So many times I see people just dumping sauce ingredients into the final mix without blending them together first in a separate bowl. Congratulations, you get it, and you have my utmost appreciation for your talent and thoughtfulness!
oh man - this slaw dressing recipe is STUPENDOUS! and love the simplicity. the apple cider vinegar gives it that tangy sweetness. perfection billy et merci - grazi - gracias - molto bene !
AHHHHH!!!! The mandolin!!! I'm a "seasoned" cook Please, please respect and be VERY cautious. Once I lost a chunk of my thumb, I decided to go with my knife skills instead. Those are no joke. Bled for almost a week. Love your recipes. Would love to share my sweet potato casserole recipe with you.
I love the tip about dressing the inside of the bowl! Thanks. My Dad used to make the creamiest coleslaw, using mayonnaise and a red-wine vinegarette. Terrific!
I loved the simplicity of this recipe.. Its so pleasing to the eye.. and just perfect.. thanks so much.. Love the dressing too. Coleslaw the best to go with burgers!!!
This is the best video and guide I've seen. This is the perfect coleslaw for me that I want to try and introduce to my friends and family. I appreciate Chef Billy for your time in providing a complete details in the description too as It was my first thing I'm searching for when I want to try something for the first time. Big appreciation Chef Billy! ❤😍🤗
As a critical person I have to give credit where it’s due. You make the best coleslaw on the internet hands down. Your technique is elegant simple and very important. I made a simple rustic version with just cabbage carrots fresh black pepper mayo and lemon wherein I considered adding the wet ingredients right before serving it came out excellent the black pepper married well with the raw cabbage flavor and the coarseness and simplicity of that make a great coleslaw. I’m stealing your version and adding honey and removing sugar for my shrimp tacos tonight
I certainly Did Learn Something! WOW! That looked so delicious! Just the trick with draining the cabbage and using a mandolin and putting the dressing on just before serving! I will Never Buy grocery made, saucy drenched coleslaw again! I searched because I NEED this for tonight! Love your Channel!❤😊
I make mine almost the same way . I also add fresh lemon or lime juice and less vinegar. One other note I let it sit in cooler for at least 4 hours before using I’ll then drain off water released by cabbage from the salt and redress if needed
I can't wait to try your coleslaw recipe, I made another version yesterday and it was so good, but I think I like yours even better. No way am I buying a finger mangler just to make coleslaw. I'd manage to make chef salad out of it in no time. Thanks for the recipe, I can't wait to try it!
I just made this. I didn’t have buttermilk so I added cream of tartar to the milk. Great substitute! Thanks for the recipe!! Bar-B-Cue sammys for dinner 😋
Years ago my family would go to a hole in the wall restaurant for all u can eat fish and chips, the Cole slaw was cut in small chunks instead of shredded, they use a vinaigrette type dressing and there was a spice he put in it that made that slaw special. The best I ever ate never tasted it anywhere else.
I just made this recipe ad was absolutely the best. The only thing I had to change up was the buttermilk to sour cream. I was all I had😂. Saved this I couldn't stop eating it. I did add thin slices of green pepper too....😊
Growing up, cabbage wasn't eaten as coleslaw so my early experience with it was through a yearly KFC treat meal. I make mine similarly but there's less sweetness with a different cabbage cut. The core reminds me of kohlrabi, so I eat it as a snack during prep. A quality mandoline slicer is pricey and not of plastic.
I have upgraded my coleslow with sweet red apple and crispy bacon and then ofc carrot and cabbage and then the white dressing and sometimes fine chopped green onions/spring onions
Looks good, but one suggestion - if you are quartering the cabbage through the core anyhow, don’t remove the core until after it is quartered. Then lay it one of the cut sides down on the board and a simple angled knife cut will remove the core from that piece. Same with the other three quarters. A bit easier and the same number of knife cuts. BTW, around our house it’s called Cold Slop.
This has become my go-to creamy coleslaw recipe. Thank you for sharing this recipe. It's so wonderful. (As a mom of four little kiddos, I'm finally sitting down at the computer and putting it in a recipe file! No offense: your video is awesome, but I don't have leftover mental energy to watch a video every time I make coleslaw!)
the dressing: 2/3 mayo, 1/3 sour cream, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, pepper to taste. The secret is to sprinkle salt on the cabbage mixture and then liberally bathe the veggies in cider vinegar. Let soak and toss for a few minutes. Drain off the vinegar using some in the mayo to sauce it up. A tangy and creamy slaw
Please share which shredder you have used here & where did you buy this . I have tried couple of but didn’t good experience. Your reply would be really helpful 🥰

I do the sour cream and Mayo thing with crushed pineapple! Sooo good over pulled pork sandwich!
Oh, that sounds amazing! I just made some & I have pineapple pieces in the freezer. Thanks 😊
My Mother always used crushed pineaple but also added a sprinkle of poppy seeds too- delicious!
I love it thank goodness for you Brother I always have problems with someone else's recipes but not your's thanks again 🎉😊

sliced green onion is such a good touch , added a freshness taste
I just made some. I didn’t have buttermilk, but I used some sour cream with the mayo and it was delicious.
I add plain Dan on yogurt to the mayo and one tablespoon of olive oil. Works well.
J
@@suzanne4504 good idea. I should copy your idea. thanks
I actually prefer mine with the sour cream instead of buttermilk. Makes it even creamier and less watery.
If you don't have or can't find buttermilk, put some heavy cream in a Mason jar and shake for 15 minutes. Then separate the butter from the butter mil
That vinegar based coleslaw recipe is a favourite in our house. Will definitely try this one
Excellent Coleslaw! Thank you Chef!
Very simple and clear presentation. Really like it especially the tip : not to buy the bagged ones.

Lovely coleslaw recipe. TFS !
My Mom’s Cole slaw was very similar but she added chopped fresh tomatoes. It really worked.

Can’t wait to make coleslaw! Thanks for the great tips!
Great recipe. I’ve been looking for this. Thanks.
When my mom used to make slaw we would always fight over the core. It is pretty good sprinkled with a little salt!
It reminds me of kohlrabi's firm, crunchy texture and flavor. A part of the same family of veggies.
Hell yeah!
I did too really was good

Add half a jalapeño. Gives it a slight bite, but does not overwhelm because of mayo. So good.
Can't wait to try this as Kentucky Fried Chicken's coleslaw is my favorite!! Seems so close!!
Looks delicious! Try a Tbsp. Of horseradish in the dressing... adds some extra zip!
Aha! We have the same recipe! 😉👍🏼
I do the same.😆
Sounds great!
I love horseradish in my coleslaw.
