  • Beautiful drone and ride out of the campsite road, on the way out of the Hokkaido Mountain pass. Lots of tunnels and downhills, downpours and delays. My Garmin 1000 edge odometer glitch. Japan Police pull over. Stopping for a curious family, complete with emu.

    Thanks Matt for answering my question in a subtle way . I can see what you mean about enclosed places from your camera shots in the tunnel especially with big loud trucks competing for space with the drivers texting and driving , and yes lost scenery for a few miles too many . As a fellow triker I would give anything to be in your spot or at least behind you . lol . I'm also a big supporter of Bendit Cycling , I notice you mention there shorts and pants which I love .Jayoe ..

My hat is off to you for the tunnels on the trike. I know your pain having an accident with the same shoulder issue. Did the little passenger introduce himself as Jiminy Cricket? Wonderful ice cream family with your gift back to them of yourself, your trike, and drone - cool. Would a 360 degree camera benefit you? JaYoe!

    What a beautiful part of Hokkaido! Fantastic drone footage at the beginning of this vlog and the song matched the scene perfectly! I'm constantly impressed with your drone shots that you take while it follows the bike... Are you using any automated modes for this or are you flying manually? My favourite part was the drone following along the road, then lifting off, which is a surprise since it looked like a shot from your bike at the beginning of the shot..

    another great installment! :) i was wondering a few things as Im considering bringing my drone for my cycling trip in Japan this winter:
    - Do you use the an APP - loke Drone No fly or equivalent to identify areas that are prohibited?
    - How much time roughly do you spend each day using the drone? (including trying to source good shots)
    - i know u must get good at minimising the footage, but how much drone footage ends up on the editing floor? I guess that's last question minus what I see in your vid haha
    - and finally.... do you have a bloody jar full of interesting insects that you select from each vlog?! lol how do u find them - very cool!
    Ja Yoe!

    • @JaYoeNation
      @JaYoeNation  6 років тому +3

      i have not been blocked on the app yet... except for airports... I use the drone for varying times... depends on what i am riding thru.... 10-60 minutes per day... maybe... .i run my camera from the time i take off to the time i land... so i throw out most of it... but i have missed some because i forgot to hit record... so i make it habit to just record the whole flight...... i am like 6 inches from the ground all day.... bugs and me are on the same level... so i see them all the time.

      Hi Matthew,
      how many battery packs do you carry around with you? 60 minutes, that must be around 3 - and keep them loaded must be additional job next to biking.
      I ride a tadpole, too (but it's an ICE, not a Scorpion), and I have DJI also (Phantom 4 pro) - but I'm still wondering how you manage your drone videos - automatic mode doesn't recognize my tadpole (easy with a normal bike), or do you program a path to follow? Because I don't see the remote in your hands while on the bike (which is quite a bit uncomfortable when going a bit faster).
      I'm also fascinated when I see the pictures flying on Streets with a lot of trees left, right and above the road... haven't you ever crashed with the drone?
      Regards, Stefan

    Matt, a quick question for you... as you may have noticed the many traffic lights that are throughout Japan.
    Would you say the traffic light for "Go/Walk" is it "Green" or "Blue" ??
    if you said Green... i would say "Try Again!", the Japanese refer to it as "Blue".
    Next time you are at the traffic lights, have a look... do you see Green or Blue ???

    • @callmenemo491
      @callmenemo491 6 років тому +2

      so if anyone is going for their drivers license here (in Japan), remember the traffic light colors are:
      RED, YELLOW and BLUE !

    • @catnip3141
      @catnip3141 6 років тому +2

      It's a linguistic issue. Chinese character 青 means blue, 緑 means green. 青 also means young 青春, immature 青二才 and vivid green color 青菜, 青信号. As far as you use English, green is always green.

    • @JaYoeNation
      @JaYoeNation  6 років тому

    i wonder if the glitch in reading on garmin was a flight it recorded you flying maybe or when you were back in china. Hope the icecream wasn't emu milk (dont know if you can milk an emu lol ) but would have been random. the hills and tunnels look very much like nz westcoast where i live, otira pass is similar scenery . great music and drone shots as usual. noticed the knee brace how are the knees feeling?

    • @JaYoeNation
      @JaYoeNation  6 років тому

      i dont think so for the garmin... it was strange for sure... I put the knee brace on every so often... if i feel like maybe i need support.. but it is doing very well so far.

    you should have light going on you bike as long as your moving! not just for convenience or when it gets dark. you need more then that flag Mat. you know this. remember the first try at this. a truck hit you. yes i know i can only lead a horse to water. i did a a bike trip this july and i had people asking why i had my head light and tale lights on during the day time. only one answer to it. to be seen! is my answer. get a tail light that runs on batteries, so you dont have to say its a rechargeable tail light and i have to save power. safety is KEY! my friend! Annie talk some seance into him! if you do run a tail light during the day, i didnt see it.
