My machine refused to drain. I removed the hose and the pump. Notice some grit under the washer gave it a good rinse, as well as the hose, and now it's working just fine. Gotta love UA-cam. Thanks for your help

Found a sock in my pump too. I couldn’t believe it. Thanks for taking the time to post a video. You saved my bacon. I thought I was going to be with out a washer for days while waiting for a part or a repair man.

I had the same problem, agitating / washing but not spinning and not draining. After watching this video, I looked at my pump and found the impellor was not spinning freely and the induction block was super hot. Took the pump assembly off the drum, then opened the housing and pulled out the impeller assembly. There was a bunch of gritty stuff preventing the impeller from turning. Rinsed it out in water until it spun freely and put it all back together. Now it is working! Thanks for the help!

Thanks dude my pump had sand in it. Not even a lot just enough to keep it from spinning freely. I took it apart and cleaned it the best I could couldn’t get the impeller out, I didn’t wanna snap it by prying on it but I was able to rinse out all the sand and good to go. Don’t know if it’ll last forever but works for now thats all I really needed.

gonna sound like another "same here" but honestly, SAME HERE. Washer was not draining. Was about to buy an $85 pump, and decided to check more videos and found yours. Low and behold, wife's sneaker lace trapped in the pump motor! Got it out and works like a charm. Thanks so much for this 2 min video. Probably rates out at thousands of dollars per hour!

I truly appreciate this video because I was able to figure it out tonight. We had found the rest of the belt that goes under the tumbler lid as it had snapped a couple months back. Finally replaced the top with a new cover which also included the rubber seal and vuala !! Washer machine is fixed.

Thsnk you!!!! Between one wash and the next, washer had a humming sound but wouldn't spin or drain. Looked for this first. Just pulled a sock out of the pump on our GE washer. Working now! Best clue was the humming sound. Socks to be washed in net bag from now on.

funny how dish washers and clothes washers suffer so often from this common problem (not socks necessarily, but blockages in the pump). Have pulled out my dishwasher numerous times before finally got that pump issue resolved, and now it's or fairly new clothes washer not draining. Thanks for your vid. Think I'll bring the car floor jack in to raise the washer and hold it up 0r maybe a jack stand... since the kids are all grown and gone, can't have them lay there like cinder blocks anymore (jk). Thanks, new sub.

If you’ll the front panel off, I found a helpful diagnostic chart in a pouch. You can find error codes and operate the pumps and agitator to test them as well as other things. Mine was full of water so I used this chart to drain the tub. Of course a sock in the drain is a whole different issue

My model is GTW500ASN0WS, serial LR999206G, and I’m probably looking at electrical damage underneath from a basement flooded and got a foot tall of water that affected the bottom part of the washer. I’m trying to figure out would need to be replaced? I opened and closed the lids six times I unplugged the machine for a minute, I press the buttons for the wash cycle it makes a noise, but then it does not show the fill button light, gyrates for a second, and does not jet water out and then makes the finish button noise three minutes later

Nice save! I guess that plastic bottle is better than half a loaf of Wonder bread but not in my tool belt. Rumor has it that this is where most socks escape to in these modern times. I know some of you are saying the dryer enables this sort of behavior but No! It's the washer most every time.
