The purpose of the shift down, car switches to auto is when you're going downhill. You can shift down to give more resistance on the downhill to maintain speed without braking, and as soon as the engine detects the hill is done, it will shift mack to auto.
I was about to purchase a cannon x here in Australia. At the end, I got a ranger wildtrack x. It's just one thing that the cannon annoyed me which was the turbo lag. I personally think an idrive throttle would be a must to fix that thing hopefully. Firmware upgrade doesn't fix that - maybe improve it a little bit. Other than that, I'd recommend cannon over hilux, navara, ldv, triton (I've done test drive on all of these). Haven't tried BT50 and Dmax but thought they'd probably very similar to navara or hilux.

Good tips. Any help on disabling the sensors at 10km/hr? Annoying to have cameras and front and rear sensors on every time I slow down. I don't need to be told there's a car in front and a car behind during bumper to bumper peak hour traffic. I know! I don't appreciate it turning down my music for the alarm, the music is what is keeping me sane during stop start 10km/hr peak hour traffic! E: Also annoying when off road through trails when I'm trying to think and not hear a dumb alarm.
You'd use Cross Country Expert where you want the centre diff locked, but want to stay in high ratio. I've only used it "properly" once .. climbing a sand dune. I want as many wheel turning as possible, but also wanted speed.
My boy is thinking about getting one of these in Sydney. Significantly cheaper than other options. I looked at some Aussie reviews, and for the money it's not a bad deal. I'm a diesel mechanic so I had some reservations. His brother has a Highlander so I expect regular challenges and healthy debate. Kia Ora brother.

My wife's Samsung S20 works when plugged in just fine but my Huawei attempts to connect but then nothing. Any tips on that would be appreciated.

as a follow up. I have an Android tablet with Android 7 .. it simply won't work. I get an error on screen saying incompatible versioning. Maybe something else to check is your software version in the Cannon. Check for version ending in 2021-03-16
@@loudas Hey Paul, I opened the Android Auto app on my phone and went into settings and found a menu option called 'Previously connected cars' which had a switch to 'Add new cars to Android Auto' & text saying "When you connect your phone to a new car, the phone will only charge.". Flicking the switch on, Android Auto then began the setup for a new car. Problem now solved with my Cannon X now working fine with Android Auto. Cheers mate!

The T90 is quite a bit more powerful and has plenty of features but overall it just feels like a response to the Cannon/Poer with a heavily upgraded and modified T60. The GWM product was developed from the ground up to the tune of billions of dollars, on a new platform with highly revised powertrains using renowned suppliers like ZF, Cooper, Bosch, Intel and the like and if things go the way GWM expects, it will be running off production lines in many countries to compete in many markets not unlike the Hilux. There are BEV, petrol and hybrid variants in the pipeline too. So it's an extremely ambitious product that will become its own range at some point, not just an admittedly very competitive rehash and it shows (at first glance even, as it's huge).
Hello I'm interested in these Ute. When you on normal mode is it act as AWD? Cos on your dial only display 4L. So I'm curious if it's AWD + 4L system. Would be good if 40k with AWD for a family car.

There is a 4L and a normal (equivalent to 4H) The Cannon is fulltime all wheel drive. so is "always" in 4wd (unless you turn it off, by selecting "economy mode") Cross Country expert lock the centre diff, so you get a 50/50 split of power going to front, and to the rear. Pressing the traction control button should just turn tracktion control off, and the "cross country expert" is no way to allow driver to relate to center diff.... The design rule (regardless which country you are at) requires the icon to relate to the function. I don`t believe press and hold “traction control" lock/unlock a diff. But if the user manual says it, then I got nothing to say.....
4 things Paul. Are you aware that the 7 year unlimited and 5 year roadside assist is flawed. If a breakdown occurs , towing is limited to 50km, NOT to the nearest GWM service centre. It is also not 5 years unlimited km , it is 5 yrs or 100,000 km. Im at 30000km after 6mths so roughly 18mths roadside assist. If the car needs any sort of towing and the engine cant be started, a tilt tray is required. Nearest dealer could be 1 thousand km away, hardly the reason I bought this vehicle. I am setting up a case with fair trading as all of the dealers ,sold these vehicles under false pretences. Anyone who has one , ask your dealer for clarification. They will refer you onto GWM roadside assist who will then spill the beans on this fraud.
None of that applies to me, as I'm not from Aussie :D New Zealanders (where I am from) are protected by our consumer guarantees act. I have an enforceable contract with my dealer. That roadside assist is the same as ours , nowhere in the terms of service is there a mention of either 100,000km or 150,000km limits. It was when calling roadside assist that I found out. I love your you tube stuff. It helped in my decision to buy a cannon. Only had minor electrical issues , but getting help from dealer or GWM, may as well ask the man in the moon.

Cross country expert mode does not lock the diff, it disables traction control. Locking the diff by pressing the diff lock button when you’re stopped will lock the rear differential though.
You are incorrect. Expert mode locks the CENTRE diff. The traction control button disables traction control. You are correct the diff lock button locks the REAR diff

My previous Greatwall v240, I had to make a warranty claim about the paint in year 3. Time will tell with the Cannon 5. Correct .. you need software upgrades and ecu upgrades. Greatwall are open about this, it is no secret. 6. No recalls on the Cannon (at least not in NZ), maybe you are referring to a Steed? (there has been a metric f@%K tonne of recalls on rangers) 7. No issue from me, or any other NZ'ers that are part of the owners group. 8. I can beat a 2.0TD ranger, and 2.4TD triton in a standing 0-60 .. so ... this is not true. Also, towing is on par with what is written on the tin ( link2.nz/GWhlL ) What you failed to list is the crazy amount of haters, that will go out of there way to dis the Greatwall products. I have no idea why .. it's mental.

Look at the last Auzi ute drag test- the gwm came last" in black and white". Don't believe any article from gwm on Towing,simply put the Gwm is way down on performance. Regarding the 5 star rating in Nz ,this is not based on actual crash testing,this is still to be done ,do some research ,the 2021 test was cancelled due to covid ,the report you refer to is only feature based accounting. " not scientific at all ,to quote from your report - "Ratings are estimated from data on real crashes reported to police in Australia and New Zealand, and are updated annually." This is still a far cry from an actual Ancap rating. You need to look at it from all angles.

Bypass the ground in park to actual ground on it and u can use it while in motion ....for the kids 😏

@@loudas, regarding comparing the Gwm to a triton,absolutely incomparably,I know because I have owned a triton for 2 years towing a 2.5 tone boat. Look at the last Auzi ute drag test- the gwm came last" in black and white". Don't believe any article from gwm on Towing,simply put the Gwm is way down on performance.
Regarding the 5 star rating in Nz ,this is not based on actual crash testing,this is still to be done ,do some research ,the 2021 test was cancelled due to covid ,the report you refer to is only feature based accounting. " not scientific at all ,to quote from your report - "Ratings are estimated from data on real crashes reported to police in Australia and New Zealand, and are updated annually." This is still a far cry from an actual Ancap rating.
