I'm a 4runner guy so just like you guys said I just wanna hear how awesome the 4runner is XD. I do like the bronco but I can't get over the reliability of the 4runner and I love how ancient the platform is.
Back in 07 I ordered a Wrangler, kept it for 6 years. I liked it for what it was. Now I have a 22 Bronco 2 door outer banks on order, l hope it serves me as well as the jeep did. We'll see.
Great summary. Got my Bronco Badlands (manual) a month ago. Fun but now I’m thinking the 4Runner was what I really needed because I road trip with family and dogs. Came from an Xterra so I wanted something with a removable roof but now I’m missing the roof rack because I switched to a soft top to get it sooner. I think the 4Runner won me over because of the 2nd row and cargo configurations making it that much better for traveling with dogs. I’ll probably have some fun with the Bronco for now but will eventually move to the 4Runner.
Toyota will out last any of these American made vehicle I work for a warranty company for years now and we never get claims for Toyota vehicles… ford Chevy and ram were get so many claims from engine to transmission to radio display screens to top it off alot of there parts are on back order which is just horrible with these new vehicles Toyota on the other hand is world wide and don’t ever make big changes to there vehicles so parts are easy to come across
Just info for anybody reading this: As of 2023 the Bronco has way better crash ratings than the 4Runner. So if that's important to you on a long highway drive, you may want the bronco. Go check out the IIHS results. The 4Runner isn't terrible, but it is not nearly as safe as the Bronco.
The 4Runner was my choice, but ended up being WAY too expensive earlier this year. SO I ended up getting a used GX460. Still does everything it needs to do, with a little more comfort.
That summary about where you are and getting a 4Runner completely sums up my thoughts in buying when I was working last year. (I got a 4Runner so I can do off road and still have something to do long road trips and use as a daily with the family)
I'm with Tommy about the infotainment system. My 2019 TRD Pro seems super outdated but I really find the crumb trail function of the GPS tracking super easy to use, reliable, and keeps me from getting lost.
I’m one of those rare cases who actually looked at all three of the aforementioned vehicles, and researched them for almost 2 1/2 years before I made my decision. I stayed open minded and looked at almost every study, comparison, and finally chose the vehicle I felt would fit my lifestyle not just now but years from now. It wasn’t an easy decision, I was pulled in a lot of different directions.
@@cuirinedubh397 I went with the TRD off road 4 Runner. Overall happy with my decision. I want the vehicle to stay in my family for a long time. And after this honeymoon period I’m going to start doing a few mods then run it through the ringer. I got say though, as a long time Jeep owner I miss a few things, small stuff like turn radius and power. But practicality won out..
Why? Because it’s sooooo reliable. It will last 50+ years. It’s not that good off-road but it’s so reliable, it will probably outlive me. Can’t go wrong with reliability
@@210castro Reliability is undeniable, but reality is also a factor...I drive an SR5 with KO2's and it does what I need just fine which is mostly light trail use for camping, mountain biking and hiking as far as off-road goes. Now mind you this is just my own personal observation, but spending $52K for a TRD Pro seems a lot more reasonable and realistic than spending $70K on a loaded Bronco with Sasquatch or a Rubicon with whatever Jeep offers that most people really won't use beyond driving it to work looking like an overlander. I see so many lifted Rubicons on 35's that look showroom floor new with zero indicators of actual trail/off-road use, in short, they are just t-shirts for bands these folks couldn't name 3 songs from. I also don't know any actual off-roaders or overlanders that drive brand new, factory equipped vehicles, they all usually do the aftermarket work themselves or have a shop do them to be more tailored and specific to what they want/need. Just my personal experience 2 cents!
@@astralzombie 52k for turd pro is foolish imo, when a off-road edition is just as capable for less money. Unless you’re into spending thousands of dollars for slightly better shocks and a crap ton of red turd pro badging. Also buying an affordable base bronco with the Sasquatch package is genius because you get way more off road capability than any 52k 4runner turd pro or a base jeep.
@@210castro I doubt 50 years. Long before then the environazis will outlaw the sale of gas, oil and parts to keep it running. Why do you think Ford put those crappy turbo motors in the Bronco? They dont want them to last more than 10 years, so they can push the electric versions when thats all they have to sell. Even Toyota is dumping their known reliable engines for less reliable ones in the final years if ICE.
Entertainment systems - I don't buy any vehicle for their entertainment system (regardless of the brand). Any entertainment system can be upgraded. Maybe I'm alone here.
I mean every new car comes with Android Auto and apple car play which is all you could need. So at this point theres no point even considering the infotainment.
meh. aftermarket infotainment systems cheapen the look of your vehicle no matter how well integrated they are. they are made for the masses whereas the OEM one was made for your specific model
Look at any infotainment system over 5 years old and you'll see that they're all obsolete. They're just like the computers of the 90s and 2000s. They get old quick. I'd rather buy get one with an old fashioned radio with a Bluetooth connection and let my phone provide the updated tech.
The Jeep 3.6 (post 2014) is bullet proof long lasting reliable....as well as the Ford 2.7 ecoboost.....both engines are known to easily make it to 300,000 miles and beyond with basic maintenance .
I actually like the old school interior on my 4Runner. Driving my wife’s Lexus ES350 really highlights how valuable the simplicity of the 4Runner’s user interface is. It’s an example of technology hindering real world usability.
First let me say I appreciate having young blood and old blood on the same cast. As someone in the 30s who slots in between the father and son the viewpoints are amazing. But I will say I'm a 95 year old like Tommy. I feel like physical buttons are more reliable and the touch of buttons feels more like a premium.
1965 I was a soph. In high school. I drove a 63 cj my off road kit included, oil ,water, 2rolls electrical tape, a dozen wire coat hangers. When it would no longer pass inspection for road use it spent another 20yrs on trails in WV,MD,PA. Never did walk out of anywhere. Sorry but I just can't do anything but Jeep.
I think at the end of the day, many people probably have one or two points that make the choice for them. For me, reliability is absolutely the most important thing ... spending $53k out the door for a '21 TRD Pro the last thing I want to do is spend thousands in the shop, or worse yet, be stranded in a remote location. If tech if your most important point, then perhaps the Bronco is the best choice. IMO the 4Runner is still the best choice for people who need something practical on-road as well. I know there are people out there, "I daily drive my family of seven every day 200 miles in a two-door Wrangler and everyone loves it, because Jeep." ... but to me, you can drive a family of 4 or 5 every day, on road and off, on trips, etc. and be comfortable and still able to tackle challenging off-road trails should they present themselves.
I would've loved to see the trans from the landcruiser adapted for the 4runner and I think Toyota should offer the 4runner with 33s from the factory. A factory winch option would be nice too.
@@Kaiser333333 I disagree. I think that Toyota thinks that the segment is important to them as a global product. It's a small segment, but a collection of a lot of these smaller chunks. But unfortunately I think that the price reflects that fragmentation. Producing for a wide array of regulatory regimes is expensive and requires compromise. Sometimes the regulations close the market altogether to some products. Government makes everything worse.
You know how everyone is going nuts over the old 90's Japanese cars? Well wouldn't it be cool if they kept making some of those models with incremental improvements and not changing them too much? That is basically the 4Runner's appeal.
I was looking at all of these a couple of years ago and I ended up with a 2024 Badlands Bronco, I thought it was the most versatile and was the best of both the 4Runner and Wrangler. All are great choices.
I am in the market and debating between the 4Runner and Bronco. I am leaning toward the 4Runner because of practically and reliability. I love the Bronco for its looks and off road features.
I was a ford man for many years, I decided I needed a new reliable 4X4, my Ford FX4 off road was 17 years old. I checked out several 4X4 pickups, the 3 you mentioned here, Land Rover, & Hummer. In January of 2021 I bought a new Sarge Green, 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport, 4 door, With a 2.0 Turbo 8 speed auto tranny, I had 18" Stars put on the front doors, it looks great for military parades. The best part is I get 26MPG, when not towing & average 13MPG when towing my 16' lightweight Toy-hauler. It will even tow my Toy-hauler up the Appalachian Mountains.
With you Tommy, the obsession with screens and distractions is what people are going to look back on on this generation as excessive and tasteless. Change my mind 😆 So much ooh, this one is bigger so better... duuuuurrrrr.... Especially in vehicles targeting the outdoor experience, I wish you could just opt out the screens completely. Just have a Bluetooth connection for music
it's long term than most reviewers, and what do you expect, 5 year ownership reviews of a vehicle that came out this year? it's basically as long term as it can get.
I get what you're saying, but that's also unrealistic. If you're wanting those type of "long term reviews", than the only person you can turn to is Consumer Reports. In auto journalism, a long term review is one year compared to the few days to a week reviews. Also, if a brand new car is going to have issues, it's most likely going to have them right away. It's also a good way to know if there's anything "annoying" about owning the car.
@@garrettfordham4537 once again, if that was the case it’d take 4 years. And no one is going to watch videos or read reviews on a 2017 Toyota 4Runner. You’d need to check Consumer Reports.
And here I'm perfect happy with my 1995 K294 80 series Land Cruiser in Dark Emerald Pearl. Still haven't found anything else I'd like to buy. There really isn't anything else like it.
Just picked up my Bronco Monday and I am in love. I was lucky enough to get my Bronco at invoice price. And, speaking of the used market, I traded in my 2021 Tacoma TRD Offroad and got 3k more than I paid for it in march!
Still driving a 21 year old 4Runner with 230K miles that has been in our family since new. Just took it up Imogene and Engineer passes this summer and it performed like a champ. I guess we will have to wait until 2041 to see if there are any Jeep or Bronco owners that can say the same thing.
Hey Roman I took your advice ordered a Chevy Trail Boss or Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro for a Hunting Truck you said Chevy ordered a Chevy Trail Boss put $ 1000 down a week later I was told they could not get it and the deal was full MSRP. So they sent me my money back. My current truck is a GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 4x4. On to Plan B ordered a Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro we will see if it comes in. I will put a rack in trailer hitch cargo carrier for the Deer.
I’d say the Bronco brings a good amount of value for its price. Still wish it was cheaper. Drives much better than a keep on highway which was the big sell for me. I’m getting my 2022 Bronco in January so I’m so stoked for it!
hahahahahahah 3 minutes in: "alright guys thank you for watching" but in a way Roman is right. Generally the more off road worthy a vehicle is, it is worse at towing/payload/normal road driving. Obviously I have no Bronco experience, but many rental jeeps I have used tend to force the driver to make constant corrections just to stay straight on the highway.
So true we have a friend that bought a $62K Jeep Rubicon and they took it on a trip and she had to have her boyfriend drive after a couple of hours as the Jeep was so tiring to keep straight on the freeway.
@@mnolanco5599 Wow don't have any issues like that at all on my older willy's and my current Ruby , maybe she should look into self driving vehicles when they are available 🙄
Imo Bronco is best of both worlds! Superior to the wrangler on road. Superior to the 4runner off road. I am a fan of all 3 though so honestly people can't go wrong with any of these. Can't wait to see all the details for the new 4runner! Great time for the off road market!
This is off topic and vehicles but with your reviews helped me with purchasing my 2020 ranger xl super crew 4x4. What I am getting at is for someone in my situation I couldn't afford a lariat fx4 I had to go with XL and to be honest I would love to see a midsize off-road shoot out between the base competition. I don't know if it's possible but I imagine there are alot of guys /gals want to go off-road but can only get a base version so could you guys do a mash up off-road on some telluride trails etc with ranger /Colorado/frontier new one/ Tacoma. Base 4x4 to compare I think it would be a great mashup capability for the guys/gals that want a truck and off-road ability but cannot get the top dog is all. Thanks guys and keep up the amazing work
They don’t really like Toyotas they just pretend to like it cause it gets views cause the 4Runner and Toyota has a huge following. I think Tommy appreciates it but not Roman, he’s always about to newest best most trendy thing and he doesn’t have to worry about reliability cause he keeps the fleet trucks/cars for a year. I mean their long term reviews are literally 5,000-10,000 miles. That is brand spanking new and not even broken in yet. If you are actually buying a car or truck and plan to have it for the entirety of its life, get the 4Runner. If you just want an off road toy and then sell it in a few years, then that’s a different story.
I have a feeling that lots of people ended up ordering Broncos due to the hype... I think there will be a deluge of used Broncos on the market a couple years from now. Maybe I'll pick one up once they've actually depreciated, rather than paying over MSRP during the mania.
I have traditionally been "a Ford guy". When I started looking for this type of vehicle the new Bronco wasn't released yet. I did research the Ford "E" suvs. All fine, but not what I was looking for. I wanted a Jeep, primarily a Cherokee. Many listings where I live (desert southwest), but most were already beat-up. Noticeably missing from classified ads was 4runner, despite many on the road locally. Also noted was Toyota longevity & reliability. I bought a 4runner. 2017 SR5. All 3 are capable vehicles when in capable hands.😅
Oh man, I agree with the son here. I actually was looking at a Subaru Outback Wilderness and the biggest reason I said no to that, was because the console is SO HUGE, it feels like I'm driving an iPhone... and all I wanted were physical buttons for the offroading options and I don't want to dig around for the options in a menu system. Buttons, Levers, and Knobs for life! XD
We just turned 28k miles on our 2020 sr5 premium 4x4. We love our 4Runner, as of now it’s completely stock and is extremely capable as it is, we’ve had a jk in the past and love jeeps, but having kids we like our 4Runner more. As time goes on it’ll get a lift, tires, locker, and I’m looking into the Magnuson super charger.
Tommy I’m so glad you said you don’t need lockers on a Jeep. I trust your opinion on these things. I’m picking up a Willys tomorrow and have had a bit of heartburn about it not having lockers when other things at that price do. The top comes off the Jeep, and that was the decisive factor for me between the competition.
I keep reading about jeeps not being reliable but I've not had the first issue with 178k on the odometer however I had several problems with my Toyota from broken tie rods to head issues.
I have owned a Gladiator and the Uconnect was great I loved tht truck, but I now have a 4runner. It's different but Tommy's right theres nothing wrong with it its great. I did exactly that TRD Off Road spec I love it
Haven’t chosen yet, not in the market yet (likely waiting until 2023 or 2024). Thanks for this comparison though, will continue to watch what develops in the EV space, reliability of the Bronco, and general automotive trends…
Will also be interesting to see what they do on the redesign of the 4Runner which is supposedly coming out next year (2023 model year) if they do not push it back.
Exactly! All these people that want these huge screens in the vehicle? For what? Honestly, since when do electronics age well? If people want all this stuff there's fancy crossover SUVs out there, leave the 4Runners alone. Yeah they're not for everybody, so go buy something else. I love the way the 4Runner is. Old school but upgraded, it's awesome
I have a TRD Off Road and have put 50K miles on it in the past two years. Mine is lifted and has oversized tires but not a lot of other weight adding features. I commute 20 miles to work each way and I've taken it on many long trips (on and off road) in California, Nevada and Utah. If you drive it 65mph or lower it gets ok mileage considering what it is. Commuting I can get 19-20+mpg because I'm driving pretty slow, 60-65mph. I've gotten as much as 450 miles on a single tank before. However... if I just floor it and don't try to drive eco friendly or if I start driving 70+ miles per hours then it does really drop mpgs. In Utah the speed limit is 80mph on most of the open highway stretches. At 75-80mph I get 16mpgs or so. (That's with four people in the vehicle and a lot of gear too.) And the car doesn't feel great at 80. It's stable and safe feeling but it feels like you're running up hill into a wind storm. So I love it overall but it's kind of two different cars depending on how hard/fast you drive. 19-20mpg isn't' great in this day and age but doesn't offend my sensibilities but 15-16mpg does feel like I'm burning too much fuel. But I can sort of decide what I get by how I drive.
TFL doesn’t have a video I know of, but since I researched this heavily I can give you the basics. KDSS is much better for on-road driving. It’s also good for off-roading but if you plan on lifting your 4 runner and putting on larger tires you don’t want KDSS. It’s more complicated and lots of standard lift kits are for non-KDSS models only. Most people don’t know but you can buy the TRD pro skid plate and put it on any Non-KDSS 4Runner which is cool. You have to cut it and do a bunch of custom stuff to make it fit on the KDSS model. Final thing is KDSS is expensive to fix down the road. If you plan on keeping the 4Runner for a decade plus just know it’s a 4-5k fix when something goes wrong with it. If you only plan on keeping the 4Runner 5 years then selling it not really an issue.
The reason pick the 4 door over the 2 door for the most part is because the price is not that much different and they are both expensive any way. If they had some cheap small 2 doors that had similar capabilities, I think some people would go for that option.
I have a 21 Taco. HATE the steering wheel audio controls. A personal preference, but, audio always went up/down and channels went left/right. These are opposite. Almost a year into this and still can't remember my channel direction.???????
I think they actually agree on most things behind closed doors, but both are so good at playing devils advocate for the sake of making a interesting video that most people don't notice. Also we have to remember the bronco has already burned them twice. First ford wouldn't include them in bronco specific events. Then they bought their own bronco and it immediately needed a new top so videos would even be possible without obnoxious noises. Could be some bias associated with that.
I am actually facing this question. I am planning to replace my 2006 Jeep LJ. I like to go camping and to drive on dirt roads and fire roads here in the southwest. I'd also like to visit some of those Colorado roads you feature on your websites. While I like my Jeep, it is a Daimler Chrysler. I wonder if Stellantis-Peugeot-Fiat-Chrysler can be an improvement. From my vantage point, the merger appears to be a clash of cultures. I have never taken the top off my Jeep; I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I want the heater on in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. I have been disappointed with the quality of my Jeep. I'm on the third clutch. I know how to drive a manual transmission; I had a Toyota Camry with 180,000 miles on it and the original clutch when I sold it. I've had to replace the clutch master cylinder-slave cylinder three times as well. It appears to be a piece of Chinese-made junk. I do prefer shifting a manual transmission. but at this point, I'd settle for the reliability of an automatic. If I could buy the new Bronco with the V-6 and the seven speed, and get it before 2023, I'd consider it. Anyway, thanks for posting this.
Continuing to wait for my Bronco. Manual is a must, I don't need SFA, and the Bronco comes with the best off-road functionality. It also happens to look phenomenal which isn't something I can say for the Jeep.
Well well now that we’ve seen them all in person we can say the wrangler looks phenomenalER. the Branco is ugly in person it looks .... L.D . I’m not sure how to put it without offending any sensitive ones, but it looks like a person with a few screws missing
Every time I had to book a few hours off work to get my JLUR in the shop for a free warranty repair...it sure out did the extra ga$ in my now current 4runner. I don't have time for this... especially when the warranty runs out. I do miss my Jeep and also love my 4runner. The nav system sucks huge amounts. The Uconnect system is leaps and bounds ahead of anything out there and I miss it. I'll stick to my ol'reliable outadated underperforming 4runner.
We have a 4Runner TRD pro but are considering a bronco next round. So there’s some of us much quieter actually taking your insights and cross shopping.
Hey guys, any chance of you guys testing a non-sasquatch? All the models I've seen that get thoroughly tested have the Sasquatch package. I'm personally getting a Black Diamond trim level and was wondering what it could do.
The 4 runner has the most cargo room and is the best of the three room wise for traveling plus I can still do anything the other two can that is why it is my choice.
I would like to know that is if you know with all the new technology and bigger tv screens there putting on these dashboards the distraction ratio that directly correlates to accidents?
Is Roman one of those people that get rid of good comfortable, functional clothes just becuase he thinks the fashion has changed? Something seems off here. I'm in my late 40s and find myself agreeing with Tommy more often than Roman.
My 4 runner dident last 4 ever Tommy 😔, kept having head/ engine issues - I'm very interested in the bronco I've noticed Ford quality and tech has only gotten better
open top vehicles always sound great...until you take them on the highway on your daily commute. great if you can afford them as a weekender, second car, but living with one every day would drive me mad
Yep, one of the biggest TFL issues is that they daily drive Wranglers so much (Tommy having just bought one of his own), that they've really adapted to how truly terrible it drives on the road. The G-wagon is the worst on road driving I've ever experienced, but the Wrangler is a close second, and in comparison the Bronco and 4Runner are so much better.
@AA Mech You've proven my point. You suffer from the same ownership bias as Tommy. Wranglers are objectively horrible vehicles to drive around town or on pavement.
@AA Mech LMAO, "good visibility". That shit had me rolling. Ever look out the back window of a Wrangler? GTFO with that nonsense. Things that make a Wrangler objectively bad on road vehicles: 1) Poor safety rating, 2) well known terrible loose/unresponsible steering issues, 3) little storage space when compared to just about any SUV, 4) low fuel economy, 5) famous Jeep death wobble, 6) very noisy, 7) can't see out the back, 8) water leaks...the list can go on if you want.
I absolutely love my buddy's Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with 35s from factory. For Extra 4K its well worth the money where it includes every thing from gearing to lift. But I still love to buy a 4Runner even though its less capable. Reliability is unmatched. Safety is by far better than a Wrangler even compare how much airbags coverage of 4Runner. Even for 3rd row seats there is alot of coverage on 3rd row. I also agree with Tommy, TRD Offroad is the best trim where you can use the money you save without paying mark-up for a Pro and get your self suspension setup soo much better than TRD Pro. But I think TRD Offroad does not have blind spot monitoring, 360 / trail cam like TRD Pro and Limited has along with JBL sound and automatic climate control. Too bad I haven't had a chance to drive the Bronco. But between Wrangler with 35 vs Bronco with 35s I will go with Wrangler with 35s for its solid axle with dis-connectable sway bay. Dis-connectable sway bay with IFS.. Meh...
Cmon Roman what is your percentage looking at the info screen when you drive a car? At the end of the day its capability reliability and practicality that matters
All of these three are great vehicles, which one is best can’t be answered except as it applies to each individual. Even in the individual case it never purely objective, buying a car is a window into our soul, it exposes what we care about and prioritize. Nobody actually needs a off-road beast, it’s a play thing.
Love your channel. Watch it everyday. That being said, I really think the gas shortage will impact sales of these gas guzzlers quite a bit. We have really just started with the shortages and high prices, and I believe we are seeing the 70’s return. Electric or economy cars may be making a comeback.
Fabricated gas shortage unfortunately. Have you seen the destruction a lithium mine causes however? The industry wants to push everyone into EV vehicles that cost more upfront and repair cost down the line will be so high the cars will be thrown away and replaced instead of repaired. My ultra reliable and very capable low mileage "gas guzzler" that only cost $18k in like new condition will still cost way less over time than any new $65k+ dollar EV truck. Manufacturers and the public just need to leave to do more with less. 700+ hp motors and 35" tires from the factory isn't going to cut it when gas is $5/gal or more. Back in the day i went just about anywhere i wanted to in an 80s 4cyc toyota pickup on 31" tires. All these videos showing these crazy off roaders going over crazy rock obstacles are literally showing less than 1 percent of the trail. The other 99% of the trail can typically be driven in a subaru or 20 year old stock 4wd pickup. It'll be interesting to see the prices plummet on these used off roaders when/if gas prices blow up. You'll be able to get a low mileage fully loaded 2020 jeep rubicon for $15k instead of $50k
Agree. As I say of electric vehicles, pay now or pay later. High upfront cost with electric. ICE engines are generally pay later as they age. $5 gas is a reality already in parts of the country. Crazy.
I went with the Wrangler, not waiting on a Bronco never liked them in the 80's-90's, and with a new first year too many gremilin's. , those tie rods look like they will snap and the first hit of a rock, the little windshield wiper on the rear, The top squeaking beyond belief, the little security pad on the door; which can be simply removed with a screwdriver, the placement of the rear speakers, handle not on A-pillar. A lot of things maybe in 5 years. But competition is good and nice to see another American brand on the road.
Idk got Stellantis can call the e torque system a mild hybrid. All it does is auto start stop. And its belt driven of the engine. Normal engines can do auto start stop with out being mild hybrids.
That Bronco 2.7 has the graphite/aluminum two part block which is what is used for their diesel engines. It's Strong! Fantastic engine. I had one in my 2015 F-150 Lariat.
That’s great, but there’s a lot more to an engine than the block material. I’m not aware of any aluminum block motor that was problematic simply because the block was weak? I’m not suggesting it’s a bad motor either, I just wouldn’t base my opinion of the entire engine on just one component.
The way tommy looks at Roman when he rants. Every episode 😂😂😂😂. I love it.
Almost seems Roman drank a whole pot of coffee or something before the Pod Cast...

I am also looking at all of them to try and find what will fit for my lifestyle for a while. What did you end up with?
@@cuirinedubh397 I went with the TRD off road 4 Runner. Overall happy with my decision. I want the vehicle to stay in my family for a long time. And after this honeymoon period I’m going to start doing a few mods then run it through the ringer. I got say though, as a long time Jeep owner I miss a few things, small stuff like turn radius and power. But practicality won out..
Don’t need to watch this (I will, of course!), a 4Runner is the no-brainer!
@@210castro also, most TRD Pro’s I see on the road also appear to not really drive off road either.
@@dylanfarris7647 UA-cam Lexus RX off road capability
meh. aftermarket infotainment systems cheapen the look of your vehicle no matter how well integrated they are. they are made for the masses whereas the OEM one was made for your specific model
Look at any infotainment system over 5 years old and you'll see that they're all obsolete. They're just like the computers of the 90s and 2000s. They get old quick. I'd rather buy get one with an old fashioned radio with a Bluetooth connection and let my phone provide the updated tech.
Android auto & apple carplay 5+ inch is all you need. I rather have that OEM, looks cleaner...
4runner all day

100% correct. I feel comfortable in my Jeep going on trails as well as weddings.
I can't stand excessive road noise on long drives, so I got a 4runner. Bronco on order, but starting to change my mind.
I would've loved to see the trans from the landcruiser adapted for the 4runner and I think Toyota should offer the 4runner with 33s from the factory. A factory winch option would be nice too.
I would love this but sadly Toyota doesn’t care about the 4Runner at all, rav4 is where are the sales are at
@@Kaiser333333 I disagree.

If it helps, i just traded in my bronco for a 4runner
Why did you trade your bronco?
The 3.6L V6 in my 2016 Wrangler needed a new left head after just 25k miles. Now I'm shopping for a 4Runner...
Hey!! @13:00 I don't off-road, but I love my 2WD Tundra, even in snowy Iowa winters.
I love how you guys call your experience long term. That my friend I would say requires at the minimum five years of ownership.
it's long term than most reviewers, and what do you expect, 5 year ownership reviews of a vehicle that came out this year? it's basically as long term as it can get.
Long term to me is at least 60k miles
@@garrettfordham4537 once again, if that was the case it’d take 4 years. And no one is going to watch videos or read reviews on a 2017 Toyota 4Runner. You’d need to check Consumer Reports.

Thanks guys and keep up the amazing work
Roman likes to complain about the 4runner, but every time he drives one he talks about how much he misses it.
True that. You can love it with your heard but dislike it with your head.
Tommy at 3minutes in nailed exactly what i was thinking. Hilarious 😆
100% agree with you on the seats being the most important part of the vehicle.
I did exactly that TRD Off Road spec I love it
Reliability is most important, that takes all Chrysler's out of the conversation
Roman and Tommy, If they came out with a 2 door 4Runner would they call it a 2Runner or a HalfRunner?
Or maybe the AfterRunner.
I have the HVAC issue on the Bronco as well. Hoping it’s a software thing that can be fixed.
An eight inch screen is eight inches too big. I want a vehicle with no screen period.
Looks are important and the 2 doors look WAY better.
Simple. Want to give your kids a car for graduation in 10-15 years….buy the 4 runner.
Or the Bronco, its built off the ranger platform which has been proven to be extremely reliable as well.

Do you guys have a discussion/video of the KDSS option on the 4Runner?
IMO Bronco By far is the best looking and best designed offroader ever made. the only question is its reliability
Face it, Roman, Tommy logic bombs you over and over...Two door BRONCO is just plain Classic looking. It's what I would buy...
Personal opinion “looks” are always subjective 🤫
What has happened to the Defender? Very low output for this vehicle.
Yeh, the Defender was rated top off-roader not too long ago, but seems to have fallen by the wayside now.
The license plate problem is a Colorado thing. They shut all offices recently to try to catch up. They have also announced hiring more staff.
Can you put snorkel on the Bronco 2.7 liter v6?
Continuing to wait for my Bronco. Manual is a must, I don't need SFA, and the Bronco comes with the best off-road functionality. It also happens to look phenomenal which isn't something I can say for the Jeep.
Well well now that we’ve seen them all in person we can say the wrangler looks phenomenalER. the Branco is ugly in person it looks .... L.D . I’m not sure how to put it without offending any sensitive ones, but it looks like a person with a few screws missing
Thanks for the video. Please compare the Jeep and Bronco BLD system.

While I wait for my bronco, I went to buy a 4Runner, couldn’t find one so I bought a rubicon. Wish they had a 4Runner after 2 weeks with the wrangler.
@AA Mech They're terrible in city driving too. I have a feeling you're a wrangler owner.
@AA Mech Again you're proven my point. Your opinion is clearly clouded by your ownership bias and you're making absurd statements.
I'm a 4Runner owner. Love it. But the UConnect/NAV does suck. I love it despite that system.
Crazy.
@@canyonero2050 Keep dreaming. Gas hit $7/gallon here in SoCal and did not affect truck purchases in the slightest.
Only Bronco.... Is the Hero... Loving it... ❤️
Normal engines can do auto start stop with out being mild hybrids.
any after market turbo options for the 4 l Toyota v6?
That Bronco 2.7 has the graphite/aluminum two part block which is what is used for their diesel engines. It's Strong! Fantastic engine. I had one in my 2015 F-150 Lariat.
That’s great, but there’s a lot more to an engine than the block material. I’m not aware of any aluminum block motor that was problematic simply because the block was weak? I’m not suggesting it’s a bad motor either, I just wouldn’t base my opinion of the entire engine on just one component.
@@alexs3187 Thanks for splitting that hair...
@@Van_Liberty not splitting hairs, just responding to your logic. :)
What happened to the land Rover that you tried to attach the wrench to ?
4runner trd off road all day reliable, very capable, and practical
Mini Cooper I believe can be compared to Wrangler offering fun options to appeal to the uniqueness befitting of the buying public.
