    Wow! I remember when I was just a kid and I saw Ferraris, Porches, and other high end sports cars on the street. I would just sit there and examine them. When I got to the rims, the brake systems looked so complicated and was always amazed by the beautifully painted 4-piston calipers; crossed drilled rotors; vented gold colored zinc disc; and the over all dimensions of the breaking system. I would always see Brembo painted on the calipers and I knew they were something special.

    this is the only motortrend video i have ever liked, and a big part of that is because none of the normal presenters were in it.
    the result is that i like this video a lot.

    Great episode. I really enjoyed seeing the 3d rendering and some of the extra cooling that is now being designed into the break systems.

    They should do a brake test comparing all the different brake manufactures like stop tech, and Brembo to stock brakes and see if they really are worth the $10,000 dollar option. White girls need them to get to starbucks faster.

    I ran a set of brembo street bike brakes on my dirt bike for a while, they were totally amazing, up until I took a big rock the disk, and it bent it up nicely, and that in turn destroyed the caliber. It split the 4 pistons, shooting fluid everywhere..

    • @slomotrainwreck
      @slomotrainwreck 10 років тому +3

      Some gauges are filled with oil and some are filled with glycerin. These fluids in the gauge help dampen the movement of the needle (like a shock absorber), this help save wear and tear on the mechanism. By dampening the needle oscillations, it makes the gauge easier to read.

      They opted for the cheapest Brembo brakes. Why do you think a big hp car cost so little? By manufacturing it with the cheapest parts. They were only after the name so people would see the Brembo name, otherwise they would have bough even cheaper brakes from some unknown brake company.

      Those brakes work 100% better than most cars on the streets. Any car will melt they brakes at the track, I remember reading about the Aventador been one of them. I have brembos on my 2011 GT and the brakes are considerably better than the stocks ones on my friends regular GT.

      Yes, but the high performance Mustangs are known for weak brakes. Top Gear was beating the Aventador around the track and the brakes got hot after some very hard laps. That track has some long straights with top speed at 200 miles.
      Randy Pobst said the same thing about Mustang brakes when he tested it. The brakes were gone after one lap and when you give a car that much power you should give it better brakes.
