I remember when the $4K C2, with 460 ft-lb at 3000 lbs was criticized for being waaaaaay to heavy to called a sports car. The E-Type had just debuted a whopping 400 lbs overweight compared to the 1900lb D-Type. The C8 is a luxury cruiser, it is DOUBLE the weight of a sports car.
@@FFE-js2zp In the context of 2021, the C8's weight is pretty respectable and it's about 1000lbs less than that Lexus. Even the new sports car from Lotus - the Emira, is over 3000lbs, which should tell you how big cars have gotten.
@@georgimihalkov4781 The Emira will be 200 lbs less with the AMG engine, plus more HP and torque than the Camry Engine. 2900 pounds at 420 HP is at least respectable to accel, turn, and brake. Its not that the C8's 3900 lbs w/driver is bad, its just not a sports car any more. If the Z06 or Zora adds 500lbs of electric motors and batteries, its more of a UPS truck. It makes zero sense as a replacement for the ideally balanced 50/50, 3250 lb C7.
@@georgimihalkov4781 The appearance of the truly exotic Emira, a $60,000 racecar with better torque to weight, is another major problem for the C8. An Emira laps a C8 on the first lap.
The lexus is a luxury gt. Its not built for precision and chasing lap times. The corvette however is more of that so basically you cannot compare them. My opinion
@@pan4632 It is a sport GT I guess, because even though there'd be sportier model coming, the chassis in the base model C8 is already tuned to accommodate the sportier version, while the Lexus is purely a GT
As many others have said, you're comparing a dedicated sports car to a luxury GT car. You're taking points off the LC500 for not being something it isn't trying to be. Normally I have nothing to complain about in your videos, but this one has that one BIG complaint over it. It's the equivalent of comparing the C8 to an STI on gravel and loose roads, then bashing the C8 for not doing it well even though it wasn't built for that.
We hear you. But we hope you noticed that we acknowledged that Lexus didn’t make LC into a Sports car. And that’s a missed opportunity. Meanwhile, the C8 can be every bit the GT that the Lexus is. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
@@EverydayDriver I wasn't expecting a reply from you guys, but I really appreciate it! I did catch that point, but I still do think it's a bit unfair to judge the LC500 as a sports car just because it's the closest Lexus has got to one. Hopefully Lexus releases an LCF that you guys could do another comparison to. Still love your guys videos as always though.
@@EverydayDriver I disagree. Lexus didn't miss an opportunity. They wanted to build an ultra-reliable, comfortable, great-sounding, breathtakingly gorgeous GT cruiser. And they succeeded spectacularly. And I'm a guy who LOVES Corvettes. 2 completely different categories of cars being compared here.
@@EverydayDriver It is NOT a missed opportunity that Lexus did what Lexus does. That's the point!!! Understand the golf comparison, but everything else is apples and oranges. Buy the C8 if you're into track numbers, buy the Lexus for driving on real roads.
Two very different animals for very different missions in life The Lexus LC is here for 3 reasons: To look amazing, to sound amazing and to feel amazing The Vette is here to handle everything else
dude what? the vette's looks are on par at least and it sounds amazing. much louder and visceral than the lex. The lex got a more luxurious feeling while the vette is a sportscar, that's that
@@sgtsimplycrispy7749 It's a place called Cascade Springs. You can get to it through American Fork Canyon, Provo Canyon through the Alpine Loop, or you can go through Park City/Heber/Midway. They repaved the road as well as extended what used to be a dirt section through to Midway. It's really nice but its hard to drive safely and spirited with how many people are driving as slow as possible. I probably shouldn't be sharing one of my favorite places but oh well.
7:14-7:30…I couldn’t disagree more. There is a huge segment of drivers that can afford the Lexus that likely disagrees with your sentiment here. In fact, the driver that buys this Lexus, is who Lexus IS building this car for…refined, comfortable, easy, yet powerful when you get into it…done perfectly.
My issue is that they could have or should have (and maybe will in coming years) increased power and performance for the LC500. I would expect for what you pay, that Lexus would put forth a better effort to compete with it's intended competition (BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.).
I agree a 100%, I own a LC500 and the interior of similar priced vehicles don't even come close. I have been in the new Corvette and was instantly turned off by the quality of the interior.
I agree with u but, The LC is luxury brand ....This is a first generation c8 ...as time move on,GM will redesign it in the near future.....I don’t like the rear headlights and AC manual things
No it doesnt, simply by the fact that too many things are managed by the worst infotainment in the business. Not to mention the shrek ears above the gauges.
Yea, the Lexus is like an Armani suit and the corvette like jersey. I cringed when they said the interior materials are not better than corvette. The difference in quality and the way everything is put together is night and day. Super biased review.
You guys started by stating "Cars for Golf" but none of your list points describing that. Steering feel, hugging the corner, ... So, I think this whole review is just bs
This whole video must have been a Chevy paid ad for Corvette. The LC is amazing, a way better car than the Vette. Sure the Vette wins on the track, but the LC wins on the road with real world day-to-day driving.
We hope you've had the chance drive both. And no car manufacturer pays any journalist as far as we know. We've certainly never gotten paid by any car maker. Thanks for watching.
the c8 and the z06 are supercars. You can't say that about the lexus. Its a luxury cruiser. What would you rather own a super car or a nice luxury car?
comparing 2 very different cars using metrics that benefits one over another is bound to be a failure in objective comparison. Lexus is a better car for the golf crowd because those folks aren't tracking their cars. The lexus is a much better looking car... yes it's my opinion. (an opinion like this entire video comparison) The lexus is better looking car, better built quality, more solid frame, more reliable, better sounding, more comfortable... so yeah, if I'm getting a car in this class I don't need a car that's worse in every other way but better at landing me a speeding ticket. Now if I want a good handling car, I'll get a porsche. If I want a good 0-60 straight line car, I 'll get a tesla. If I want a comfortable cruiser that's balanced and great in every respect that's important... is there another car under 150k that's better than the LC500?
Tesla is another manufacturer that produces some of the least reliable vehicles in the US. It ranks second to last with Lincoln being in last place. The top three according to Consumer Reports are: 1. Lexus 2. Mazda 3. Toyota
Most C8 owners, as with most sportscar owners, aren't tracking their car or remotely competent with any level of high performance driving, let alone have their HPDE4. To be clear, the overwhelming majority of C8 owners will step on the gas in a straight line on the highway, goose it from a redlight, and maybe push 30-40mph on a turn if they are feeling gutsy. They have no idea how to countersteer or control the car with traction control off. My point is this- most sportscar owners live under the delusion that they can control or handle the car when they in fact can't. They'd be better off in something with a good bit of power that rides much better and has superior build quality and materials, but again, that doesn't fit their delusion so they act like they're enjoying themselves getting slammed in the ass by every bump and wet cigarette butt on the road while staring at a cheap chinese GM interior and praying that their transmission doesn't explode.
Honestly this is a horrendous review in many respects. The video shots, scenery and roads are amazing though. I have driven the LC500 at length and pushed very hard and it is an extremely capable road car - not track car obviously. The engine and transmission are perfectly matched; the exhaust sound/induction noise is heavenly and the car provides a really fun driving experience. Please watch reviews by Matt Farah and Savageese to get accurate take on how awesome the LC500 is. The C8 is a great value for what it is but the engine is uninspiring, the DCT is OK, and the while the platform is more capable than the LC500 as its mid engined and weighs less - its not as direct/precise at the limits compared to pure sports cars like a 911.
I don’t think I would own a C8 right now. But the platform has a lot of potential and I really can’t wait to see what the Z06 is like. I may grab that if it’s more focused than the stingray.
In this spec, we wouldn't claim the C8 is a track car any more than the LC500. The 911 would be better than both of these at the limit - we completely agree. As this was a road test with a half joking element about their golfing potential, we're sorry it didn't connect for you. Thanks for watching.
@@lancesingleton3700 I was hoping for a car that was slightly more focused on being a sports car and less on being a GT. But I’m content to wait to see future variants. I’m hoping the Z06 will be the one I want.
Appreciate the review. The car is beautiful. As for the trackpad, no ADULT who owns an LC 500 uses the trackpad very much. ADULTS read the OWNER'S MANUAL and learn about VOICE COMMAND. Then, the first thing they do is run MENU/SETUP and select all their default personal preferences which takes care of 95% of EVERYTHING. Using VOICE COMMAND, they simply press a button on the left side of the steering wheel, wait for the BEEP and then TELL THE CAR WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. No trackpad involved! For instance: "press button, say "radio", say "AM 760" and the radio goes to that station. Or, press button, "say FIND, say PIZZAHUT and you get several choices, say the CHOICE NUMBER" and your GPS will guide you there. So, maybe in the future this reviewer will take 30 minutes and become familiar with the Owner's Manual so he doesn't relay false information to his audience? These are the best cars produced today but...isn't it nice to have a choice??? But, to the point of your video comparing the two cars...you can't. The Corvette is an Exotic Lamborghini Wannabe and the Lexus is a GT. The Corvette, inside and outside, is busy, busy, busy. Those people who love scoops, buttons, wings, spoilers, carbon fiber, neurotic body styling and sheer speed get to choose the C8. Those people who just want a very reliable, classy, beautiful car can select the LC. There is no wrong or right, better or worse. Chevrolet absolutely produced a car for a certain type of person and that's a good thing. The quality is superb. But, it's really not "Corvette-ish", is it? It is a great car, but you'd never know it was a Corvette if all the badging was gone and nobody told you what it was. You would think the Italians made it...100%. I've had my 1969 427/435 L-71 Corvette since 1970. It's A CORVETTE and there is no question about it. Anyone who sees it knows what it is. I've also got a 2018 LC 500, a completely different kind of car and I love it. They are both cars but totally different. I don't spend time comparing or thinking about the differences. Enjoying both for what they are is the best way to spend my time. As for ever buying a C8...probably not. I'm almost at the point in my life where driving will be a thing of the past. However, if I were younger, the C8 would be on the list but if had to choose only one, it would be the Lexus LC 500.
Exactly. Like also like anyone who buys a Lexus could not care less about being 3 seconds faster than someone else, especially if the interior of that 3 second faster car feels like plastic and creaks. It blows my mind when I have friends who seriously will scoff at my Lexus but then love my old interior that is almost 2 decades old and feels better than their more expensive car. Or the fact that it lasts that long. When I was talking to people about how nice my grandmas new Lexus was and how I’d like to have a new one one day they scoffed at that idea and asked why I didn’t want something different. Maybe it’s just class and better tastes. Where they’d trade off a perfect interior for dumb numbers on a graph that they will never use. I will even have people I know buy a brand new hundai luxury plus what ever and then I get in it and internally feel odd because it feels like crap. Where the 4 year old Lexus es that cost 5k less like my grandmas will gap their car and feel better while doing so. Let alone last longer.
I do not know, but I have not noticed this two “geniuses” to drive “sports cars”…. Have you noticed, they both drive like old farts, sorry - old ladies!!! Any of those two cars can be driven 2-3times faster on that beautiful twisty road with an otstanding visibility to the curves and with outstanding quality of the asfalt of the road…. But both of them woud not stop yapping about how this is lighter or weights too much…. Guys, have you ever been to even minor car accident? You certainly haven’t! You would know the weight MATTERS A LOT! And please, try to imagine, what would be left of any of you and that “fiberglass/carbon” body Vette, if you just accidentaly graze just normal car made of metal…. Just imagine - you both live in the country of “feather weight SUVs” - so just try to imagine a very light encounter of any of these two cars with whatever SUV… Where would you rather be seated? In Lexus or in light Vette with the engine behind your back???? How would THAT have finisher? Where and how would you end up??? Thank for your consideration….
I see a highly refined Grand Touring Car being compared to the mid-engine sports car. There should never be a comparison between the two, you may as well compare a sedan DeVille to a Fiat Spider
@@DrSteveJ-gd3gn Uh, the only people I see driving a C8 are gentleman that have gone way past their midlife, one of them being our production manager who's nearly 70
1) So, where was the golf clubs demo? A bit silly to not show how each could accommodate a bag after you made such a big deal about it. 2) The corvette does not look like a corvette. 3) It’s true. At a golf course I parked next to some guys standing around a Z BMW sports car in my Mercedes SLK and pulled out my clubs from the boot. The SLK has two sculpted cutouts just for this purpose. The owner of the BMW said he was immediately getting an SLK.
I'd be curious about how well the Corvette interior holds up over the years. The leather seats in older Corvettes I've looked at were pretty well worn out.
The thing is, most people buy a sports car and barely utilize its capability. They act like it matters, they talk like it matters, they shop for cars as if it matters, but then they buy the car and they drive to work and back (or golf and back) on nice days and the most sporty they get is when they floor it at a light or they rev it a bit. The Lexus can do that just fine. The Lexus is sporty enough to be fun for what 95% of people will actually do. If you ignore the aspects of sportiness that 95% of people will barely ever notice or care about (except when they're originally shopping for the car) then what matters is everything else. That's where the Lexus is just an amazing car. It's stunning, and its special. The Corvette is a better sports car, but it's not especially cool or special and if anything it's going to be less cool and less special over time as the novelty of a mid engine corvette wears off. The LC500 is a future classic with (I suspect) very low production numbers but relatively amazing reliability.
What matters are ride and functionality. The MRC on the C8 is superior in both. Speaking of functionality have you ever tried to use the Lexus infotainment and UI system? It's hands down the worst in the industry and routing commonly used functions through it is a frustrating experience. As for "cool and special", how many songs are written about Corvettes or mention them? How many pop culture phrases? Now how many for Lexus? The truth is there is only one cool and special Lexus and you can't get it unless you are willing to shell out nearly 7 figures for it. The C8 however is attainable and yet highly sought after and like all Corvettes will have a special place in the market.
As mentioned in the description, this came out last year on TV and has been on Amazon Prime since. We are in the process of catching up on back episodes to get our UA-cam releases here faster. Thanks for watching!

For everyday driving the Lexus LC500 my choice. I just want to be seen in it it’s beautiful and the hear the engine. The vette I wouldn’t want to drive it daily.
Well the Lexus is a much more refined vehicle but then again it cost about $15-$20,000 more. I don’t think these are two cars that should be compared though. I am a Lexus guy. I own a Lexus and I love the LC 500 convertible. But I think we’re comparing apples to peaches here… I bought the C8 for the same reason both reviewer‘s picked it. It’s a true sports car with more power, road feel, incredible acceleration, and if you haven’t checked one out the quality of the interior is amazing. No it’s not a Lexus but then again few cars are.
"In this episode, we find another way to expense driving a C8 through the mountains all weekend." I've never put golf clubs in my C6, but it fits 6' cedar planks quite nicely.
What would you rather, a 2012 LFA or a 2012 Corvette? A mid 90s Supra or a mid 90s corvette? Corvettes are cool in the present because they are cheap. But in a few years you end up with is a cheap car when the newness wears off. The LC500 is something special.
This is honestly one of the weirdest comparisons I've ever seen.. The Lexus is a luxury GT cruiser, while the Chevy is a mid-engined sports car that happens to be a convertible. This whole review had nothing to do with 'golf-minded convertibles' nor was it objective at all. As someone who likes to golf and go to the track, a better comparison for a 'golf-minded convertible' would be the 8 series convertible or AMG GTC. I would personally never cross shop the C8 with the LC500 in the first place. I don't know about you, but the LC500 interior quality blows away the C8's interior, there's just no contest.
@@krane15 both convertibles, yes, both sportscars- absolutely not. The LC500 is a luxury GT. It doesn't have a stiff suspension, it's heavy as hell, it's not a track car, and it's average speed for a luxury GT. It's made for comfort and cruising, not hard turns and heavy acceleration. Most people/non-die hards would not want to daily drive the C8- the suspension is just too stiff (sportsmode off is barely noticeable with the dampers), whereas the LC500 rides quite smoothly. That said, Lexus infotainment sucks until they release Lexus Interface and the C8 has a low quality interior with poor button layout and shifter design (also has drivetrain issues). If price wasn't an issue and it comes down to having just one car, the majority would definitely prefer driving the LC500 after having spent significant time in both.
I'm convinced that the Corvette will become a car I will buy in a couple years. For now, I will enjoy my LC convertible, a perfectly beautiful and competent GT. It is a car I am planning to keep......along with my 66 U13 Bronco Roadster which can carry a half dozen golf bags with ease : )
Hi. Golf and car enthusiast here. Part of the fun of a golf day or weekend is driving great roads on the way to the course with the sun and a smile on your face. Just got back from a trip where multiple convertibles were driven, all with golf bags in the trunk.
I love both cars but I'm a little confused. I thought this video is a comparison to see which one is the better Golf car so with that I would expect the comparison to be based on where and how a typical golfer would drive it, not on a windy open road to it's limits. Oh yeah, I would also expect to see how each car would actually carry a set of golf clubs. Instead, all you talked about is how well each one behaves when pushed through the corners on a beautiful windy flowy stretch of open road and not a single golf bag in sight.
If it was my money, I would not bother even testing that C8. I'd just show up at a Lexus dealership with my golf clubs. And comparing sports cars to GT cars and complaining about handling differences and weight is stupid. My two cents...
This is a no brainer. The Lexus is one of the most beautiful cars available today…at ANY price. The Corvette looks pretty good. My biggest decision would be LC500 in coupe or in convertible form. I have no idea how I would decide…
Thank you gentlemen. THIS is the video that changed my mind and made caused me to change my C8 order to the HTC. The convertible is fantastic. Z51, mag ride, 2Lt. A very good car, in my opinion. Thanks!
I drove my buddy's c8.fast and great handling but boring. Guys at work think I'm crazy but after driving for an hour it just did not make me want it. I liked driving his zl1 Camaro way more.
I've tracked both, and own the C8 and the Cadillac ATS-V which shares the same Alpha chassis at the Camaro. The thing about them is this. It's very easy to get addicted by the ZL1's raw power output as it seems to always be there and ready with absolute unsafe levels of torque. The Alpha chassis itself is probably one of if not the best for a sedan or coupe in the last decade. You feel what the car is doing, it rides exceptionally well across all variants. and on a roll the ATS-V is nearly dead even up to 90 where the C8 starts to pull away. The C8 however on the track is just a different level. From a standstill it's hard to beat with a proper launch. It really changes personality between modes, there is no emulation that doesn't make a difference like with some cars when you switch them from touring to sport. I can see how the C8 might seem a little boring or vague in tour mode but sport or track mode is such a wide difference and anything but boring in my opinion. but honestly, driving the ZL1 or C8 could you really go wrong in preferring one over the other?

@@wongchai807 Hey, open your mind and go sit in a C8? Lexus is a luxury brand who has failed repeatedly when they've tried to produce a car that performs as well as a 911, or Corvette for that matter. Any C7, although probably not built as well as an LFA, would run rings around it in any performance test. Although these two vehicles, are far from being in the same class. Lexus builds great cars. Lexus, does not build great sports cars!
We picked up our 2023 C8 HTC non Z51 magnetic ride, front lift, performance exhaust, front splitter, low profile spoiler, and lots of carbon flash painted highlights with the Arctic White paint. These are 2 cars I will buy used in like 2-3 years. Both amazing. One gives you a super car look and the other gives you a fancy GT look. One is more like a budget Hurracan and the other a budget Aston Martin The prices seem off though. Chevy website says the convertible starts at 90 so with 18,000 in options that would put this car at 108k compared to the Lexus 111k What’s up with the price?
I have to agree with most of the comments below or above, however this shows up, These are two completely different experiences; having just purchased a 2020 LC 500 I can tell you I would never compare this car to a Corvette or any Corvette that claims to be a GT car, they simply are not chasing the same end game IMHO. And for what it's worth I can actually fit my entire golf bag in the trunk of my LC, if I take my driver out 1st!
I tend to agree, the two are from different classes. Lexus should be compared with a similarly priced six-series convertible. But in all cases let's be honest you should test the Coupes. I am a little obsessive about the right car for the right job. Seven for the track, Elise for mountains, TVR for touring the long way round, coupe for covering miles and a little fun, big saloon for motorway, Hilux for off-road. If you don't buy new, and look for cars with real feel (which are generally older) you would be surprised how many cars you can accumulate.
"The materials don't feel any better than the Corvette" uhhhh what? if you think that the Corvette interior is made with as good of materials and will last as long as the LC... The vet is amazing but it's not magic, its a GM where all the money went into performance.
being both new you cant feel reliability you can't see the wear items. I agree but i can say the new corvette is done very very nicey but give it 5-10 years and the c8 will be another corvette and the lc500 will be special. and still feeling great. it was made with very good / great materials but it wasnt made with high quality lexus material however both are too new to tell a major difference. brand new the c5 wasnt as squeaky as it is now

The Lexus is just under 4560 pounds? WtF. A Dodge Charger Hellcat WIDEBODY is just under 4590. That weight for a convertible is weird/scary/confusing to me...
@@gloriousrunningpotato Regardless of how you feel about the Hellcat and the terminology that everyone uses for the wider version... My point is that a full size four door SEDAN with fender flares/widebody is almost exact same weight and that's weird to me. To know that a two seater weighs the same as THAT monster?! Mind boggling!!
The charger uses a chassis architecture from a 1990’s Mercedes e-class while the LC500 is based off the LS 500. The amount of structure adhesives and use of high strength steels in the lexus makes it that very stiff but very heavy. Lexus says the chassis on the LC is even stiffer that the carbon space frame from the LFA, that is wiiiiild.
Damn...what a view to drop your top and drive in. Mmmm...such enjoyment! On that note...i'd take the Lexus for the timeless style that'll become a classic & the sound of that V8! Corvette just looks like a knock-off Ferrari. Tacky.

These 2 cars do not have the same mission or audience, in my opinion, so they shuldn't be compared. The LC500 is for comfortable/sporty touring and the C8 is for all out performance oriented driving. Personally, I prefer the LC500, overall, but I wouldn't turn down a C8 if someone wanted to give me one :D
We hear you, but we’ve said many times on our podcast that the older buyer who goes after the Corvette is probably actually looking for what the LC500 provides. Also, we don’t think of this base Corvette as the driving focused version… it’s a very competitive grand tourer… the same segment where the LC resides. Thanks for watching!
The Lexus is really a personal luxury car with the performance of a GT. The Corvette can be a fantastic GT car and certainly would be the most exciting of the two in terms of performance and handling. The Lexus excels at looking good, being luxurious, and is fast enough to keep things interesting.
I love both of them, and would require a good test drive in both in order to make up my mind. But that new Vette reminds me of a Ferrari. So aggressive looking.

I appreciate the comparison. It came down to these two cars for me and I chose to place my deposit for the 2024 LC500 Convertible over an LT3 C8 Convertible. It came down to three reasons: 1. You can expect a Camaro or Cobalt level of customer service and care at Chevy. It reminded me of older complaints when people were buying $100k Nissan GT-Rs only to realize that they're getting Sentra levels of customer service. The clientele and agents that serve the clientele are just not worthy or equipped to service customers purchasing $100k vehicles. You'd actually get better customer service owning a $60k 718 Porsche Cayman than a $100k Corvette. 2. The C8 is sporty but the design looks to be rather immature. It's not what you'd call a beautiful car. A bad ass-car, sure, but not pretty. In Star Wars terms, the C8 is an X-Wing, and the LC500 is a Naboo fighter (the yellow starfighters). The LC has a maturity about it that makes you feel bad ass with the engine sound. The C8 is a bad ass car that lacks maturity. Where I am in life, I want more of a James Bond experience than a Roman Pearce from Fast and the Furious kind of experience. 3. The rear seats. This one's weird because half the reviews say they're good and the other half say they're useless. What I do know is that I can have a toddler seat back there and boom, all of a sudden the LC500 is a classy family car, and now the wife's onboard! While I appreciate the comparison, I don't think the criteria considered was right. If you're going to use golf as the metric, talk about the cup holders, the service quality, the build quality (I'm hearing several horror stories on FB threads concerning the C8), the fact that there are only a few thousand LCs in the U.S., but everyone and their moms seem to have a C8 now, the comfort, the A/C, not pointing the car in sharp corners-if that were the goal then a Porsche 911 would be a better candidate.
I feel like I might be the only person in the world who can't think of crossplane V8's as sportscar engines. To me, it fits perfectly that Lexus (maybe revving a bit lower) because it doesn't inspire misbehaviour to me; sounds much more like a relaxed, low-stress cruising engine. I'd have the Lexus for that. The Corvette, on the other hand... I think it would be the PERFECT supercar if it had a 3.5 - 4.0 litre version of nowadays Z06. A screaming flatplane V8 does sound like misbehaviour. Thanks for yet another marvelous video, guys!
This review really feels like you were payed off by Chevrolet. Your assessment of the LC is really at odds with the consensus, and you gloss over the flaws of living with a corvette like you have chevy branded on your butt cheeks.
Ted I was thinking the same. Couldn't be more biased and more a waste of time on this video. Both cars are amazing, but shouldn't be compared to start with. Smh
For everyday driving, you buy the Lexus. For pure driving pleasure, you buy an Evora GT or a used Cayman GT4 with a manual. The corvette is trying to be too many things, for too many people.
I disagree. Having driven the Cayman 718/992 (not the GT4, but the regular) and the C8 the Vette is kinda better in every way. The Porsche interior is higher quality, I'd say that's a noticeable trade-off, but the C8 is no slouch on the interior, but the seat is a little more cramped IMO. . The C8 is kinda ridiculous how versatile it is. The visibility is about the same between them, but the front-lift in the C8 means I can get into my driveway FRONT-ON (ZERO angle), where-as Porsches like to tap the bottom of the front bumper if the angle isn't extreme enough, so daily driving it is awesome, because you just tap that lift button and you can pull into any reasonable place. Then the power is just so sudden and torquey in the C8 compared to the Cayman, which never gets old. Accessibility to switches is probably about equal. But in comparing the GT4 you're still comparing a 120k car to a 75k car (in average accessories). There's a significant gap there. Rent one, it's really a fantastic car and I don't think you'd think it's being too many things from behind the wheel, it's amazing how well it covers everything. I think I'm going to buy one after Coronavirus when the dealers stop price gouging. EDIT: You mentioned specifically the driving experience which I didn't talk about. I'd say it's similar. Both the C8 and the 718 are very precise, and just a tad numb. A 997/987 Porsche or C5 feels much more connected to the road, but they also suffer HARD on the highway, especially the S / Z06 models, the suspension just can't do it comfortably. But yeah, having the manual trans in the Cayman is definitely better for experience - though I can't say I entirely missed it in the C8.
@@MrSlowestD16 and this is why manufactures offer many different options. I didn't care for the C8, it was quite big in comparison, and vague. The GT4 is an event every time you get in it, and is quite good fun to ring it out. But I've never been a big fan of big cars. I'm a nutter like Todd and drive an Elise.
@@Te1ecastermaster I hear what you're saying about the size and the vette definitely feels bigger, but I wouldn't call it a big car, it's similar to a ferrari or mclaren in terms of wheel base. But also, there's a 50k price difference at least between the average MSRP's of the C8 vs the GT4. They're not really comparable vehicles. The vette may not be quite as precise as the GT4, but I'd still say it's a far cry from vague, and it's faster in the 0-60 and 1/4 to boot with a similar ring time. . Used the GT4's are running 130-150. That's literally 2x the price tag. . But yeah, I agree they could have added it to this comparison as you can probably fit golf clubs in there.
Why these guys don’t get more views? they are making high production videos, putting their souls into this and gain only a fraction of the views of a guy talking about quirks and features for half an hour using his cellphone. The world isn’t fair.
@@simeonspence1953 Most of their comparisons are really good and interesting, even this comparison isn't bad, some people don't know thoroughly what is the LC500 or the C8, every word they said about those cars is correct.
Titles that don't explain what the video is really going to be about. I just stumbled on this channel recently but have started 10-15 video's and gave up on most after 5-10 min because they weren't what the title said they were going to be. Their commentary and reviews of the actual cars is absolutely top notch and interesting but I'm feeling like I'm not getting what I expected from the videos often in terms of the cars being compared.
everyone is complaining the touch pad in the lc, but nobody knows that the heated/cooling seat and even heated steering wheel can be turned on or off automatically. As a lc owner, I never ever need to turn those on or off myself. To be honest, the computer handled it pretty well.
The weight difference with the LC500 is due to higher quality materials. I’ll take the Lexus 100 times over. Speed doesn’t equal better. Quality & balance does.
Paul: “This is the best balance of sound, beauty and natural aspiration that is unmatched.” All right Paul now I know you must be on GMs payroll! You’re telling me that you TRULY believe the C8 is better than ANYTHING Porsche builds with this statement? Let me play Joe Biden for one second and say: “Come on, man!”
The first car I started drooling over was the lc500, and I saw this video but ignored it because I thought the two cars were designed for different people. Now I’m drooling over the corvette, and here I am haha. Haven’t finished the video but thanks in advance
Geez..this guy is repetitive in the extreme. The LC is NOT A SPORTS CAR..it’s a sporty GRAND TOURER. The comparison is moronic. The LC never claimed to be a singular ‘sports car’. The front engine layout itself (with an admittedly useless back seat) couldn’t be more different compared to the 2 seater mid engine C8 and for him to constantly tell you what it DOESN’T do compared to the C8 is laughable.
We guess you didn't realize there are two different reviewers here. And while we understand and stated the differences in these cars and the manufacturers intentions, both are positioned as great grand touring cars that carry golf clubs - we did didn't invent that information. So we took it from there. Thanks for watching.
I am astounded by the quality of the work you guys produce! The production quality is world class, the scenery is breathtaking and your commentary on the cars you review is first rate even when I may disagree with your outcomes! I always look forward to your videos, TV programming and podcasts. Keep up the great work and thank you for your efforts to give your followers such amazing content!
The LC looks a lot like the LFA and the LFA still looks very modern. If you threw some new light modules in an LFA and I'd think it just rolled out of the factory. The Vette looks amazing as well.
So the GT car isn't as sporty as the mid-engined sports car...Thanks, that was extremely informative.
Yep that's about the sum of it all. I just watch to see the mullet blowing in the wind.
@@georgimihalkov4781
The Emira will be 200 lbs less with the AMG engine, plus more HP and torque than the Camry Engine.
@@georgimihalkov4781
The appearance of the truly exotic Emira, a $60,000 racecar with better torque to weight, is another major problem for the C8. An Emira laps a C8 on the first lap.
The lexus is a luxury gt. Its not built for precision and chasing lap times. The corvette however is more of that so basically you cannot compare them. My opinion
But as it stands, the current base model c8 is more of a gt than a track car because of how it handles. The higher trims will be more track focused.
That lexus LC500 is obviously not a lap time chaser but it still a blast to drive. But then again there is a LCF coming....
I drove the LC500 at Laguna Seca. It is not a 9/10 lap time chasing car but it is good enough for a 5/10 and it is no slouch in the corners.
The Mercedes SL is the natural rival to the Lexus LC.

The Lexus LC is here for 3 reasons: To look amazing, to sound amazing and to feel amazing
The Vette is here to handle everything else
Funny you mention that because the C8 blows the LC away in all those categories.

@@sgtsimplycrispy7749 It's a place called Cascade Springs. You can get to it through American Fork Canyon, Provo Canyon through the Alpine Loop, or you can go through Park City/Heber/Midway. It's really nice but its hard to drive safely and spirited with how many people are driving as slow as possible. I probably shouldn't be sharing one of my favorite places but oh well.
Virgin tarmac.
Yes agreed. The review though came in, in an appalling third.
Everything you want about the Lexus... until it faces a Chevy Corvette.
@@waltermeono5253 nobody buys a lexus to race ppl plus chevys are shit
My issue is that they could have or should have (and maybe will in coming years) increased power and performance for the LC500. I would expect for what you pay, that Lexus would put forth a better effort to compete with it's intended competition (BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.).
you're getting the lexus for the comfy interior and ride, not track numbers. If you really wanted to track the RCF exists
The LC blows away the C8 interior. It's not even close.
I agree a 100%, I own a LC500 and the interior of similar priced vehicles don't even come close. I have been in the new Corvette and was instantly turned off by the quality of the interior.
If you like complex infotainment. Oh, are you taking about the materials?

This video should get more thumbs down. One is unreliable Chevy and the other one a Lexus.
comparing 2 very different cars using metrics that benefits one over another is bound to be a failure in objective comparison. Lexus is a better car for the golf crowd because those folks aren't tracking their cars. The lexus is a much better looking car... yes it's my opinion. (an opinion like this entire video comparison)
The lexus is better looking car, better built quality, more solid frame, more reliable, better sounding, more comfortable... so yeah, if I'm getting a car in this class I don't need a car that's worse in every other way but better at landing me a speeding ticket.
Now if I want a good handling car, I'll get a porsche. If I want a good 0-60 straight line car, I 'll get a tesla. If I want a comfortable cruiser that's balanced and great in every respect that's important... is there another car under 150k that's better than the LC500?
yes the C8
@@miked.7722 in terms of number of trips to the shop yes.
Tesla is another manufacturer that produces some of the least reliable vehicles in the US. It ranks second to last with Lincoln being in last place.
The top three according to Consumer Reports are:
1. Lexus
2. Mazda
3. Toyota
Yes, why take a GT car (Lexus) and measured it by sports car expectations? You guys think everything is a nail?
@@EverydayDriver notice how you said “in this spec” completely giving up the validation of your point, and furthermore proving everyone’s point more.
Yall complain too much its 60k how much you expect at that price jeez

LC is simply timeless!
Same thing for most Raptors and Wranglers.

I can fit several golf bags in my subaru outback. Just saying.
Don't forget, you can fit several ladies too, and their gear, and not just one! Granted, those coupes entice a different type of lady.
You should try and turn it into a convertible.
Lol 😆 lol 😆 hilarious. Love it.
Keep enjoying it
I was about to say: I don’t golf but I transported a buddy and his clubs in my FRS. Then spent the day drinking at the club’s bar.
"In this episode, we find another way to expense driving a C8 through the mountains all weekend." I've never put golf clubs in my C6, but it fits 6' cedar planks quite nicely.
I feel Lexus is built to enjoy for many years without any major problems, cannot say the same for the Corvette.
Next week, the Mercedes SL vs Ford GT.......both have a glove box!
What would you rather, a 2012 LFA or a 2012 Corvette? A mid 90s Supra or a mid 90s corvette? Corvettes are cool in the present because they are cheap. But in a few years you end up with is a cheap car when the newness wears off. The LC500 is something special.
Rather have a 2020 c8 than a 2020 Supra
I would take the lexus all day every day
It feels like they are bias more to the Corvette even though there aren't meant to really compete with each other.
Convertible sports cars.
The LC500 is more awesome and special.

LEXUS ALL THE WAY
I'm convinced that the Corvette will become a car I will buy in a couple years.
The Golf is one of one. The Lexus and Corvette are one of two, or three, etc.
@@krane15 perhaps you misinterpreted? Golf the sport, not the car…
@@jasonwagenmaker2295 Indeed.
Instead, all you talked about is how well each one behaves when pushed through the corners on a beautiful windy flowy stretch of open road and not a single golf bag in sight.
exactly what i was thinking about!
This is a no brainer! The Corvette for any occasion!
The jaw dropping scenery really stole the show in this video.

Watching this made me EXTRA happy I have old school cars like my 1991 Honda Civic, and my Lexus SC400.
That Lexus IS so Effin sexy. I can’t breathe
Not at all surprising.
I can see how the C8 might seem a little boring or vague in tour mode but sport or track mode is such a wide difference and anything but boring in my opinion.
but honestly, driving the ZL1 or C8 could you really go wrong in preferring one over the other?

you can say that about all base model / z51 corvettes. truthfully they are all lacking in something with the capability to get there with suspension tires brakes. and if you want more power.

It’s amazing how the Lexus makes that Corvette look absolutely cheap. And I LIKE the Vette! But damn that Lexus
Good point. It definitely looks like quality.
Have you ever seen a lexus factory? You should Google it. The c8 is still a massed produced vehicle just like a tahoe.
@@wongchai807 Does that really matter? C8's are very nice automobiles that no Lexus ever created, can outperform.

I dont know about Chevy reliability though, actually savage geese said it best get the longest possible warranty you can afford lol
We put over 2,200 miles on it in 2 months before we had to park it for the winter because of my emergency hip surgery. It’s the best vehicle I’ve ever driven in my 62 years of driving experience. It does everything extremely well.
These are 2 cars I will buy used in like 2-3 years. Both amazing. One gives you a super car look and the other gives you a fancy GT look. One is more like a budget Hurracan and the other a budget Aston Martin
The prices seem off though. Chevy website says the convertible starts at 90 so with 18,000 in options that would put this car at 108k compared to the Lexus 111k
What’s up with the price?
90+18=108

The vette alright! Lex Luger 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Luxury sport
I’ll take the Lexus they can keep that corvette
If possible can you guys include the locations in which these episodes were shot at? Really appreciate the videos guys keep up the great work!
"The materials don't feel any better than the Corvette" uhhhh what? if you think that the Corvette interior is made with as good of materials and will last as long as the LC... The vet is amazing but it's not magic, its a GM where all the money went into performance.
Lol...they don't know quality
being both new you cant feel reliability you can't see the wear items.

When you factor in reliability and resale value, the Lexus leaves the Vette in it's rear-view mirror.
I'm counting on the price drop so I can actually get a C8 at its original selling price of 60k with all the bells and whistles (also shipped to Europe where I live because at this point, it will be faster to wait for the price drop then them releasing it here) 😂😂
@@saltyfloridaman7163 sorry, research is your friend. Good luck with your vette though.
@@saltyfloridaman7163 first of all, using the current used market as a gauge is ludicrous. Secondly, how are those used vette interiors holding up? GM reliability is nowhere near Lexus unless you're reading corvette forums. How much is a clutch job on a C5? How about those C3 and C4 dashes? How many could put 100K on them without major electrical issues? And finally, how many corvettes will be made compared to the number of LC500's? No, no......NOOOOO!!!
The Lexus is just under 4560 pounds? WtF. A Dodge Charger Hellcat WIDEBODY is just under 4590. That weight for a convertible is weird/scary/confusing to me...
buuut its NOT a widebody as adding little fender flares doesnt make a car a widebody.
@@gloriousrunningpotato Regardless of how you feel about the Hellcat and the terminology that everyone uses for the wider version... My point is that a full size four door SEDAN with fender flares/widebody is almost exact same weight and that's weird to me. I drove a 2003.5 MazdaSpeed Protege for 10 years then traded it in for a 2013 MazdaSpeed3 then traded that for my 2020 Charger R/T last year. I've seen that widebody in person and it's HUGE!!
The Roads and the Vistas you guys drive on are always breathe taking.
Damn...what a view to drop your top and drive in. Mmmm...such enjoyment! On that note...i'd take the Lexus for the timeless style that'll become a classic & the sound of that V8!
Corvette just looks like a knock-off Ferrari. Tacky.
What the heck, guys? I watched the whole video and still don’t know if they hold a golf bag? You made a big deal about it, the least you could have done was show us how/if the bags fit.
Other then that, spectacular video, great shots, looks like a lot of time well spent.
I never thought these two would be compared… but I can see how they compare now. The Corvette looks waaaaaaay better.
The Lexus is really a personal luxury car with the performance of a GT. The Corvette can be a fantastic GT car and certainly would be the most exciting of the two in terms of performance and handling. The Lexus excels at looking good, being luxurious, and is fast enough to keep things interesting.
baseball was quintessential to the design of the LFA
I love both of them, and would require a good test drive in both in order to make up my mind. But that new Vette reminds me of a Ferrari. So aggressive looking.

Hey guys. See if you can get your hands on a lotus evora 400. Would love to see you guys make a few videos comparing the 400 vs the evora s vs Todd's Elise.
Funny you mention this, we just filmed an Evora GT for TV last week. It’ll air on the Motor Trend Network sometime in August I think.
One day I will own a lc500. That car will be treasured until the end of time.
If you have the money for either of these cars, you probably play golf 🤷♂️
Ha! I have the coupe. You couldn’t pay me to go to a golf course.
The Lexus LC500 is a modern classic and will be damn reliable.
I appreciate the comparison. It came down to these two cars for me and I chose to place my deposit for the 2024 LC500 Convertible over an LT3 C8 Convertible. It came down to three reasons:
Smh
Where in Utah do you guys film your driving? It is gorgeous there .
For everyday driving, you buy the Lexus. For pure driving pleasure, you buy an Evora GT or a used Cayman GT4 with a manual. The corvette is trying to be too many things, for too many people.
I never desired an American car, but C8 is that one car that I absolutely love
EDIT:
You mentioned specifically the driving experience which I didn't talk about.
