My 500hp turbo bug, wheelied the whole 1/4 on 6ft double tubed wheelie bars! 9.80s at 155 back in 1990

I'd love to learn more about rear suspension set ups in cars like this. My 73 only has a single carbed 1853, running a solid motor mount. I fabbed the stock rubber trans mount into a solid mount because everything aftermarket I tried broke on hard launches, bending the heck out of the shift tube and broke the nose cone on the transaxle once. After replacing the nose cone and building a cromoly shift tube it all seems to hold up pretty good. But I don't dare run it with a sticky tire or run a bigger engine like I plan on, before I figure out what to do with with the rear suspension.
I raced in the early 70s.
Chrome moly shift rod, solid motor mounts, beefed up differential and a line lock were some of what we had success with. The line lock allowed us to preload the trans and diff before launching.
That was 48 years ago.
Probably newer and better technology today.
We were able to run 12.91 with a 1752 cc motor carrying 15lbs of weight per cubic inch of motor (107 inches).

it ran a 7.10 in the 1/8 & 11.84 in the 1/4 back then, the car now has a best et of 6.61 in the 1/8, haven't been back to the 1/4 mile track yet, there are newer videos under our profile with et posted.

Thank you, yes, this was originally a friend of ours bug that we built the engine, did the install and I did the driving when at the track, last year we worked out a deal and now the car is ours, still at our shop going through a bit of changes hoping to get it out again very soon.

your spot on, this car had a tall 4rth in it at that race and right when I dropped it into 4rth, the other car pocked out right in front, we've changed the gears right after the race, nothing too short, just more inline with 3rd but have only been to the 1/8th mile tracks since then, cars best time now is 6.61 @ 106mph in the 1/8th

How do you measure Bhp on a transaxle?
We’ve dynoed our turbo set up many times on both wheel & engine dynos, this car has made 440hp@ the rear wheels, that would definitely be at least 500@the crank
