If he is an established superman, it makes no sense for them to change the suit. Changing a sloppy suit to a more polished version is what all origin stories has, whether you look at Spiderman, batman begins, Ironman etc. I mean like if its origin, a sloppy suit is understandable. I think the film being animated/ partially-animated is a bit of a reach-- respectfully. I believe what he's referring to is the overall "aesthetic" of Superman's environment. Metropolis for example, isn't a "real" city. And I think James Gunn is going to make that very clear with his interpretation of it. DC's environments are supposed to be "larger than life", much like the Superheroes that reside in them. They're not supposed to be cookie cutter renditions of actual cities in real-life. Also. Partially-animated films are nothing new, and have very much so "been done before". "A Scanner Darkly" comes to mind. Edit: Double-also, with regard to his suit. Rotoscoping was tracing over individual frames of a movement to capture the fluid, natural movements of an object, usually a person, and then drawing over the model with the character from the animated work. I think aaron says they'll be drawing on an outline over the characters/actors so they pop and stand out, making each scene look like a comic book panel. I have a feeling it will look more horrible than anyone can imagine because now the movie will be shouting out what the subject is at every second as opposed to being a natural thing from actual good film making and camera work. All thats left is for gunn to turn up the saturation and barf overly vibrant colors into everyone's eyeballs.

I do like the casting overall though I don’t get why recent Lex Luther’s have to look like they are auditioning for The Machinist Part 2. there are loose superman suits. there is Allstar, and for all seasons, a couple more actually. And his suit isn't much loose, people act like it's just a very loose suit, but in reality there isn't wrinkles in it, most shots show it tight to his body, people are just used to fake abs on superman suits.

The Superman 'S' is one of the most recognizable logos in the world of all time. To go with the one off 'slash' logo is terrible. Looks like a no smoking sign.
I say to all of the idiots out there who wanted the trunks I don't want to hear any complaints about how loose the suit is b/c a loose fitting Superman suit makes much more sense than the little boy pajama trunks! They both look ridiculous! The trunks have no utility but to look goofy, stupid, and out dated! At least the loose fitting wrinkles allow more movement for Superman to move more comfortably while in action fighting. So, you can't have it both ways. Either we are going to be practical, or we are going to be silly!!!

Underpants are necessary because otherwise the design would be unbalanced. The base of the Superman costume has only one color: blue. Superman looks better in red underpants, because instead of a blue patch from neck to knee, you have something attractive at waist level, emphasizing the pattern. Besides the weapons you carry. He needs something at the bottom to make the design look right. But the reason it seems terrible to you is how baggy it is and how it fits. If the movie is set in the 1980's or earlier, I get it then. And, maybe we will get that look in the near future. They almost always do a full suit replacement in CG. Tom Holland's suit, for example, had wrinkles on set as well, then they did a full replacement.

WB/DC make some of the absolute worst decisions. They can't get their shit together when it comes to a cinematic universe. At least the animated films are decent.
I have to agree that's one hundred percent true. WB/DC have made some of the most ludacris decisions ever since WB botched and started trashing the company since the new 52 Snyder era. He understood comics and how the new 52 characters worked and weren't all happy and goofy. Think that's comic accurate, give me a break. Why don't you critics and studios read up on your lore of the new 52 before criticizing Snyder.

Rotoscoping was tracing over individual frames of a movement to capture the fluid, natural movements of an object, usually a person, and then drawing over the model with the character from the animated work. I think aaron says they'll be drawing on an outline over the characters/actors so they pop and stand out, making each scene look like a comic book panel.
I have a feeling it will look more horrible than anyone can imagine because now the movie will be shouting out what the subject is at every second as opposed to being a natural thing from actual good film making and camera work.
All thats left is for gunn to turn up the saturation and barf overly vibrant colors into everyone's eyeballs.
With Gunn nothing is out of taste. I can totally see him using R Kelly’s I believe I can fly as the title song.

I keep saying this but it's crazy nobody like the new 52 suit but all the sudden everybody like the new 52 suit because James Gunn doing it. I'm noticing these weirdos saying things like comic book accuracy when a convenience them but at the same time they shows like my adventures with superman is good like it's ridiculous and another thing I still strongly feel like what worked in 1978 won't work in 2024 for me personally and a lot of other people seeing him and trunks in the movies it feels off like this whole thing. I'm sorry but we kind of grew out of this clutz Superman and a lot of his adaptations stop that clutz thing a long time ago. If people actually read his comics you don't see Superman saving a cat and a tree a lot of times. To me I feel like people base what they know about Superman off of what they think he is. Practical effects should be better than total CGI. Many MOS scenes looked like some type of video game, such as Supes flying super fast, for instance.
Man of Steel 'til this day, has some of the greatest visuals I've ever seen in a superhero film. Go and watch the kal-el Vs faora diner fight, that seamless blend of live action in CGI. Also, the flight scene of man of steel has practical, it's literally cavill flying in front of the camera. Are you talking about the far out shots of him flying? Btw I'm just asking, there's no evil energy here.

I think it was a huge mistake to replace Cavil before giving him one more movie to see if it is a success or not. This is shaping up to be a disaster. Gunn hasn’t made a good movie since the first Guardians in my view and nothing I’ve seen regarding the production seems to refute this. I do like the casting overall though I don’t get why recent Lex Luther’s have to look like they are auditioning for The Machinist Part 2. Finally, I don’t care for the rumors I’ve heard that this is an alternate universe Earth. That is such a cop out and is becoming a tiresome crutch for story telling.

The biggest reason why BvS earned so much money was because it was an overhyped film. You can ask those who watched the film in theaters and most likely they will respond by saying how it’s a movie they regretted purchasing a movie ticket for, and that’s okay :)

You can directly ask these content creators if the main reason they liked them and espeçially BvS is due to the fact that this movie was overhyped when they have now access to a large majority of critics sites online that bash these movies continuously...
there are loose superman suits. there is Allstar, and for all seasons, a couple more actually. And his suit isn't much loose, people act like it's just a very loose suit, but in reality there isn't wrinkles in it, most shots show it tight to his body, people are just used to fake abs on superman suits.

I say to all of the idiots out there who wanted the trunks I don't want to hear any complaints about how loose the suit is b/c a loose fitting Superman suit makes much more sense than the little boy pajama trunks! They both look ridiculous! The trunks have no utility but to look goofy, stupid, and out dated! At least the loose fitting wrinkles allow more movement for Superman to move more comfortably while in action fighting. So, you can't have it both ways. Either we are going to be practical, or we are going to be silly!!!
The reason he is given underpants is not because it is a tribute to the strong men of the 20th century or because it is a canon and needs to be preserved. Underpants are necessary because otherwise the design would be unbalanced. The base of the Superman costume has only one color: blue. The chest fits well because a symbol of hope is attached to it, and the legs work thanks to red shoes, and Superman's cloak gives the hero a touch of mystery and symbolizes hidden power, as if indicating that the hero is not from our planet. The cape also distinguishes him from other comic book characters of the time, such as Phantom or Flash Gordon. This creates contrast and makes the costume more solid than the uniform. But if we take off his underpants, the design will be terrible. Snyder had to add a futuristic belt and waist details to Cavill's costume, because if we remove all these details from him, it will look like Henry is wearing a wetsuit, not a superhero costume. Superman looks better in red underpants, because instead of a blue patch from neck to knee, you have something attractive at waist level, emphasizing the pattern. Besides the weapons you carry. For example, Superman has no weapon pockets on his belt, and the upper part of his suit is painted in the same colors as the lower one, unlike Spider-Man, whose upper part is red and the lower part is blue. He needs something at the bottom to make the design look right. But the reason it seems terrible to you is how baggy it is and how it fits. You can't judge the costume during filming, and the photo was taken in poor quality. I still think they made it baggy specifically to make the actor comfortable, and then they'll improve it in the post-production process. Henry will mention that the costume was uncomfortable, and it took him 15-20 minutes to put on a Superman costume, and sometimes even up to 25. Yes, it's beautiful, but for an actor, a costume should be convenient to use and provide a quick change of clothes
And you can see behind Clark's back that the Superman figures don't look baggy.

If the movie is set in the 1980's or earlier, I get it then. I realize this is all fantasy world building, but I think the suit should look more practical in that it should look alien with a more tech & sophisticated looking design. And, maybe we will get that look in the near future. But, there is no real utility for the trunks given Cavill's suit, and the suit should look like it can withstand gunshots, outter space, extreme heat/cold, fire, ice, acid, etc. I mean Superman is going to be expected to do some very fantastic feats so will he have to worry about ending up completely naked like the Flash did b/c his outfit could not keep up with his super power abilities? 1.Taking Cavill out is the major highlight (Gunn to pay the ultimate price). The studio didn't learn from Suicide Squad when they thought Edris was the replacement for Will Smith.
2. Working actively behind closed doors even when union strikes were on for fast tracking Superman over The Batman 2.
3. Chucking out an Arab actor from Superman over few political statements
4. Treating Gal Gadot snd Patty Jenkins(fan-base do exist) the way the CEO duo did for another Wonder Woman sequel
5. Snide remark as in a tweet reply to Ray Fisher associated with Whedon toxicity abuse.
