful design and again, reliability. But of course that’s just my conclusion. I will not own a German car again…3 times was enough for me😉

The 911 beat the reliability scoring of toyota from 2014, 2016 and 2018 to 2022.. The build quality is unmatched as he says. The windishield its literally at the same distance as the Lexus... You are complaining about a sportcars interior made for DRIVERS with Lemans heritage.. Dont forget that the Lexus is now recalled for coolant valley leaks and paint fading... They have TSBs for that.

As far as reliability and dependability, fit and finish, craftsmanship, looks & style, and finally quality control. I have to give it to the LC 500. In addition, I think the LC 500 in my opinion is much cheaper and you get much more for the dollar overall they only make like a couple thousand yeah I think Lexus sold not even 1900 of them last year where Porsche makes tens of thousands of the 911‘s and I feel that they are ridiculously priced, I personally like the Porsche turbo S but without options they’re a little over 200,000 and a nicely option. One is about 250 to 275,000 David this video was FANTASTIC, the quality of information that you give is top notch like the way the Takumi craftsman build the LC 500 the best of the best of the best I can’t wait for the day when you hit 1 million subscribers and I think by the time you hit the ceiling you’ll be up with SCOTTY KILMER with over 5 million subscribers that’s what I think and I know it will happen… You just have a wealth of quality information to share with people and they are going to remember that by purchasing the vehicles you recommend and they’re going to have that feeling for the rest of their lives that’s a beautiful thing I think

Also, when looking at the clear coat of a Lexus using a paint gauge, the clear coat on all panels are very consistent. I don't know if TMC still "wet sands" each Lexus built there. However, the Lexus design will not age as gracefully as the Porsche 992. Timeless. Which will definitely impact the resale value. Thnx.

Thank you for the review. I've been an owner of the LC500 now for four years and have some very strong feelings for it. They are special cars. Special enough that when I ponder parting with mine, I go for a drive and instant recall just how comfortable and wonderful of a car it is. As others (and you) have mentioned, I view 911's a bit more on the sports car side of the house, where as the LC500 is by far the GT. Although, many have been surprised after some "spirited" group drives. I drive my LC to and from Carweek every year (2600 miles) and it's one of the first cars (out of the 100+ I've owned), that I literally could drive all day and not get fatigued. I can also confirm highway trips seeing 30-33 mpg's out of this fabulous 471hp V8 is not unheard of. My LC garners more compliments than my Ferrari F430. I'm a fan of Porsche, but overall, I feel this is a better car all around and most certainly not as common as 911s. It just checks more boxes and is certainly worth the $25k-35K LESS than a base 911 these days. 👍

My wife drives a 2013 Lexus RX450h and the quality, comfort, and reliability of that car is amazing. I would imagine the LC 500 would be even better. I never considered a Lexus when I was sports car shopping, and was all-in for a 911. No regrets. On a twisty back road the 911 is just amazing-just so agile and fun. The ride is a little bumpy though, and the wind/tire noise is really pretty bad at highway speeds. As an aside, I really prefer Lexus dealerships to my local Porsche dealership. I went in for some routine maintenance a few months ago and they tried to get me to pay 9,000 dollars for a 6 year service. Only 18k miles on the car. That drove me away to a great independent Porsche repair shop with great results and satisfaction. I can't see a Lexus dealership doing something like that. It might be that the LC500 would be a better fit for my wife and I for road trips than the 911, but the handling of the 911 and the iconic design has made it a keeper for us.

The porsche was very nice except for the maintenance cost and frequent expensive tire replacement , i almost got another one but changed my mind and despite my wife's objections about a lexus I bought a 2024 lc 500 cabriolet and that was the best decision I made and you will understand the minute you get in one and drive , oh and now my wife is the one that drives it almost all the time .

I looked to replace it but with the car market as it is couldn’t find the one I was wanting. I’m a practical guy I love to have nice things so that’s why I drive a Lexus SUV as my daily driver but as you said sports car I would go with Porsche with anything else Lexus.

I waited 3 months for the car I ordered only to discover that I couldn’t get the seat back far enough. The electric seats prohibit reclining to a comfortable position forcing your body more forward and upright. The salesman had no idea about the limited seating position for taller people. It killed my dream car purchase. 😢

LC 500 and the Porsche 911 Carrera S are two different vehicles designed with different focus. The one you choose comes down to subjective criteria. Or it comes down to the fact you just cannot afford either vehicle.

I do love the road feel on my 911 C4 (the ride quality is due to the tires, you really need to use the Michelin tires that they recommend for each model), I enjoy my Pilot Sport A/S4's and that's after nearly 200,000 miles that i have put on my 911 C4 in the past 22 years, so YES it is WORTH IT, IT DOES HOLD ITS VALUE, and EVEN NOW, 22 years later ITS STILL A FANTASTIC AND DAILY USEABLE VEHICLE, The winner must be the 911. P.S. NOTHING STOCK BEATS A 2022, 2023 or 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S (The end).

Having owned several 911’s, all air cooled, including a 930 (Turbo..!) can say they are magnificent cars: Durable, eye catching, and super fun on country roads or trips to the grocery store.
I’ve driven an LC, and currently own to SUV’s, a 2003 LX470, and a 2022 GX460 (luxury), and can say that overall they are the finest built, and most reliable cars I’ve ever owned.
IMO, the LC offers more for less than the 911’s, and in terms of fit and finish are magnificent.
Yet the Porsches offer what no other high performance sports cars offer at its price point.
Superlative overall performance with unparalleled, in its automotive category, reliability.
Were I in the market for a six figure car, I would have to have one (at least!) of each…
ps: excellent, thoughtful content; much appreciated…

Such a logical presentation, with much appreciated information about manufacture, and refreshingly absent the standard intro..."THIS is the." I have always wanted a 911, but Lexus is a relative newcomer (relative to my lifespan). I agree with everything stated in this segment which is rare. I agree that the LC500 design, though stunning, might be too baroque and daring to age comfortably--unlike the LFA that looks like its conservative inspiration. The 911 is based on the traditional concept, but it looks unappetizingly huge in this video--maybe due to the color or the enormous rear window but maybe it's because it really has grown and grown and grown. If I could afford either (and I can afford neither) I think I would forego the purchase. Instead I would hope to find a much older and smaller 911 despite knowing the older car's faults. That's because I know I would not be able to find an old LFA for anything close to these prices even though I think it is very desirable.

It’s a good review, but an odd comparison. The Porsche is a sports car and the LC a GT albeit a sporty GT and therefore people buy them for different reasons. I’ve driven an LC as a daily driver for 4 years and I bought it because of its futuristic design (a work of art), it’s reliability, low maintenance cost, luxury and comfort, and the fact I can cruise 500 miles in comfort on a tank of gas averaging 29-30 mpg. Yes, most reviewers dislike the infotainment system, but owners quickly move to managing things with voice commands. Some reviewers and performance tests compare the LC to the Aston Martin DB-11 where by AMCI performance standards it compares very well if not better…and at half the cost. What really hooks owners, though, is the muscle car-like sound of the induction and exhaust noise which make for an emotional experience. BTW, a point of fact. There is no such thing as a $130k LC in the USA. As for styling, I will admit to a prejudice against the Porsche. At the risk of inciting Porsche owners, the design is indeed iconic, but maybe it’s because every Porsche has been a variation of Ferdinand Porsche’s original design of the Volkswagen from the 1930’s. Just can’t get that out of my head, but the rest is quite special. So if you’re looking for a daily driver in this price range and you don’t care about car badges or performance you’ll never use, the LC is a great choice.

  • @gpearce11
    @gpearce11 3 місяці тому

Very informative breakdown. Comparing their comfort and performance does go a long to showing how the 911 is very much a pure sports car while the LC500 is definitely leaning a little mire towards GT car, so its not quite the 1:1 comparison something like the R8 or AMG GT is to the 911. Definitely close enough to warrant comparing, though.
I do have a couple of points regarding value/resale, specifically when it comes to options. One of the things I love about Lexus is they tend to spec a car as good as possible, then just give it to you. The European manufacturers (including Porsche) tend to take a different approach; once they've specced the car, they see how much of it they think you'll be willing to pay extra for, then make those things options.
This has two outcomes. Firstly, it means that while they might start out similarly priced, the 911 can get noticably more expensive very quickly. Secondly, the lack of options, combined with much lower resale, means the LC500 definitely seems like a winner 2nd-hand, because you pretty much only need to find one in a colour you like and it's exactly how you would've specced a new one.

Having driven both back to back and personally owning two Porsches (718 Spyder and 18’ 911 4S). The handling on the LC 500 is not in the same league as the Porsche. Which is totally fine as it’s more of a touring car and would be great for long road trips for ride comfort and NVH whereas the ride in the 911 is just tolerable on long road trips. Forget about taking calls or having conversations with people in the 718 Spyder, it’s that ridiculously bad. The NA V8 in the LC is a standout which alone makes it a worthwhile purchase. The howl of the flat 6 twin turbo is unmistakably 911, also fantastic. While I love Porsche, I do frequently contemplate owning an LC just for the experience 👀.

You want to go auto-crossing, do track days and drive a car that translate the road feel to your hands, feet and ass - there's a clear choice. If you want to be comfortable and not deal with the side effect of performance equipment (brake chatter, road noise, stiff ride) in a sporty looking car - there's a clear choice.
