- We review the new 2022 Porsche 911 GTS and Targa. Two options bridge the gap between the Turbo S and GT3. We discuss the road manners, interior design, and what it's like to drive on the street. These cars have a higher availability which makes them more appealing. With tight competition would you choose Aston Martin or a Mercedes AMG GT?

Best part about the 911: All of them are good. From the base to the S models to the GTS to the Turbo S to the GT models. There's one for everyone (provided they don't bankrupt you).
A family member almost became bankrupt while keeping and maintaining a BMW X1 , we wouldn’t even dare to touch a Porsche
It’s as if they’re engineered to have high maintenance and repair costs.
@@omaralkayal7598 wtf kind of logic is that.. Bc they're both German? Porsche is actually at the top of all luxury reliability ratings along with Lexus. The X1 is a fwd badge engineered mini Cooper, hardly related to the rest of their lineup
@@papa_pt Current X1 is a rebodied Mini Countryman. Previous gen was effectively a stretched (and taller) 1 series. Ours has been dead-nuts reliable. There can be problems with the timing chain tensioners in the 4 cyl, but BMW has agreed to extend the warranty on those engines to cover that.
The most reliable/cheapest to maintain car we ever owned was a 2nd gen Civic. Our E39 chassis 530 was a very close 2nd. We put over 100k miles on that, and the only expense was replacing a window seal (2 hours of my time and $35). Least reliable/most expensive to keep running? Tie between the Subaru and the 1st gen Integra.
@@americanAlienBoy yeah I recently realized the first gen was the closest we came to a turbo six e91 wagon in the states. Yes loved my e39 530.. Also had a 2011 Subaru legacy that was dead reliable. Currently on an e61 535 and have to say pretty much deprise drivijnf the X1 when I get a loaner. The pedals are like on and off switches no progression
The way Jack laughs and then go back russian mode makes him seem insane..
Zorin-like.
Jack is a Russian model T-800.
just acts, the cars are not fun, they just make it seem like... they want to sell it to you afterall
jk. great content geese
@rasa porosanguesavagegeese is the only based car review channel on yt as far as I know
jack is a sigma king
It’s the GTS for me Mark. My wife’s boyfriend gets more leg room in the MACAN.
Haha when did diamond hands make it into youtube comments?
To the 🌙
Gets more leg or more legroom???
@@alexnutcasio936 More “leg” seen as how he’s 6’3. The extra space gives him more flexibility to buy more STONKS.
@@youngbrevy who's leg? We don't care about his!!
"Snake Eater" from MGS3... a man of culture
Such a classic.
The car is a serpentine eater.
What a thrill!
These guys are the best porsche ad. Every time they review a porsche i suddenly want one.
Every time they review an exciting car I am reminded of my turbo Corolla not having being financially viable for years and how I want an S2000 and how much hassle I could have avoided, had I been 'allowed' to get one instead back then.
If I won a Porsche, I'd sell it and use the money for one or both of those to-do's. (Running costs of a Porsche would be too high.)
Congrats on getting the factory's recognition that you guys are knowledgeable and enthusiastic motorheads. Now the rich part...
SG: _This car is a bargain._
Me: _That's a bit rich._
Seeing the Metal Gear Music Collection playing on the manual GTS made my morning!
😂 Can't beat it for casual listening.
Metal gears! Gimme the hand! 🤘
That Mexico sticker covering speedometer in the end, beautiful.
And then uncovering right at the final frame - nice
Production value off the charts. Love the intro music.
Heck yeah
They have more expensive charts than you. 😄
fastest border crossing i've seen
Most fun with the left-right border.
When you can feel the brilliance just by watching that front camera view in the corners, you know it’s a crazy good car.
So it’s between this and the Pacifica…
😂😂😂😂
Too bad the 911 doesn't have those trick stow-n-go seats.
Jack's bullion must be really flying around in the trunk.
No, but several whisky bottles.
(The mentioned three extra pounds of booze under the hood.)
Bullion to help increase front grip. The John Business endorsed handling mod.
Have always loved the GTS trim level. GTS Coupe, manual, lightweight package for me. You forgot to mention the GTS targa only comes with 4wd. You can't get it RWD.
You can't get any targa in RWD
4WD is awesome in this car. In Florida, so no snow but rain is no problem with the Carrera 4 GTS.
I know this is completely off topic from the video, but could you guys make a video comparing the best audio systems you guys have tested in cars for each different category of price point? It seems like you guys are very hard/critiquing & I would like a list to compare it to for better reference.
This is a great idea. A good sound system can make all the difference on a dull commute.
I would say that it would possibly be not very good for relations with their brand representatives. because he will have to say, that some brands just plain suck, and others do not. And when somebody tells people that your cars suck you dont want to give your new cars to review
I think the issue is usually not with the audio system brand but rather how the car manufacturers build the system into their cars. A list might be difficult and they usually just state whether it's better to pay more for the "premium" sound upgrade or not. I think before they can make a list on the better audio system you would have to categorise them based on price and use case first.
It's not a bad idea, I think it might be a good thing to ask on one of their live Q&A's.
Audio systems on a sport car?? Lol bro.. your looking at the wrong car
This is something I've wondered as well. It looks like use technical stats as well as subjective measures to determine which stereos are good and which ones are bad. Someone above commented they might not be ready to spill the beans who has the worst system out there. However, I think they could do this in a tasteful, non-disparaging way. Besides, these brands need to know that there are a lot of us out here who really do care about the audio system in a vehicle, no matter what kind of vehicle it is.
Do it! Do it! Do it!
Mark is officially a Porsche fan boy after resisting for so long. Love to see it.
Porsche gets all of us eventually
@@WeJustDrive we should all own one. Oh yeah it's 6 figures...
@rasa porosangue I think I'm doing 👍 with my GT350.
@@WeJustDrive Amen to that. I used to think they were just for old people but then I realised younger would buy them just as much but most of us are just too broke to get them before becoming old. Recently I've seen my first 992 IRL and it's just a stunning car.
@@WeJustDrive In post-Soviet Russia, YOU get Porsche.
Also, Porsche already has all of US.
Why these guys don't have a 60 minute show on Motortrend TV or something is beyond me. This is as good as anything on that station.
Man. Turbowski would love that
I wonder why He does not have His own channel on YT.
I miss Him.

BRING BACK TURBOWSKI
Can not wait for the docu-series! Even though I might never buy a GT3, I'm certainly working towards buying a Porsche and your in depth reviews covering all their niche models are incredibly helpful.
@rasa porosangue refer to the section at the end of the video
I rented a GTS from the Porsche museum in Stuttgart Germany pre Covid. Oddly enough it was a red coupe just like Mark was thrashing about.
I took it straight to the Alps for the day, what an experience behind the wheel of that machine in the Alps.
Damn! One helluva day!
@@jt2475 Yeah it was bucket list stuff, driving in the Alps was incredible, we don’t have roads like that in US. Then you compound it with being behind the wheel of a GTS all day it was amazing.
How much was it to rent
@@manfromwuhan714 To be exact it was $456 for the entire day, which is cheap compared to how they charge in the states to rent one for a few hours let alone an entire day. If I remember correctly the GT3 was the same price to rent as well, I tried to get that initially but someone reserved it before I could.
The international rpm-dependant gauge overlay is worth checking the 3900 dollar option box when you spec these out.
what is the function of that option?
What you are talking about is the "revolutionary counter". And Porsche understandably did a bad job there. On a modern engine it would switch to Mexico much earlier and then later to Bolivia, then Nicaragua up to and bouncing off the rev limiter, then Cuba if you overrev it, and Venezuela if you manage to overrev it beyond 9000.
I thought it was speed not rpm dependent
@@Dowlphin huh?
I’m so confused right now.
This new gen of 911s are beautiful inside and out
Yes, Porsche have hit it out of the park with the 992 generation. No flaws, just improvements.
The GTS is a real sweet spot within the Porsche lineup.
Base model RWD or 4WD + ecu tune is the sweet spot as for daily.
And with PDK You can also tune the gearbox.
@@jareknowak8712991.2+, purely as a driver…
@@jareknowak8712 how about the factory warranty

"Comftorbillity" is my new favorite Bush-ism from Mark
You locked a nice location to drive these cars. Blood mountain north ga is an amazing road and lots of unique surrounding roads. One of the best routes in the country.
Seriously... Who down votes any Savagegeese content? Mark and Jack provide some of the most in-depth, engaging, fun, and interesting car review and car related content on the internet. Love your videos guys, can't wait to see more Porsche content. Thank you so much for what you guys do!!
Too bad there was no "in the shoppe" segment, but it's probably all covered anyways
Love the car, hate the price. Same old story. Great vid lads, TOP marks.
You get what you pay for
@@coolamazon123 new corvette?
The only car channel that can get me to watch through the entire video regardless of how long it is, stellar work as always!
The sound mixing in the driving section is GENIOUS!
Their production value is much higher than the average channel
@@X11CHASE Preach it brother!
Epic video fellas!! You guys, the manual trans, and that "eargasmic" exhaust note has brightened my entire morning!! Cheers!
Loved the speed figures becoming "its ok in Italy
You guys are the best! Looking forward to the GT3 series ✅
I’ve watched a few different videos from the press event for the GTS. By far, Jack and Mark look to be having the most fun. Great content, as always!
I have been following you guys for a while now. The best in the business IMO, along with a couple other high end reviewers !!! Great review guys keep it up !! Hi from South Africa
Loved this video and the onboard shots. Really gave a sense of the performance and handling. Thank you!
Well, as per usual, loved the video, wondered why there are not 5x the subscribers... nothing new there. THEN, you end by telling me there's going to be long format docuseries on Porsche GT models! Absolutely cannot wait for that! Please never change the attitude to which you go about your reviews. It is so truly wonderful to have a place to go for a review that is not simply a regurgitation of the press release bullet points. Thank you both for your commitment to your art.
i get a special feeling inside when I see a new Porsche upload on this channel
You guys are so amazing reviews. I enjoyed every second of this. Super entertaining, easy to understand technical knowledge and such fun looking driving. Bravo.
I'm so thankful for Savage Geese.
This just made me book an airbnb on tail of the dragon. Lmao
Fantasy review as always! The last canyon driving bits made my tears came out, can not wait for the GT3 videos! Keep up the good works!
Excellent review! Can't wait for the docuseries on 911 GT3!
These guys are fastly becoming my favorite youtubers. Keep up the good work.
By far some of the best automotive content. Thank you for getting into materials, build, components used, etc. so much better than other folks that just hit the highlights and play with the built in iPads. Don’t ever be afraid to be honest about these vehicles as they all have some issue. Case in point is the oil dilution issue with Honda. Y’all immediately brought it up and I bet 90% of journalists don’t even know about it. The LFA discussion was great….it’s all about the details. Folks don’t often realize the amount of time it takes to design and build this stuff.
This POV driving camera is next level, keep it up guys you do fantastic work!
Vids keep getting better, love the channel!!!
Great job!!
I really like how many detail shots you take, from any/every angle, esp with the interior!
I have watched this video probably 100 times, really love it!!
Best video you guys have done to date! Thanks 👍
You guys probably have the highest comment to view ratio. I have a Targa4s white metallic red and black full leather on order with a dealer close to you guys. Thinking 2 years before delivery. Have you tried driving north to the WI driftless area? This is where glaciers did not flatten everything. Some of the best driving roads in the country!!
Great review!! And the song playing throughout the video is dope!! Make it your theme music for all your videos
Soooooo ready for my 992CS Manual!!! Great video as always!
Nice to have a well cinema graphed vicarious drive on a awesome mountain road that my orthopedic surgeon must love! Thanks guys! well done.
Man.. you guys really had fun with this one.
Love these Porsche reviews. You guys are the best!
These guys do great videos! They actually know what they’re talking about.
This was a great review....I started typing a question on manual vs pdk... but, ya you answered that one for sure on the drive.
The USA to Mexico detail haha. thanks as always! you two are great
Came for the GTS cars. Stayed for the top tier DRM free music.
Love the video and the car, excellent prod values as always and that road was just beautiful to test such a capable sports car!
But I’m commenting more on my excitement for the your upcoming GT3 docu-series. Another SG docu-series hell yeah, looking forward to it!
Great review! Love the giggles that this car gave you guys. Liked your summary as well. 👍🏼😎
Excellent well-done video as always. Highly looking forward to the GT3 series Goose.
Great taste of these cars, I am very eager to watch an in-depth technical on this and have it at your studio raised up for inspection and fawning.
Can't wait for the GT3 docuseries!!! Great stuff
Nice to see the good old Savage with best videos on FR-S I was watching in 2013! Now we are into 911... Time flies!
Honestly, in the beginning when Mark was talking about the door storage, and he was stuffing his sunglass case in the pocket, i thought it was a hotdog 😅 And honestly, it would have been hilariously on brand for this channel 🤣
Sort of like Raiti's Rides with his Twinkies. 😄🌭
This is just such a fantastic video and I love the sound work on the Coupe. Such a pleasure to watch. Will resume dreaming of one of these ;)
Well done! The soundtrack is great. I think I replayed the intro about...well, a lot!
One word to describe this video: Epic. Really wish you guys had better road in IL, Mark.
The intro!🔥🔥🔥
Brilliant review gentlemen! Brilliant!
Great review...love the roads you drove...may go up there this weekend for some Fall footage
Great Vlog , what an amazing set of cars .

i love the US to Mexico transition on the speedometer LOL
Awesome seeing you guys have fun and smile. Most of your videos you guys are so serious. More porsche videos. Maybe singer or ruf
That front facing camera was great I could feel the turn in on the curves after the cyclists was passed. The best car reviews guys great job as always!
Beautiful cars and good reviews.
I often wonder if you'll get support from a manufacturer and this video shows this is happening.
Thank you Gentleman.
Amazing test and analysis from you guys, best car channel for me.
Loved the music in the driving section
Nice to still see buttons and knobs at least...
The production quality of this channel is just insane
Vogel State Park and Blood Mountain...awesome
Love you guys, cant wait to see the GT3 review
When Savagegeese gets savage cars all is right on UA-cam.
that road looks like so much fun!
I'm not even in the market for a car and i still watch your videos.
Whoa... AWESOME intro tune. :D

Will probably never get to drive one of these so thanks for the experience.
Good honest review thank you
You guys are killin it, loved this review. Fun to watch this channel grow over the last three years. You guys hyphenate your last names yet and make the marriage official?
