Many quilters struggle with errors that can lead to frustrating results, whether it's misaligned seams or fabric choice issues. I've been there too, spending hours on a project only to realize that one small mistake has ruined the entire thing. It's disheartening, to say the least. But the good news is that these mistakes can be easily avoided with a little practice and patience. By recognizing the common pitfalls, you can take steps to prevent them and ensure your quilting projects turn out beautifully. And that's exactly what I will be covering in this video.

Hi Karen, I'm so happy to see you! Thank you for sharing your quilting knowledge with all of us. I may be gone for a while. Don't think I've left your channel! About an hour after I won your quilt, I got test results back. Have had dizziness and vertigo since end of June. I have to have surgery on both carotid arteries on both sides of my neck. See Neuro surgeon tomorrow afternoon to find out details. Wish me luck!❤❤

This is really odd. I too have been having dizziness and initially a vertigo episode, first week in June. Have seen neurologist and they see the movement in my eyes, so still think it is vertigo issues. But I don’t believe it is. Oh, I so wish I could talk with you.

Thank you for doing this topic. All of us had to learn one, more or all of these unspoken paths to our success the hard way. Then we found Karen's channel. I have been learning to quilt for a few years after making most of the 8 mistakes covered here today. That's the fun of learning isn't it? Freeing yourself from the "quilting snobbery" that lurks in many UA-cam channels is top drawer advice for all of us. Practicing the skills that Karen teaches in her tutorials using materials and designs that inspire you will help get you to the finished product you had in mind! Consider yourself on the right path to your personal quilting success if you are a subscriber to this channel!

Your pussy will want you to snuggle in that quilt before you hand it off to her or put it in her basket. Your smell is what brings pussy pleasure! That you are making it, that the quilt is brushing against you with your scent, and that your hands are stitching it are treat enough! So stop fearing that you are making the worse cot quilt for pussy when it comes to thread. I made a cot quilt for my friend's dog who took a liking to me. Upon unwrapping it at his birthday party, the corgi was so cheeky as to rip it from his pet's hand and run off with it! We, humans, had a good laugh as we ate corgi's cake and caught up on our going ons.

I learned to quilt from a dear older friend who has passed away. She saw me struggling and asked me what is frustrating me, I shared with her and she just said to me. 1. This is your quilt, make it as you please. & 2. There is no such thing as the quilting police. Do not let anyone tell you you MUST use this or that. Do not let someone point out your mistakes. That is rude and they are not trying to help you be a better quilt maker. If you love making them, you only need to know one piece of advice, look them right in their eyes, smile, and say I do not see a mistake in here. She was cool, I loved her, and I missed her everyday. We laughed a lot.

I'm in the UK, so good morning Karen ( I hope I heard your name correct in another of your video's)
Another great video, especially about the cotton's. As a newbie quilter, I bought my larger reels from Temu. I've found the white to be very good and quite strong, but the black for some reason not so good. Seeing what is said on other tutorials about cotton, I was beginning to feel inferior for not buying the so called correct cotton. Listening to you today has put my mind at rest, so I'll continue buying what I'm happy with and not what the experts recommend that we should use. I only came across you last week, so looking forward to watching your other video's 💞

The relaxed way is the best way, quilts are an art work and tiny mistakes are normal and only the artist is aware of them. Polycotton thread is stronger than cotton thread, and less expensive.

I have been quilting for over 25 yrs. I Always use a hot iron, but I press not iron. Never use a cool iron. Also use a clapper even to get the folds out. I appreciate your opinions. Yes squaring up each block is critical, also to have no waves always cut your borders on straight of grain. Measure your top thru middle cut your borders that size. They will fit and keep your quilt square and will lay flat and quilt without problems.
