    Never heard a lens being called "stinky" before. Think I'll start using that for now on.

    Extra points for pronouncing Arles correctly!

    Hi Jake
    Ok by far this is my favorite review of the Arles prime lenses. Thorough and what i would consider real world test footage. I Would love to see you do a review on the Dulens apo mini primes.

      Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate that.
      I would loove to do a review of the Dulens APO mini primes at some point. I love all the test footage I’ve seen so far

    Have you used these with the S5 by chance? I've got a v-mount on the back of my rig but worry it would become too front heavy for a smaller camera like that. Really love the image these create.

    • @jakehayden998
      @jakehayden998  Місяць тому

      I guess it depends on the size of the Vmount you have. If it’s a smaller one it might be hard to keep it balanced, and I would also recommend a lens support for a smaller rig. I’m sure other filmmakers have used that combo though and the footage is probably insane. Open gate would be really nice with these lenses

    Hello Jake, Thank u for the review. I was wondering if you are planning on looking into the Dulens APO Mini primes, I think they would suit your style well with their vintage look

      I actually have been keeping my eye on the Dulens APO Mini Primes for a while and would love to check them out at some point, they’re definitely on the list

    how are they compared to the vespids?

    • @jakehayden998
      @jakehayden998  Місяць тому +5

      The vespids are less “corrected” so they will have more imperfections. The Arles are much cleaner and open up a bit wider (T2.1 vs T1.4). The Vespids are also a lot smaller

    "No noticeable vignetting" did you add it in post??

    • @jakehayden998
      @jakehayden998  Місяць тому

      Are you asking if I added or reduced the vignetting in post? I didn’t affect the vignetting or distortion at all

    what follow focus do u use

    • @jakehayden998
      @jakehayden998  Місяць тому

      It’s an Edelkrone Focus One. I love it as far as single rail follow focuses go

    Hi Jake. Small correction. The marker on the camera is not the central balance point but the sensor plane.

  • @MrIsaacE
    @MrIsaacE Місяць тому +2

    "Keeping the sensor stable" is not accurate. The camera is not floppy. If one part of the camera is rotationally stable the whole thing is.

    • @jakehayden998
      @jakehayden998  Місяць тому +2

      Think about holding trying to hold a metal pole stable from the middle, it’s very easy. But if you hold the same pole from one side, it would be incredibly hard to keep the other end stable. This is the exact same scenario but on a shrunken scale, if the sensor isn’t balanced and you’re fighting to keep it balanced, it will introduce extra shake. Simply adding weight CAN help, but an unbalanced rig won’t do your footage or muscles any favors

    "Everyone" is not talking about those lenses !

  • @crs2crs2
    @crs2crs2 Місяць тому

    If I took the bait, I get to say it. Why is everybody talking about them? Easy. They're youtubers and they like money or free lenses.

    • @jakehayden998
      @jakehayden998  Місяць тому

      Maybe, but I didn’t get paid to make this video and I don’t get to keep these lenses. Everything I say in this video is my personal opinion and I think these lenses are really awesome. You sound less optimistic about them, what do you think is wrong with the Arles Primes?

    • @crs2crs2
      @crs2crs2 Місяць тому

      @jakehayden998 I haven't tested them, honestly I think they're overpriced. The title of the video was a question and I already knew the answer. When everybody talks about a product it's usually just marketing. So i admit it, I clicked just to answer the question not because I'm interested in these lenses. Fortunately, these days everyone can find a suitable lens option in every price range. We're lucky.

      @@crs2crs2what’s your verdict of them? Why do you rate them as overpriced?
