    Like most people i used to rig the Carolina the old way.The Carolina keepers have made life much easier . Being a simple man I'm sticking to the Carolina keeper. To each is own though.

    You legend. Thanks for the great tips on drop shotting. I recently tried the Carolina keepers you use but I’ve had a few times where the keeper will slide down all the way to my hook. Does this happen to you often?

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому +1

      It can happen if your using a sinker thats too heavy. When I use 1/2oz egg sinkers it will sometimes slide. If that happens I just put 2 Carolina keepers together and that solves the problem 🤘

    Don't be afraid to move spots and sit in a River lakes also! I didn't catch anything at my first spot. Drop shot mice tails, and also bait and wait in mice tails. I was in Chris's pond, decided to move about 150 yards to the west and I caught my limit in about 2 hours. I spent about three or four hours at the first spot without a single bite. Sometimes you just got to move! I always try to fish at least two different spots if I'm going to spend the day at the mud hole

    Professor Rob!..😊
    How far apart do "YOU" have both lures on a double drop shot and from the weight ? ,ty brother !

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому +1

      About 6” away from the weight and 10-14” between hooks but I never measure it just approximate

  • @whirewalltires
    @whirewalltires 5 місяців тому

    cool video, we also use his hook remover they work well, let me know what you think about bait and wait with braid, thanks Rob

  • @highthai7
    @highthai7 5 місяців тому

    When you use straight flourocarbon on your bait reel do you have backlash/springy line issues?

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому

      A bit but nowhere near as bad as mono. A good trick when you re spool a reel, remove the spool and run hot water over the line in the spool. The hot water helps form the line to your spool and youll have a much better time

    Thank you Rob, what is the shortest drop shot and jig rod would you recommend? And what would be the max length for it as well, definitely appreciate your content

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому

      Id say 7’6” is the shortest you should go if you can help it. I know there are a few out there that use a 9’ but the longest ive used is 8’

    Rob If you had to pick one spot at each trout lake at SARL to fish at which would it be?

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому

      Probably sandy beach in the big lake and connies corner in the pond

    been trying drop shot setup at lake hemet, no luck yet. but still trying. 👍

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому +1

      Right on, keep at it. Hemet is a shallow lake in alot of areas. You may want to try a 3/32 or 1/8 dropshot weight to get it out further. It may be that the trout just haven’t seen your presentation yet

    I love the vids but it’s not that complicated 2-4 pound line with a single hook mice tail and split shot or treble hook with powerbait and split shot

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  4 місяці тому

      Well you have to remember that alot of this is for complete beginners so I always try to really break it down for folks that are trying to learn but have little to no experience 🤘

    • @Andrew-yw8ne
      @Andrew-yw8ne 5 місяців тому

      Remember last summer or so they stopped stocking GVL because I think it was algae that killed a HUGE amount of fish and they stopped stocking early because of it happened like mid ways through the season I believe

    • @Andrew-yw8ne
      @Andrew-yw8ne 5 місяців тому

      It was all over Facebook floating dead fish everywhere and the water was like green

    • @SeaSpankerOutdoors
      @SeaSpankerOutdoors  5 місяців тому

      @@Andrew-yw8ne oh I miss read it, i thought you were talking about DVL haha. They always stop stocking in September and close in October. The algae happens there every year unless they are able to successfully treat the water. The algae doesn’t hurt the fish its warm water and a lack of oxygen. They lost a few fish on the last stock but the bulk of the trout were still in there at the base of the aerators sucking up oxygen and laying low. They just wouldn’t bite. They are currently doing things to improve the water quality issues that happen in late summer/early fall
