$50k isn’t exactly cheap however it still is a bargain compared to the other utes out there that cost anywhere between $70k to the $100k+ mark which is absolutely absurd money for a ute, only reason why they’re so expensive is because they’ve become such a popular vehicle here in Australia, like a new fashion trend.

Canon X is much better value at around $40k (they do deals fairly often). Owned the Cannon X for over a year and never had an issue with the tech, has been a great car. After owning one for a while its hard to believe how affordable they are compared to mainstream brands.

I've never met an owner who doesn't love it. And they sell in big numbers which don't lie.

Just to be clear - the $70-80k utes arent actually worth that. The markup on them is astronomical. They can still make a healthy profit selling them for $50k. Aussies who buy these have well and truly has the wool pulled over their eyes

Great video as usual Thanks mate. I fully agree, these cheaper Utes make a great alternative to someone that cannot afford 80 or 90 K for one of the brand names and it is certainly keeping the major players a little bit honest. The interesting thing with these great walls and GWM Utes is how they stand the test of time so review of a four or five-year-old GWM and great Wall could be an interesting video.

I know a few people who have bought these Chinese type of utes.
Ask them how the ute goes and it's always "great for the money". Not great, but "great for the money".

If they fit a 2.5 litre or bigger motor with around 140 - 150 KW this would be really competitive .

Yeah sorry about the delay with the hybrid. I had some issues with the car but I want to make sure I’m as fair and accurate as possible. It’ll be up within 48hrs.
      Thanks for watching.

Except a Ranger or Hilux won't rust out in two years. Horses for courses as always. A 2024 Raptor is a Ford Performance product in a ute form factor. It neither feels or behaves like a 'normal' ute, and is well worth the spend. I smile every time I drive mine.

Good to see there's affordable utes out there for struggling farmers who can't afford these overpriced tradie writeoffs

  • @rogersliu1200

I got the normal version; before I did the 2-inch lift, the oe shocks had a very firm compression for the high-speed bump but lacked the dampness to cope with the rebound after the compression which made it very uncomfortable. With an aftermarket shock, the entire car moves more normally at bump, rebound still a bit strange but it is much more comfortable. THe XSR model is an offroad ver that has an even stiffer suspension. If you don't need front and rear lock from the factory, stick with the normal version.

What is GWM doing with their logos? There's the dirty big Google Maps badge on the grille, but the old bottle opener on the steering wheel and tailgate. Another great vid, by the way!

It's honestly not a lot of money to get a really useful vehicle, and from 35k it's in the same price category as an i30 or Kia Cerato. For that money, you can enjoy most of the lifestyle without risking the notoriously bad used market for utes/4by's (Potentially wound back clocks, worn out, abused, unrealistic prices etc)
I guess all of the brands have their own issues. The Triton with the smaller wheelbase caused frame issues especially with slide on campers, the 79 series and the narrower rear wheel track and literally just an 80k box of stamped metal sheets and injection molded plastic on a frame, the new Ranger with electrical gremlins and diff issues, the Navara with its relatively poor engine/towing performance - worse even when compared to this etc..
