Ross Dam in Washington State had an incline plane like that, and I was able to go up with a group of people about 60 years ago but no longer is used and as of now I do not know it still exist. Our group went up first and then the bus came up after us. Last time I was on the Ross Dam Tour it wasn't being used but was still present.

What a lovely day! Yeah, a little tricky mooring with such a big audience, I bet! I loved seeing the lock volunteers letting the kids help with the locks....a lesson they won't soon forget, I'm sure.
Hallo to you 2 and of course George. It was lovely to see foxton locks again. I originate from near the town of Uppingham in the county of Rutland....about 14 miles away. When we were kids in the late 1950s early 60s we used to bike across there and be gongoozelers.. Now when we are in the UK on holiday I go there as often as possible. I now live near Düseldorf and have done for nearly 50 years. I have subscribed to your channel and have watched your flogs from Nr. 1...I have also clicked on the bell so that I get notifications when you upload a new video.
So glad you're enjoying them! Düsseldorf has its own charms, I'm sure, but always nice to get back to the places of childhood memory. Except for me. There's really nothing in that part of Oklahoma to go back to. ;-) M
Hi folks, lovely informative video. I have spent many an afternoon at Foxton, after dining at the Inn, very nice place. I did like your explanation of the Incline Plain. I always stayed at Husbands Bosworth, so know the area well. Several visits in the past 12 years from NZ. Fantastic UK.Thank you.
Hi Jo and Micheal,& George of course .. Fabulous to meet and chat at Crick , Micheal the Maliverous and the Charming Jo Caught up with the N E. girls Monday. The offer about ref Ironbridge Gorge is always open when you get this way . Stay safe V&B
Minimal List ref diesel fires for boat check out reflek diesel stoves, David Cruising the cut did a vlog on stoves way back worth looking at . Note a lot of the boats at crick we views had Refleks. We will follow your deliberations AND I can spell Michael when not tired post drive home sorry.
Hi guys. I have just found this vlog, I must have missed it when you put it on UA-cam back in may. When I lived in the UK as a kid I was very often a gongoozler there….as me and my parents lived about 10 miles away….now when we visit friends and relations in the area I always have to go there a couple of times to get my narrow boat fix.
More beautiful country side, you feed my soul on a rainy day. We visited 7 of the 9 Locks on the Champlain Canal system in New York yesterday on our way home from Lake George. Horrible day for boating it was a constant drizzle or light rain. Didn't let that stop me and I did get to see 1 boat pass through the lock, which was thrill. Does that now make me a gongoozler now? .
Past along George's TV show to all our family. They all love George. I do have a suggestion. Invite your viewers to come for Virtual Tea & Toast. We have found during our lockdown we go for coffee more often now (Virtually) with friends. Like David and his cheese sandwiches. You cannot imagine the huge difference between our Cheddar cheese and what you have available to you in the UK "REAL" Cheddar Cheese Yum. We can bring (Virtual) Real Maple Syrup!! ha Ha Just a thought.
I flinched when you got your phone out as I lost mine in the canal last week. As a result I didn't get to see you at Crick as I had to come home to sort out a replacement.Oh well, at least the weather has been great.
Ouch! Hope the replacement was too expensive! And yeah, I flinch too when I think about how easily we could send them to the bottom, never to be seen again. M
Don't know if it's true, but a lock volunteer at Foxton once told me that regarding the red/white sequence of opening/closing paddles, if you get it wrong you could feasibly flood the Inn at the bottom😮
The engineering involved to make something like the incline plane is amazing back in the day. We have a lift lock here at Peterborough Ontario Canada that also uses the balance principle of 2 tubs of water to minimize the “horsepower” needed to cycle the system. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peterborough_Lift_Lock
It wasn't the worst engine noise, by far, it's just our microphone really seems to accentuate it sometimes. This one came out okay though. Sometimes we've had to scrap entire recordings because of it. Sigh. M
I've seen these locks before and they look tedious without the volunteers. Can you do them without the volunteers? Incline plane was another great feat of engineering.
Yes, most locks are self service. I’d love to see an incline plane. They may be building one in Runcorn to link the Bridgewater Canal with the Manchester Ship Canal
You guys have done quite a lot of the old canal network now, only the north and the Llangollan to do really, i'm going to miss you two and these bloggs when you're done you know. Still, at least i've taught Michael a thing or two about Rooks, ha, ha, ha," Rooks Michael Rooks not Crows". I look forwards to your next, much, thanks guys.
@@MinimalList is this a joke? or is it doable? I've been dreaming about the European canals it would be amazing to make it there under your own steam so to speak...
It's more or less a joke, as Jo wouldn't let me even if we could get insurance for the attempt. It is potentially doable, on a VERY calm day, but it's probably safer and arguably cheaper -- considering one off insurance, logistics, etc) to have the boat craned onto a lorry and driven over. Still, I'd be happy to try it, but I think I'd be overridden by the boss. M
@@MinimalList there is an account online where a couple and their dog made the crossing it sounds pretty hairy with the ferry's making waves but what an adventure 😂

Oh my, we got to see Joe walk at normal speed twice today how unique. Great video!
That’s like half her normal speed! M

Another great video. With very funny bloopers! Neighbours!! Thanks.
Hehe, always funny bloopers with Michael about. Jo

The T-shirt collection is quite entertaining...
It's all from TeePublic, several by a friend of mine. They're not for everyone, but they're pretty cool. M

Thanks for showing my favorite lock flight. First time up in the rain other times in beautiful weather.
Glad we got one of the good weather versions ourselves! M
Excellent vlog guys.

We will definitely look at the Reflecks as well, though it doesn't appear to have the cooktop for Jo's slow cooking that the Bubble has. M
Oh, good to know that it does though! We don't want to lose the cooking option, as it's just too nummy! M
Looks fun, thanks for the vlog.

that's quite a paint job at 0:06!
Yeah, that ones pretty trippy, and obviously done with a lot of love (and stencils)! M
excellent vlog, where there is a Lidl, there is croissants! finally tried them..yum yum :-)

That was a [even more] fun one to watch :) "But it's not a real boat" lol
Ahh, the wisdom of little boys! M
This was the first video I noticed that Michael's hat has a chinstrap!
Had to think a bit, but its a Rango teeshirt. Nice. x
Hah, no, almost, but not quite. That one's Frog and Loathing in Los Vegas! It's Kermit as Johnny Depp as Hunter S Thompson... a bit meta that one. M
Wow, with the scraggy neck it really looks looks Rango. Good one. x.
Brill vlog 😎

Luckily when we went through Foxton we had a lockie helping us!
Well done doing Fiction on a bank holiday weekend. Think we'll leave it to a soggy Tuesday in November. Great vlog. X
That was Foxton 😉
Fiction or Foxton, we probably should have thought it through ahead of time! ;-) M
Interesting, as usual especially the Anderton Boat lift, is that its name? Glad you shared the Foxton Flight Guys.
Really looking forward to the Anderton Boat Lift, but that ones still quite a long way from here. And unlike the inclined plane, still operational! M
Hmmm, I wonder what the vernacular for the funicular was back in the day . .
I'm guessing it was "fernicular", or possibly "that damned train on that damned angle!". M
Squeeeeeeeeek! Yikes
Yep! Grease man!
Minimal List Ed, or someone, installed some sacrificial material to reduce the noise. Seems like it worked fairly well and less likely smear on stuff.
