    Edwin, thanks once again for taking the time to make a video to help those who are just getting into bass fishing to those who have been fishing all their lives. In my case it is 65 years of fishing. There is always something I can learn from your videos. Have you been able to srart on your lake yet? I was able to meet your son at Redcrest but unfortunately for me you were fishing at the time. What a nice young man. I was very impressed by him.🎣🐟

    Awesome video! I agree with the JM Platinum rods...both the baitcast and spinning rods. I have the exact rods and reels you showed. Absolutely love them. They are so light weight and yet very durable. Got mine when they were on sale and used a rod trade-in and reel trade-in during a Spring Sale to make them cheaper. Glad I did!!

    This is a great video. You have just shown me how manage my rods and interchanging my reels with each one depending on my technique.
    I would love for you to do a video on the reels and line size you interchange by technique and the length of leader you use on whatever line/size you use to fill your reels with. Currently I am using braid as backing for all my rods and varying my leader type and length and lb. test as needed for techniques.
    ie. 8 to 10lb leader on 20lb braid on my med action spinning rod.

    Great video. I couldn’t agree more. As a bank angler my top three rods are medium power/ moderate action, medium heavy / moderate fast, and then medium heavy / fast action. It’s how I got my start and really all you need from the bank. I branched out and bought two more technique specific rods, a heavy frog rod and then a rod just for jerkbaits because I was looking for a specific feel.

      Do more research before you buy one of those rods. I clicked on this video before I realized it was just a bass pro/Johnny Morris ad. These rods ain’t terrible but there’s better options for the price. I had the white one a year or two ago and broke it boat flipping a smallmouth that was barely 3lbs. Customer service was terrible and couldn’t get them to replace it even tho it was less than a year old. Needless to say I’ll never buy another one and will not advise anyone to do so either

    • @reelncfishing919
      @reelncfishing919 2 роки тому

      @@scooter8320 Agreed. There are several rods in the $80-100 range now that are pretty good sticks. St Croix, Dobyns, Ark, Shimano, Daiwa, ect all have solid budget options. Snag something like that in a 7' MH variety and slap a Tatula or SLX in a 6 or 7:1 and you've got a pretty nice "do all" setup for $200, maybe less, that'll last several years. Shoot, I still have a $80 Abu Vendetta in my lineup that I bought in college in '09 lol. ETA - Not slamming BPS rods in any way, I'm happy with my Crankin Stick, but there are a ton of choices now and several better options out there for the money.

    My most universal rod is a 7'1" MH spinning ..just about anything i use it. Med to small crank bait. Med to small worm, even a 10 zoom ol monster. Med to small craw. But strating to use a bait caster a little more. This was due to my back problem. Spinning was easier to cast.. But great video.. Thanks

    Great video, I always tune to your channel for advice. One Question....how do you dispose of used fishing line? I'm constantly finding line on the bank, in the water and in my trolling motor prop hub. I've found an empty water bottle, plastic drink bottle works great. twist it up and shove it in and cap the bottle. recycle the line with the bottle, or trash (at least its not in the water or on the ground). I'm curious how you and the other pros dispose of line (shorts after retying, stripped line and line changes). Thanks for all you do for us weekend warriors!

    Question, what was the jerkbait rod you were using during redcrest?? The rod looks very black and not like the BPS rods you showed in this video. I'm really considering getting a dedicated jerkbait rod. Appreciate a reply thanks.
    P. S. You and Ott help me decide to purchase a new z21 a year ago. Just put a 4 blade fury 23p prop on it and I really really enjoy driving that boat now. No more annoying porpoising at mid-range like the boat had with the three blade 23p and I didn't lose any top end. Consider doing a video on comparing different props for the z21, as I'm sure that I'm not the only person that has had problems like this. 👍

    • @reelncfishing919
      @reelncfishing919 2 роки тому

      BPS Crankin Stick will fit the bill there. It's labeled as a fast for some reason, but being a graphite/glass composite, it has more of a moderate action compared to an all graphite fast. I have the 7' MH and it has been great. I use it mostly for squarebills, but will throw deeper running baits on it too and it does make a pretty good chatterbait rod.

    I really appreciate the content you put out, but you left out essential information for us to make informed purchases. You kept saying "medium heavy action" or "heavy action" when those are power ratings for a rod and you never actually shared the action for the rods/techniques you mentioned.
    I was really excited to watch this video, mostly to hear what action you prefer for certain techniques. Do you fish drop shot on a medium extra fast or just fast? Fish a vibrating jig on a medium heavy fast or medium heavy moderate?
    All love my man, just wanted to reach out for the sake of clarity.

    You kept saying action but don't you mean power? I feel like pros and UA-cam people doing these videos always flip flop these or use them interchangeably but rod manufacturers don't and all this does is confuse the buyer. You can get medium power moderate fast action rods, medium power fast or extra fast. Also get medium moderate or medium heavy moderate. Using action and power interchangeably is confusing to the ones that really need the video to make a sound purchase.
