HOW TO CONTROL BED BUGS (5 STEP PROCESS)
There is a large selection of products that are labeled for use to kill bed bugs, however what is important to remember in the DIY pest control industry, is that the product does not matter as much as the application for success in killing bed bugs. The reason professionals are able to successfully kill bed bugs with chemicals like bed bugs killer spray is because they know the proper application methods and areas. Certain products are created specifically to be applied in certain ways and on certain types of surfaces. By following our 5 step process to eliminate bed bugs we offer a 100% guarantee that your home or office will be bed bug-free in no time.
Step 1: The first step to bed bug treatment from your home is to first research the primary and secondary areas where the bed bug infestation is residing and then engage in physical or mechanical means of control. This involves vacuuming up the majority of the bed bugs you can visibly see. You will want to use either a bagged vacuum or a canister vacuum (clean and sanitize immediately after). Vacuum all the primary areas where bed bugs infest which include mattress, box spring, bed frame, headboard, and any luggage racks you may have.
The secondary areas of control include nightstands, chairs, luggage areas, baseboards, sconces, electrical areas, and wall decor or curtains. Any crack and crevice should be vacuumed. By implementing this important step, you remove the adults and some eggs providing a bit of immediate relief. Disassembling furniture is also recommended along with washing and drying all clothing and quarantining clothing from the area by placing them in bags. As an extra measure we recommend heat treating your home with abed bug steamer on your carpeting and mattress.
Step 2: Once the initial measures of bed bug treatment from step 1 are carried out, you can now move onto chemical treatment. Solutions Pest & Lawn recommends splitting the treatment areas into primary and secondary areas of treatment as noted above. We recommend using a combination of chemical products which includes insecticides and dusts. When it comes to insecticide concentrates, you have multiple options to choose from such as non-repellent bed bug control products like Phantom Insecticide or a fast killing chemical bed bug spray called Flex 10-10 Insecticide. This product is first mixed at a rate of 6.4oz/gal and applied as a broadcast spray over the entire room surface; floors, bed frames, mattress, box spring, furniture.
You will want to add a growth regulator, such asGentrol, after you spray the mattress to ensure long term control. (Gentrol is not labeled for mattress application) It is also important to treat adjacent rooms, hallways, and other furniture in the home/business with a preventative spray so the insects are not transferred between areas.
Step 3: After the chemical dries, go back and treat the inaccessible cracks and crevices with D-Fense Dust or Alpine Dust. This product can reach those tough to reach areas that liquid sprays can not reach. Apply the dust under the baseboards, electrical outlets, light switches, under the bed frame legs, etc. This dust will provide a long term (7 month+) residual that will prevent stragglers from re-infesting the area. Treating the primary and secondary areas of the home should be done regularly for long-term control. Primary areas should be treated every 6 months or twice a year. Secondary treatments should be done once a year or every 12 months.
Step 4: After treatment is complete, measures like using bed bug covers and encasements are recommended to mattress covers to prevent bed bugs from reinfesting sensitive areas and lessen the risk of their return. Place mattress and box spring encasements over all beds in the building and leave in place for at least a year as bed bugs can live without taking a blood meal for up to 1 year.
Step 5: Make sure to follow-up periodically to assess results of your bed bug treatment and whether it has been effective in killing the bed bug infestation. Carefully inspect those infested primary and secondary areas especially after either a person has visited the home or you have been traveling out of the state or out of the country.

I got them traveling. On a 14 day road trip. I freaked out and was angry looking to kill somebody. Out of desperation I called a pest control company. They quoted me almost 5k for a heat treatment. When cooler heads prevailed, I hunkered down. Declutter, clean, vacuumed twice a day. Steam, steam and steam some more. Good thing I posses a commercial vapor cleaner. Also used an iron and a spray bottle of water. Saturate an area and go over with the iron, the water turned to steam. Go slow and be patient. I did this during a heat wave and I was in a sauna. Encase your mattress and box spring. Spray with crossfire and dust with Cimexa. Repeat in about two weeks with the crossfire. The war was won in less than a week. Now I spray crossfire quarterly and dust twice a year.

Am wondering about the vacuum. I've read that unless they have a HEPA filter vacs all spew dust into the air. So wondering then- wouldn't it spray eggs around some? Is it possible to clean a vacuum thoroughly inside??

    • @68sgstandard
      @68sgstandard Рік тому +1

The eggs are not so tiny that they would pass through a vacuum cleaner bag. Vacuum cleaner bags are supposed to allow only air to pass through, but trap everything else, including dust, of course.
The eggs will get trapped in a vacuum cleaner bag. But the bag needs to be removed immediately after you finish vacuuming, and then sealed in a plastic bag and thrown into the trash dumpster immediately. The vacuum cleaner HOSE could possibly hold some eggs. So, it would be good to maybe spray a bed bug spray into the end of the hose while the vacuum is turned on, to suck the spray through the hose - perhaps? I'm just thinking. Or, if the hose is plastic or vinyl, one could wash it through with a powerful flow of water like from a garden hose outside.

Bedbugs don't care if you're rich or poor.
It doesn't matter if you keep an immaculate house, because you're at risk of carrying one back home everytime you leave your house.
To the everage person it is costly to hire an exterminator. It's also expensive to buy everything you need to get rid of them yourself, not to mention it is a lot of work over a long period of time.
The worst hit are the ones who can least afford it because places such as public and low income housing rarely hire professional exterminators and they hire inexperienced building managers. And if course tenants can't afford to buy everything necessary to get rid of them. Most can barely afford to live there.
I guess my point is please don't judge those dealing with a bedbug situation. It is a nightmare.
It cost us over $1400 for an exterminator service and we did most of the work ourselves. We moved ever single item out to the backyard. After spraying everything we covered/sealed it all in black plastic and let it sit out in the desert sun (100+°) for two weeks. Washed or steamed all clothes and anything with cloth. Vacuumed, scrubbed, and vacuumed over and over again. Everything was inspected and wiped down and vacuumed before bringing each item back inside. Oh, we also slept on sealed mattresses on metal cots on cot islands (surrounded with diatomaceous earth.) Everyone showered and washed clothes a couple times daily. It took months. That happened about 3 years ago.
Like I said, please don't judge, and if you suspect you have them... get going right away because it gets worse and more costly every day.
    Good luck. 🤍

Bedbugs can kill only with heat if you have heat gun (something like hair dryer but much stronger) start to heat every single corner of baseboard and bed frame mattress just remember to move your hand frequently otherwise you can make a fire, only high heat can kill the eggs that's why this method is %100 if you do this truly I guarantee your house should be free of bedbugs,I did this and I don't have bedbugs any more if you live in apartment complex ask your Nighbour to do the same .

Have had an infestation before and probably dealing with one now, so wanted to give a tip about doing your self-inspection of your house: be VERY thorough. Use a flashlight or other bright light, and look VERY closely. Do not move your gaze too quickly, because I've found you can miss telltale signs that way. Sometimes blood/feces specks look just like a piece of dirt on the floor, and vice versa. Otherwise you take the risk of thinking you have nothing, and assuming that you've got off scot-free. a good thing to look for though is blood spots on your mattress and/or pillow. That is an almost for-sure sign. You almost don't even have to look for anything beyond that, if you find those, if you are just trying to confirm you have the bugs.

Is it possible to use the gentrol product without the flex 1010? Or is the gentrol also a type of pesticide as I have cats and don't want to harm them when trying to treat the bed bugs

    • @solutionspestandlawn

Yes you can use Gentrol without Flex 10-10, but be aware that Gentrol alone does not have any direct 'killing' effect on adult bed bugs. It'll just make it so affected developing bed bugs won't reach reproductive maturity and will die out. Be sure to read the product's label for specific mix rates and application directions. Back in the 80's i travelled with the carnivals until i met a woman and quit the shows. Never had an issue with bedbugs. Fast forward to 2008-2015. Divorced and back with carnivals. Bedbugs in every bunkhouse. I dealt with them for a few years on 3 different carnivals. Brought in by the south of the border seasonal help. Nasty critters. I kept my clothes in black garbage bags up on the roof of the little bunkhouse i was in because the heat inside the bags killed them. I would also put my bedding in a bag for the day and place in sunlight. I slept in an empty trailer at night to keep away from the little buggers. If you ever go to a carnival and play the games beware of any stuffed animals that you win. If the show has an infestation of bedbugs then they will probably be on the stuffed animal prizes also. No more carny life for me. Bugs ran me off!

After several nights of being bit we researched online. My husband decided to use his propane heater and hvac thermometer to heat every room in this house to the temperature of hell. He did this every week for 3 months. I vacuumed, enclosed all mattresses and flushed outlets. It worked for a couple years with no sign of bb's but unfortunately here we go again... up tonight after getting bit. Does this ever end?

    • @camelCased
      @camelCased 2 роки тому +1

You have to think about where they came from. Usually, two years is enough for all of them to starve, if you did not let them feed on you. If you did not have any bites nor any bugs in your bed leg monitors (you can buy them or make them yourself), for two years and now suddenly they are back, someone might have brought them to you. If you live in an apartment, they can come from your neighbors and the fight will never end unless the entire building is cleaned out.

This is actually one of the best videos I've seen in regards to bed bug treatment and prevention. I've had bed bugs on and off for the past several years.
Eventually I had to hire professional exterminators. They're extremely difficult to get rid of on your own. It's possible, but only recommended if you have a small infestation. I tried doing it with a combination of steam, pesticide, and DE Powder, but they always came back with avengeance!
For any infestation medium to large, it's recommended to hire an exterminator. It took 4 treatments and they killed them all over the course of a couple months with Temprid FX. No more bed bugs now.
Those exterminators gave me my peace of mind back. And now I have similar equipment with Temprid FX, just in case they ever come back.
Btw Crossfire is supposed to be even better! But I couldn't get it in my state, so Temprid FX was the second best option. And yes, Crossfire and Temprid FX continue killing after being sprayed!

And to anyone suffering from a bed bug issue. Please do make sure you clean and declutter your room. Vacuum, get mattress encasements, and keep your bed away from the wall or other furniture.
Make sure your blanket and other sheets don't touch the floor, and put interceptors with DE Powder under your bed legs. Fighting bed bugs is a war of attrition. And you're in it for the long haul. Good luck.

@@NookTommy They are more likely in the seats and people. But if you place luggege where people normally sit, they will crawl on it looking for a meal. Once they feast they move quickly back to their home in I believe an average of 6 minutes or so. Thus they are probably more likely to be carried off a bus seat or park bench than from a bed or long flight - where they had a chance to get back off you. If you get up in that 6 minute period, you are carrying them with you. And they really target places people lay or sit (except in very highly contaminated sites).

I find that several majority of the bugs off under the box spring and actually Less on the mattress so make sure that you look underneath and then you have to throw out everything the bed the mattress and the box spring and the frame of the bed everything related to that bed must get out and it must be wrapped in plastic and a skimpy job done by oneself is not equipped to travel is Journey against these ugly infecting ticks fortunately I have not had an incident with a bunk bed and then you must keep up on it in several following treatments you must remove the matches you cannot Salvage anyting the mattress the box spring in the frame all must go thank you very much
