They can't climb smooth plastic surfaces. You can use strips of the smoothest shipping tape to keep them from climbing furniture. Think of that when designing and setting barriers. At some point they can't get to you and will eventually die off without much other effort.
I rented some heaters. Sprayed the edges of the room to make a barrier. Thank goodness we had mattress covers that stop bugs. Put all laundry in trash bags. It was kids room. Bought a steamer and 2 space heaters. Turned the car onto an oven w space heaters(cooked all couch cushions) steamed most of carpet and all furniture. Its been about a month. No signs yet
aureliomanalo Lmao I laughed so hard at this. That's almost what it sounds like. Diatomaceous Earth food grade. Powder duster to make a fine mist. Grab yourself a dust mask, spray the fuck out of whatever room one at a time. Let it settle before breathing normally. Vaccum and clean up 2 or 3 times a week and repeat. You'll see less and less overtime. The easiest way without having to excessively use your spare time is you're like me and work many hours and days and don't really have the money for more expensive stuff.
I'm catching the bed bugs, sticking them in a piece of tissue putting them in a metal trash can and lighting the tissue on fire. While this may not get rid of them in their entirety, it is extremely satisfying to do. I only wish the bed bugs would scream in pain and horror as they start to burn. Oh well. I will just continue to imagine the screaming while I smile and giggle as I look down on their burning corpses. (It should be obvious at this point to see that I have a rather severe hatred of bed bugs.)

A multi use steam cleaner and a vaccum works best in my experience. It's the only thing that has been able to kill them and the eggs. Heat treatment is the best way.

I bought a McCullough. I alternated steaming one day then vacuuming the next. I find the little round nozzle works best. Haven't seen any bugs but still treat about once every 2 weeks just for my own sanity!
I literally starved them. I wore vicks vapor rub all over every night for about 6 months (they can go for about 5 months without feeding) and then i stopped just to see what happened and I never got bitten again. It's really so simple. They will not come near you if you are slathered in vicks vapor rub lol It is a 6 month commitment but it works to starve them to death and it's way easier and cheaper than doing all that other stuff! adult bed bugs can live over a year without eating. And starving them can encourage them to seek out new food sources which may be your spouse, kids, etc.
The only facts I need to worry about is the FACT that my method worked for me. You can starve them to death. I doubt they can go a year without feeding and still live. It's probably a website that is geared toward fear mongering in order to help the pest control business. I went to several sites that ALL said the average time a bedbug can go without feeding is 3 to 5 months. And given that my method of using vicks for 6 months ended EVERYTHING, I tend to believe those sites that I used. You look really stupid trying to argue with someone who tried something that WORKED. IT WORKED. PERIOD.
Apprehend is the only thing besides heat that will kill them. Of course you have to call an exterminator. Usually $325 per room. De Clutter De clutter De clutter. They like to get in box springs the best if in bed room, living rooms they infest couches, love seats etc. Take ALL your clothes and put them in the dryer on high heat for At Least 45 minutes Take clothes out put them in large lawn size garbage bags... twist twist twist top than tie it in one solid knot very tight solid knot. Do not drag it and puncture the bag. Just get a new cheap laundry basket put ur cleaned laundered Straight outta the dryer clothes and towels ur gonna use for a couple of wks in the new basket Store it in ur bath tub for at least a month. Do NOT sit it in the floor when bath tub is n use. Sit it across the sink or top of closed toilet lid. Take and wash all curtains store n the a sealed trash bags after treatment Just clean clean clean Dont forget you may suck up the eggs in the vacuum cleaner. Purses Jackets hanging on the living room hook etc Clean everything Then call an exterminator that carries Apprehend Go on their site n theres a link for all exterm that are certified to use their product Go to the Apprehend web site and read Duke university discovered the natural fungal spore that kills them in 4-10 days and the spores survive for 3 months BB crawl through it n get them on them also the bb then spreads it to other bb and kills em all. Cool ck it out. My daughter got BB and we found out and RESEARCHED it on their site and also clicked on their site to locate an Exterminator that is licensed n qualified to apply it. It wasnt cheap BUT it wasnt to expensive. AND it killed them. So just ck it out and make an informed decision before spending a penny bc so many “claims” are out there. When you say it was not too expensive...how much is that? This is my second go round, I killed all of them the first time with DE. This time I have been steaming, spreading DE and vacuuming, washing and it is 3 months later, I threw out the sofa and chair and still have them...I do not know what is up this time! I had bedbugs. I treated them. I saw dead bugs in the corner of a kitchen counter. Humm, interesting. I had carpet beetles too. The house is wall to wall shag carpet. Had tropical rat mites in the past. Looks like all of that is finally gone. Tempo SC ultra and Permethrin 10 took care of all that. I live by myself. The fumes of this stuff was horrible. It actually made my eyes and cheeks burn for a couple of days. I did leave for 6 hours and do several rooms at a time. The whole house was done in 4 days. Tempo doesn't recommend floors being treated, but all the carpet was sprayed. It suggests crack & crevice only. I have sensitive electronics and musical instruments. I did not want to use any type of foggers. This worked, but it irritated me for about a week. Follow ups if necessary can be done at half strength. So far, I haven't seen any returning bugs.

I have lavender, I'm into essential oils. But there is so Little on the Internet about this. Just says they don't like it. Please help. I have taken some with me unknowingly from another place, it was very stressful, but did not realize until day before moving to new place that they were begbugs. I left furniture except my 4-5 wicker pieces. I heated and kept my clothes in begs, but they have re-appeared.

You know what I learned from this video. If you get them then your totally screwed. Throw clothes in dryer. Store them in plastic bags after out of dryer. What a way to live.
She's not saying "don't" use, she's saying, don't "use" incorrectly! Firstly, what works in Florida wont work in Michigan, as well as, apartment complexes versus a house. I've never even seen one until a person came to stay and 2 weeks later (I have a dog who went back and forth from their room to mine) I saw a bug crawling on my bed. I covered it, had him come identify what it was, and i won't go into detail any further as to what took place regarding that incident! I research everything, first needing to know everything about this bug, everything about what kills them, and finally, where I was regarding infestation. I know getting whigged out would cloud my rational thinking but take it from me, not whigging out is the hardest part of a bed bug problem. By whigged out I mean, creepy crawly feelings, imagined itching and the very few instances that send your ass whirling out of your mind, seeing one. I have seen 4. I have not looked for them on my matresses after intuitionally knowing to get the covers. I wouldnt go there. Whether you look or not, COVER your matress' period. Every matress. I bought matress covers for my couch and loveseat. Duct tape the zippered end! That my friends is step one! (IF YOU HAVE AN INFESTATION WHERE YOU SEE THEM WITHOUT HAVING TO LOOK, YOUR SCREWED, CALL AN EXTERMINATOR) Until you know the schedule of your bed bug (which they mostly come out in the dark, hence bug 2, they can and will adapt to your schedule. I am on third shift as you can tell by the time stamp! By now you should know what rooms are harboring these bloodsucking ****ers cause your vacuuming at least 2 times a day immediately disposing of the canisters contents. If you dont have a bagless vacuum, I suggest that be the next item to spend your money on! Continuing on, foggers and sprays. I bought black flag bed bug aerosol spray and Adams mist spray (only at Walmart) and Adams foggers. I have not used the foggers again knowing the bugs you'd know that they'll pretty much stay where they are comfortable and can feed. Foggers I deduced would make them go into the walls and scatter hiding where they can hide. You dont want that. This is what she means by "dont" use. Bug 3 and Black flag. Yeah, it killed on contact after dousing it and leaving a wet circle of spray that made me cough, couldnt spray it all over like on carpet and around baseboards, on furniture..... the smell makes you cough, not good at all for your pets! Don't "use" aerosol Bed bug sprays. And finally, still vacuuming 2 times a day (yes, you have to make it a second job and diligence is control) Adams mist spray, is by far the best I have used. Before going to bed I do a vacuum and I am down to 5 days before I get a bite if at all, I will do a complete spray of carpet and around baseboards, inside closets for good measure, etc. I cant say they are gone cause bug 4 was so tiny, but it bit me for its first and its only time before I killed it. Bugs 1 and 3 were almost adults, bug 2 was a teenager so to speak, and bug 4 as I stated above. That my friends is where Im at today. Her don'ts she explained as best she could. As a person who has them, I think I explained better!?! I hope my comment is helpful. And one more thing, sometimes we cant get to the dtore right away..... baking soda around the bed, alcohol for immidiate spray, and they cant stand tea tree oil, lavender oil, peppermint oil any of these you can line the outer edges of your matress' and on your feet cause they will live in carpets, hence the vacuuming, and I have put oils on my foot and ankles and rubbed it on my dogs! Thank you for being my only reply and question! I never had another bed bug. It's been over a year as I recall that nightmare, and I am proud to say, I have no bed bugs! Those were the only bed bugs I seen. After a year, I removed the covers from my furniture, vacuumed all the baking soda out while looking for any dead bugs and proud to say, I seen no bugs. Whether those were the only ones or there were more and they died elsewhere, I hope to never know! Of all the money I spent on foggers, sprays, oils, etc. - Adam's spray (non aerosol) and baking soda were the best weapons against bed bugs. Your timing, diligence and immediate action with the right weapons not only took care of the bed bugs before they could infest, but there's not an insect in my house! I still am at the same house obviously! The amount of soda, length of time it's left in your carpet, your mental and physical condition must be in control and fight mode cause you will be at war! I was the terminator for real! 😆 And I believe I really did have those 4 and I won! I also believe I was more anal than a normal person should ever have to be, but I don't have any bug problems. I recently had a pipe burst in the crawl space and I went into freak mode cause I envisioned an army of silverfish, ear wigs, centipedes, spiders, and any other damp dwelling bugs invading the inside of my house! Adam's spray is my go to! It lasts up to two weeks. I haven't had to spray twice!

so i recently got bed bugs and been killing them with DE, i was looking all over the net how to get rid of them, i came across this one site where it says if you cover yourself like a burrito with a rather large blanket it could help them to not feed on you since they wouldn't like to do much work. I also put gloves on my hand's high socks and a beenie at night over my head. I tuck in my pjs and pants legs in my socks and i tie my hair back and rub Vicks and put de next to the couch while i sleep, it seems to work some nights. but Vicks does help with them not really biting but i pull down the beenie on my nose and it does seem them to not come to attack me as much as before we also got rid of the carpets but before i put de everywhere and it worked. I also went out to get those childproof outlet covers and put de inside so if they come out they would be covered in that stuff. I also painted the plate around the outlet so it can get stuck or they wouldn't be able to get out through those plate things. i got rid of my dresser and will get something with a medal so it would make things easier for me to catch them. i also warped my mattresses in a heavy tarp with shipping tape that is strong. the box springs and I inspect them each week i make sure they're not going on the seems of the bed. I put de on the frames of the bed and put the mattress on top so if they squeeze through they would have to go through that stuff. i will not rest till i have rest.. i have also painted my room, they hate the smell. and paint your furniture, i heard the first thing people do when they get a house is a paint, it kills germs and such because they don't like the smell and seels the bugs in the holes. if you have an apartment just paint the walls the same color and it could help

Yep I had them and bought a gallon bottle of Green Bean bug killer and it indeed get rid of them. I did however stay in my little camper for a few months then sprayed and remained out so no food for them. then returned to my domain and saw the ones I did see were very sluggish and I resprayed a perimeter around my bed. They are totally gone after a few months. I have my home back
I could not work out where the bed bugs were coming from so I set up my phone to record and I found they were living in the carpet and they were appearing and disappearing as if the carpet was water, even though my carpet is not that thick but i also had a shag rug beside the fire again i set up the camera and to my horror it was like watching zombies in the living dead they were not one inch of the rug that was not without the bed bugs, I rolled up the expensive rug and put it outside for the bin man but a refugee walked by and snatched it which worries me as kids may be playing on that infestation
They were in your carpet? That sounds like a horror story. I didn't think about recording with my phone. Might have to try that as I also have no clue where they are coming from or have visual confirmation of them yet.
What about carbon dioxide traps ? If the carbon dioxide trap is near the bed (basically fermenting yeast with a tube connected to a dish bugs cannot climb out again) then it provides an attraction to a false host as the bugs are attracted to CO2 ?

before I researched this problem more thoroughly I was going to try 6 kerosene heaters, 2 on each floor--big house!! Well, the lab tech in me asked what was the flash point of kerosene!! I could have blown up the house. That would settle that.
Dr. Jones is definitely of wisdom; I really wish that I had her help in April 2019 when my ex-landlord wielded my mom as a mouthpiece to order me out of my apartment in Leon Valley. No written quit notice (which is REQUIRED by the Texas Property Code!!!), no moral objection, no legal objection, no ethical objection, no logistical objection . . . no nothing was done on my behalf. Among what I left behind was my Super Nintendo Entertainment System that I had since I was a kid . . . argh, I am so mad about this!!! I was working toward civilian motor authority so that I could hire a U-Haul truck to transport out my stuff in one fell swoop instead of making multiple trips through municipal transit because I knew that it was a matter of time before a treacherous landlord would chase me out. What really angers me is that my ex-landlord could have posted a notice for me to come to the office and talked with me like an adult about the problem. My ex-landlord could have called for a moving van and pulled some strings to lodge me at one of its sister complexes complete with the protocols to de-bug my stuff -- aka basic human decency. It goes a long way. Needless to say, I have a very frigid relationship with my mom and dad because of this; as soon as I find a smartphone that is at least a match for my Kyocera E6560, I am turning in my resignation letter to them both. After suffering bedbugs for months, I finally found salvation through lightly dusting all their hiding places with diatomaceous earth (non-edible version). It's truly the most effective solution, and cheap too.

It says that this is amorphous diatomaceous earth known as Silicon dioxide and an attractant. It doesn't say what the attractant is? Did you do anything else? Of course I will thoroughly clean bed, vacuum everything, do the sockets too with this earth. I'm also going to buy a bed cover for bedbugs. I did my clothes (heated in dryer 40 minutes at high), don't want to do this now though. I'm sprinkling it on my wicker furniture as well. Please help with any other advise about this earth that you have, thanks. I may have to find the "pure" stuff.

Carmen Lugo my brother came to stay with me for a week and now i have them its not bad yet i have only found about ten but man they are tuff lil bastards i spent 160 on a kit that has the diatomatious earth and 5 kinds of spray bed bug proof matress covers but the come backe every few days
vacuum every day and read on how to get rid of them. My goddaughter had to throw her couch set away and we haven't been bit since. I've been staying with her for 2 months and haven't slept at home but I checked the traps and there were a lot in them. I've changed the liquid twice and both time quite a few in trap. the next step if I get bit again is to clean every corner of the house and steam clean the furniture. Please keep in touch!
Carmen Lugo we dont have carpet to vacuum we fliped the bed and sprayed and did the diatomatious earth and put the liner on the mattress. i striped the fabric off of the box springs no sign of a big colony but every time we spray we get 1 or 2 dead ones

@@m.d.d4250 Yes, yes I did! Diametric earth powder from home depot. I put on a face mask n just powdered the entire freakin apt, closet's, drawers, clothes - everything!! I know is not safe to breathe - but I had no choice. Anyway, I saw them day after day come out w/ the powder all over them lol. They don't die right away w/ the powder but a few days later they just explode from the inside out. Especially between the wood panel floors - I packed it so that u only saw white powder between the cracks ... the next day I saw the powder was like blown out - them trying to push up n get out. I saw them crawling on the walls w/ getting away w/ powder on them. It took almost 3 weeks for me to finally not see anymore. But seeing the white powder on them was very satisfying, I must admit.
How? It was confusing and hopeless. “Don’t get rid of your furniture.” She didn’t know how to express if you get rid of your furniture tear it up so no one else can use it. This was not helpful. A true impractical academic expressing the indestructible nature of the little beasts.
I had bed bugs where I used to live, no chance of getting rid of them. My mattress and mattress cover was covered in bed bug shit, and dried blood spots. Those buggers are nearly impossible to get rid off. I would turn my bed inside out, kill any with spray that I saw, I had interceptors at the bottom of the bed legs. I have moved, and despite my best efforts, they have followed me. I don't have an infestation yet. So I am going to be trying Cimexa. Will be using a face cover and rubber gloves, and will apply under the bed

Id like to know how the Cimexa worked out for you. I read a peer reviewed article that said it had a 100 percent mortality rate after 4 days of exposure in the lab. It also said that they’re basically aware that cimexa is harmful to them and they begin to move slower through the product and try to avoid it when possible. I am using it now. Has it worked out for you?
I'm catching bed bugs with those sticky traps. Then I just watch them starve to death. Every morning I wake up and say "good morning" to the starving bed bugs. They are slowly dying from hunger and I'm loving it. If it takes a year for them to die then so be it. It will be a glorious year.
Bring back Sulpher candles! They kill anything that needs oxygen! Yeah it stinks. But that can be rectified by using powerful fans to blow all that smell out the windows!

My approach to bugs (ants, fleas, pincer bugs) has always been similar the photos at 10:12 and it has always worked spectacularly for me, using anything and everything, from baking soda, borric acid, flea powder to even bleaching cleanser. I've never have bugs return to one place a second time, since some of the powder that fell into the carpet, crevices, space under the appliances, etc. stayed behind and blocked their passage. Bed bugs are a different challenge, since they can hide in a convenient (for them) place and keep attacking the same host; blocking the path to said host would not be quite as easy with Comet cleanser. But I'll keep creating barriers wherever it's useful to keep them from spreading. I've saturated the one chair where I detected them with poison and put the cushions in my car, not to return until they've been baked in the sun. Seems that Vaseline mixed with various irritants (soap, bleaching powder, etc. ) is the most promising way of treating any hiding spots that can't be effectively dusted with DE. Hacking these things is what's worked for me in the past, and I'm not about to change if the alternative is a $1,500 heat treatment. PS: I started watching this as the foggers I set were finishing up, so the damage is done, but I didn't see any evidence of a big exodus, so it might not be a big deal in this case. I seem to have caught this early and maybe there wasn't a big population in the first place. The ones I've seen seem pretty dumb and easy to kill. Speaking of foggers, years ago when I used one on a wasp nest in an attic, my late father's vacant house was crawling with half-dead wasps for a few days, but when I came back at the end of the week, they were all dead, so the fogger seems to have done its job.
Icing coffee beetles they were all embedded into my purse and I had little pearls on my purse I couldn't tell and look until I looked really close they were all in my bottom dresser drawer and I think I got them at a hotel. I just pulled a rat tail maggot out of me now how would that get him how would that happen between my breast

I can't find bed bugs anywhere! I checked my bed, under a few corners of carpet and mattress seams. Also looked behind some pictures, rugs i have on the walls and NOTHING! Yet, i have been getting bites that look like bed bug and or mosquito bites. Mostly on my arms at first but a few on my side, but, ankle and last night 3 in a line on my neck. That's the first time i saw a true line bite. So, i got a new couch and my new mattress is coming in tomorrow. I've cleaned and removed a lot of stuff from my apt. I've sprayed the edges with bug and bed bug sprays. Haven't done a bomb and instead had the pest control guy come in today and spray the house. He says his stuff is much stronger and will kill BBs and other bugs much better. So, i wait...! Good thing is my apt manager is paying for the pest control but i still want to know..WHAT IS BITING ME IF I CAN'T FIND BED BUGS, THEIR POOP OR ANYTHING?!
@@tiffanyweber3028 I treated my place weekly with the bug guys stuff and then used cima-x dusting on my carpets and everywhere on my couch and bed. I also have traps on the couch and since then no bites for about 4 months now. You have to jump on it as soon as it happens and make sure you can use traps on your bed and couch. Make sure both the bed and couch are away from the walls and no cords or anything is touching the bed or couch so they can't climb on. Treat both the bed and couch in every crack to kill them. Sadly you have to live like that so they can never have access to your sleeping spots ever again. I also spray the couch where i've been sleeping with ecco clean (eucalyptus spray) So far, good! If you get another attack you have to deep clean and dust the places you sleep again. It's only when and where you sleep that you have to worry.
Get checked for scabies. They are microscopic mites that burrow into the skin and trigger an allergic reaction that manifests as bumps, red dot trails and acute itching. They are usually spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact with an infected person.
I know this is an old post but if anyone can tell me if bed bugs are noticeable when you have them in your home because my daughter keeps getting bit every night wakes up with bumps three in a row or in a zig zag but I can not find the bed bugs I've searched everywhere in my home. Do they hide underneath baseboards ? Because they are not on my mattress or any of the furniture if we sleep on our couch she doesn't wake up with the bumps on her skin. I feel like if they are hiding in the baseboards I would still see traces of them right ? Its literally driving me crazy
If they are in the baseboards, which is possible, get some Climbups (bed bug interceptors) and place them under each bed leg. They will get trapped in the Climbups. If she is still is getting bitten then the bedbugs are hiding in the box spring or on the bed frame, you have to search more, they get into cracks and crevices that you would not think possible. Cimexa dust, Crossfire aerosol, Bedlam aerosol work well. Go To domyownpestcontrol, all one word and you can purchase products used by professionals.

@@Inertia888 Zip-up mattress covers, buffing upholstery with food-grade diatomite, bean-vine leaves (all work non-chemically and while diatomite makes you sneeze it is just seashell-dust and won't poison you), grow thyme pine mint lavender eucalyptus any strong herbs like that, rub glycerin soap around the legs of furniture, place them in tins (remove the labels) and caulk your baseboards and corners with a thin line of vasoline -preferably infused with herbs (vicks vapo-rub). They only nest in paper wood drywall cotton or linen, so don't worry about anything made of glass metal or plastic/polyester being contaminated. You can keep all your shit by just using diatomite and isolating your bedding. They won't touch anything that conducts too much heat or traps too much moisture.

having bed bugs first time was like in hell. i on the lights while sleeping and awaken throughout the nights with bedbugs bitting and im trying to kill them or killed them..losing sleep in the end. so my room was infested with bedugs...i kill so many untill i can sleep with lights off but 3 months later. and so i understand this insect...they are very resilients. i moved to new places 2 times and i found they still following me but this time ...a light work

I found a bug stuck on my sons armpit, can bed bugs stick to the body during the day? Would it be a bed bug? It was so tiny and when I squished it, no blood came out only like tan color I don't know what it was.
Bed bugs can stick to skin but so could any bug. Keep an eye out for red marks on the skin, and check on him at random times at night. Sadly, they are elusive in the early stages so it can get wors before you know what the problem is. Good
I found a tan thing and was not sure what it was, I smashed it between my fingers but it just kind of rolled into a shape, learned it was a bed bug that has not eaten. It felt a little like something that had been alive, like not dry or crispy.
A bed bug looks like deer ticks. They are oval shaped like tear a drop and are black. When you mash them they smear soft black streaks and and smell. I have been fight fighting them for 2 months. Some look like fleas the tiny ones do.

They favor those milkweed stickers that like if rub against but are black. They try and disguise themselves so they won't be killed. They will get into any clothes that are laying around. My brother in left shirt up here , I put it in the washer and they were loaded! I have put harris's bedbug killer all around my bed and around the bed on the box springs. A least I got some rest last night.
I’m finding bites on myself almost anywhere on my body. It’s not very many, a few here and there, sometimes 2 maybe 3 around each other. Most of the time it’s only one. I’m pretty sure they’re bed bugs but I don’t know. I’ve tried looking up bites but I’ve seen so many different things. The bites on myself even vary in look. Sometimes they’re clearly some type of bite, sometimes it looks like a spider bite, and sometimes also small white head pimples. I’m a hairy guy, so it could just be in grown hairs, but I read that the bites can appear as small white head pimples. I’ve also scoured my mattress and blankets but haven’t seen ANYTHING. While I was looking I got something that looked like a bite, I can literally just be sitting there, and a bite appears and I see NOTHING. Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t think so.
White pimple bite sounds like fire ant bite. To see if you have fleas. Get a bowl of water put a couple of drops of dawn put it on floor by bed. And put a lamp next to it. Fleas will jump in and drown.

I rented some heaters. Sprayed the edges of the room to make a barrier. Thank goodness we had mattress covers that stop bugs. Put all laundry in trash bags. It was kids room. Bought a steamer and 2 space heaters. Turned the car onto an oven w space heaters(cooked all couch cushions) steamed most of carpet and all furniture. Its been about a month. No signs yet

While this may not get rid of them in their entirety, it is extremely satisfying to do. I only wish the bed bugs would scream in pain and horror as they start to burn. Oh well. I will just continue to imagine the screaming while I smile and giggle as I look down on their burning corpses. (It should be obvious at this point to see that I have a rather severe hatred of bed bugs.)

A multi use steam cleaner and a vaccum works best in my experience. It's the only thing that has been able to kill them and the eggs. Heat treatment is the best way.

I bought a McCullough. I alternated steaming one day then vacuuming the next. I find the little round nozzle works best. Haven't seen any bugs but still treat about once every 2 weeks just for my own sanity!

I literally starved them. I wore vicks vapor rub all over every night for about 6 months (they can go for about 5 months without feeding) and then i stopped just to see what happened and I never got bitten again. It's really so simple. They will not come near you if you are slathered in vicks vapor rub lol It is a 6 month commitment but it works to starve them to death and it's way easier and cheaper than doing all that other stuff! adult bed bugs can live over a year without eating. And starving them can encourage them to seek out new food sources which may be your spouse, kids, etc.

The only facts I need to worry about is the FACT that my method worked for me. You can starve them to death. I doubt they can go a year without feeding and still live. It's probably a website that is geared toward fear mongering in order to help the pest control business. I went to several sites that ALL said the average time a bedbug can go without feeding is 3 to 5 months. And given that my method of using vicks for 6 months ended EVERYTHING, I tend to believe those sites that I used. You look really stupid trying to argue with someone who tried something that WORKED. Take clothes out put them in large lawn size garbage bags... twist twist twist top than tie it in one solid knot very tight solid knot. Do not drag it and puncture the bag.
Just get a new cheap laundry basket put ur cleaned laundered Straight outta the dryer clothes and towels ur gonna use for a couple of wks in the new basket Store it in ur bath tub for at least a month. Do NOT sit it in the floor when bath tub is n use. Sit it across the sink or top of closed toilet lid.
Take and wash all curtains store n the a sealed trash bags after treatment
Just clean clean clean
Dont forget you may suck up the eggs in the vacuum cleaner.

My daughter got BB and we found out and RESEARCHED it on their site and also clicked on their site to locate an Exterminator that is licensed n qualified to apply it. It wasnt cheap BUT it wasnt to expensive. AND it killed them. So just ck it out and make an informed decision before spending a penny bc so many “claims” are out there. Best of luck to everyone fighting them. Its awful to bring one home.

I had bedbugs. I treated them. I saw dead bugs in the corner of a kitchen counter. Humm, interesting. I had carpet beetles too. The house is wall to wall shag carpet. Had tropical rat mites in the past. Looks like all of that is finally gone. Tempo SC ultra and Permethrin 10 took care of all that. I live by myself. The fumes of this stuff was horrible. It actually made my eyes and cheeks burn for a couple of days. I did leave for 6 hours and do several rooms at a time. The whole house was done in 4 days. Tempo doesn't recommend floors being treated, but all the carpet was sprayed. It suggests crack & crevice only. I have sensitive electronics and musical instruments. I did not want to use any type of foggers. This worked, but it irritated me for about a week. Follow ups if necessary can be done at half strength. So far, I haven't seen any returning bugs.

I have lavender, I'm into essential oils. But there is so Little on the Internet about this. Just says they don't like it. Please help. I have taken some with me unknowingly from another place, it was very stressful, but did not realize until day before moving to new place that they were begbugs. I left furniture except my 4-5 wicker pieces. I heated and kept my clothes in begs, but they have re-appeared.

You know what I learned from this video. If you get them then your totally screwed. Throw clothes in dryer. Store them in plastic bags after out of dryer. What a way to live.
She's not saying "don't" use, she's saying, don't "use" incorrectly! Firstly, what works in Florida wont work in Michigan, as well as, apartment complexes versus a house. I've never even seen one until a person came to stay and 2 weeks later (I have a dog who went back and forth from their room to mine) I saw a bug crawling on my bed. I covered it, had him come identify what it was, and i won't go into detail any further as to what took place regarding that incident! I research everything, first needing to know everything about this bug, everything about what kills them, and finally, where I was regarding infestation. I know getting whigged out would cloud my rational thinking but take it from me, not whigging out is the hardest part of a bed bug problem. By whigged out I mean, creepy crawly feelings, imagined itching and the very few instances that send your ass whirling out of your mind, seeing one. I have seen 4. I have not looked for them on my matresses after intuitionally knowing to get the covers. I wouldnt go there. Whether you look or not, COVER your matress' period. Every matress. I bought matress covers for my couch and loveseat. Duct tape the zippered end! That my friends is step one! (IF YOU HAVE AN INFESTATION WHERE YOU SEE THEM WITHOUT HAVING TO LOOK, YOUR SCREWED, CALL AN EXTERMINATOR) Until you know the schedule of your bed bug (which they mostly come out in the dark, hence bug 2, they can and will adapt to your schedule. I am on third shift as you can tell by the time stamp! By now you should know what rooms are harboring these bloodsucking ****ers cause your vacuuming at least 2 times a day immediately disposing of the canisters contents. If you dont have a bagless vacuum, I suggest that be the next item to spend your money on! Continuing on, foggers and sprays. I bought black flag bed bug aerosol spray and Adams mist spray (only at Walmart) and Adams foggers. I have not used the foggers again knowing the bugs you'd know that they'll pretty much stay where they are comfortable and can feed. Foggers I deduced would make them go into the walls and scatter hiding where they can hide. You dont want that. This is what she means by "dont" use. Bug 3 and Black flag. Yeah, it killed on contact after dousing it and leaving a wet circle of spray that made me cough, couldnt spray it all over like on carpet and around baseboards, on furniture..... the smell makes you cough, not good at all for your pets! Don't "use" aerosol Bed bug sprays. And finally, still vacuuming 2 times a day (yes, you have to make it a second job and diligence is control) Adams mist spray, is by far the best I have used. Before going to bed I do a vacuum and I am down to 5 days before I get a bite if at all, I will do a complete spray of carpet and around baseboards, inside closets for good measure, etc. I cant say they are gone cause bug 4 was so tiny, but it bit me for its first and its only time before I killed it. Bugs 1 and 3 were almost adults, bug 2 was a teenager so to speak, and bug 4 as I stated above. That my friends is where Im at today. Her don'ts she explained as best she could. As a person who has them, I think I explained better!?! I hope my comment is helpful.
And one more thing, sometimes we cant get to the dtore right away..... baking soda around the bed, alcohol for immidiate spray, and they cant stand tea tree oil, lavender oil, peppermint oil any of these you can line the outer edges of your matress' and on your feet cause they will live in carpets, hence the vacuuming, and I have put oils on my foot and ankles and rubbed it on my dogs! Thank you for being my only reply and question! I never had another bed bug. It's been over a year as I recall that nightmare, and I am proud to say, I have no bed bugs! Those were the only bed bugs I seen.
After a year, I removed the covers from my furniture, vacuumed all the baking soda out while looking for any dead bugs and proud to say, I seen no bugs. Whether those were the only ones or there were more and they died elsewhere, I hope to never know! Of all the money I spent on foggers, sprays, oils, etc. - Adam's spray (non aerosol) and baking soda were the best weapons against bed bugs. Your timing, diligence and immediate action with the right weapons not only took care of the bed bugs before they could infest, but there's not an insect in my house! I still am at the same house obviously! The amount of soda, length of time it's left in your carpet, your mental and physical condition must be in control and fight mode cause you will be at war! I was the terminator for real! 😆 And I believe I really did have those 4 and I won! I also believe I was more anal than a normal person should ever have to be, but I don't have any bug problems. I recently had a pipe burst in the crawl space and I went into freak mode cause I envisioned an army of silverfish, ear wigs, centipedes, spiders, and any other damp dwelling bugs invading the inside of my house! Adam's spray is my go to! It lasts up to two weeks. I haven't had to spray twice!

so i recently got bed bugs and been killing them with DE, i was looking all over the net how to get rid of them, i came across this one site where it says if you cover yourself like a burrito with a rather large blanket it could help them to not feed on you since they wouldn't like to do much work. I also put gloves on my hand's high socks and a beenie at night over my head. I tuck in my pjs and pants legs in my socks and i tie my hair back and rub Vicks and put de next to the couch while i sleep, it seems to work some nights. but Vicks does help with them not really biting but i pull down the beenie on my nose and it does seem them to not come to attack me as much as before we also got rid of the carpets but before i put de everywhere and it worked. I also went out to get those childproof outlet covers and put de inside so if they come out they would be covered in that stuff. I also painted the plate around the outlet so it can get stuck or they wouldn't be able to get out through those plate things. i got rid of my dresser and will get something with a medal so it would make things easier for me to catch them. i also warped my mattresses in a heavy tarp with shipping tape that is strong. the box springs and I inspect them each week i make sure they're not going on the seems of the bed. I put de on the frames of the bed and put the mattress on top so if they squeeze through they would have to go through that stuff. i will not rest till i have rest.. i have also painted my room, they hate the smell. and paint your furniture, i heard the first thing people do when they get a house is a paint, it kills germs and such because they don't like the smell and seels the bugs in the holes. if you have an apartment just paint the walls the same color and it could help

Yep I had them and bought a gallon bottle of Green Bean bug killer and it indeed get rid of them. I did however stay in my little camper for a few months then sprayed and remained out so no food for them. then returned to my domain and saw the ones I did see were very sluggish and I resprayed a perimeter around my bed. They are totally gone after a few months. I have my home back

I could not work out where the bed bugs were coming from so I set up my phone to record and I found they were living in the carpet and they were appearing and disappearing as if the carpet was water, even though my carpet is not that thick but i also had a shag rug beside the fire again i set up the camera and to my horror it was like watching zombies in the living dead they were not one inch of the rug that was not without the bed bugs,

What about carbon dioxide traps ?
If the carbon dioxide trap is near the bed (basically fermenting yeast with a tube connected to a dish bugs cannot climb out again) then it provides an attraction to a false host as the bugs are attracted to CO2 ?
They are basically only good for a detector. The bugs will be way more attracted to you than the trap.

before I researched this problem more thoroughly I was going to try 6 kerosene heaters, 2 on each floor--big house!! Well, the lab tech in me asked what was the flash point of kerosene!! I could have blown up the house. That would settle that.

After suffering bedbugs for months, I finally found salvation through lightly dusting all their hiding places with diatomaceous earth (non-edible version). It's truly the most effective solution, and cheap too.

It says that this is amorphous diatomaceous earth known as Silicon dioxide and an attractant. It doesn't say what the attractant is? Did you do anything else? Of course I will thoroughly clean bed, vacuum everything, do the sockets too with this earth. I'm also going to buy a bed cover for bedbugs. I did my clothes (heated in dryer 40 minutes at high), don't want to do this now though. I'm sprinkling it on my wicker furniture as well. vacuum every day and read on how to get rid of them. My goddaughter had to throw her couch set away and we haven't been bit since. I've been staying with her for 2 months and haven't slept at home but I checked the traps and there were a lot in them.
I've changed the liquid twice and both time quite a few in trap. the next step if I get bit again is to clean every corner of the house and steam clean the furniture.

Yes, yes I did! Diametric earth powder from home depot. I put on a face mask n just powdered the entire freakin apt, closet's, drawers, clothes - everything!! I know is not safe to breathe - but I had no choice. Anyway, I saw them day after day come out w/ the powder all over them lol. They don't die right away w/ the powder but a few days later they just explode from the inside out. Especially between the wood panel floors - I packed it so that u only saw white powder between the cracks ... the next day I saw the powder was like blown out - them trying to push up n get out. I saw them crawling on the walls w/ getting away w/ powder on them. It took almost 3 weeks for me to finally not see anymore. But seeing the white powder on them was very satisfying, I must admit.

I had bed bugs where I used to live, no chance of getting rid of them. My mattress and mattress cover was covered in bed bug shit, and dried blood spots. Those buggers are nearly impossible to get rid off. I would turn my bed inside out, kill any with spray that I saw, I had interceptors at the bottom of the bed legs. I have moved, and despite my best efforts, they have followed me. I don't have an infestation yet. So I am going to be trying Cimexa. Will be using a face cover and rubber gloves, and will apply under the bed

Id like to know how the Cimexa worked out for you. I read a peer reviewed article that said it had a 100 percent mortality rate after 4 days of exposure in the lab. It also said that they’re basically aware that cimexa is harmful to them and they begin to move slower through the product and try to avoid it when possible. I am using it now. Has it worked out for you?

I'm catching bed bugs with those sticky traps. Then I just watch them starve to death. Every morning I wake up and say "good morning" to the starving bed bugs. They are slowly dying from hunger and I'm loving it. If it takes a year for them to die then so be it. It will be a glorious year.

My approach to bugs (ants, fleas, pincer bugs) has always been similar the photos at 10:12 and it has always worked spectacularly for me, using anything and everything, from baking soda, borric acid, flea powder to even bleaching cleanser. I've never have bugs return to one place a second time, since some of the powder that fell into the carpet, crevices, space under the appliances, etc. stayed behind and blocked their passage. Bed bugs are a different challenge, since they can hide in a convenient (for them) place and keep attacking the same host; blocking the path to said host would not be quite as easy with Comet cleanser. But I'll keep creating barriers wherever it's useful to keep them from spreading. I've saturated the one chair where I detected them with poison and put the cushions in my car, not to return until they've been baked in the sun. Seems that Vaseline mixed with various irritants (soap, bleaching powder, etc. ) is the most promising way of treating any hiding spots that can't be effectively dusted with DE. Hacking these things is what's worked for me in the past, and I'm not about to change if the alternative is a $1,500 heat treatment.
PS: I started watching this as the foggers I set were finishing up, so the damage is done, but I didn't see any evidence of a big exodus, so it might not be a big deal in this case. I seem to have caught this early and maybe there wasn't a big population in the first place. The ones I've seen seem pretty dumb and easy to kill. Speaking of foggers, years ago when I used one on a wasp nest in an attic, my late father's vacant house was crawling with half-dead wasps for a few days, but when I came back at the end of the week, they were all dead, so the fogger seems to have done its job.

I can't find bed bugs anywhere! I checked my bed, under a few corners of carpet and mattress seams. Also looked behind some pictures, rugs i have on the walls and NOTHING! Yet, i have been getting bites that look like bed bug and or mosquito bites. Mostly on my arms at first but a few on my side, but, ankle and last night 3 in a line on my neck. That's the first time i saw a true line bite. So, i got a new couch and my new mattress is coming in tomorrow. I've cleaned and removed a lot of stuff from my apt. I've sprayed the edges with bug and bed bug sprays. Haven't done a bomb and instead had the pest control guy come in today and spray the house. He says his stuff is much stronger and will kill BBs and other bugs much better. So, i wait...! Good thing is my apt manager is paying for the pest control but i still want to know..WHAT IS BITING ME IF I CAN'T FIND BED BUGS, THEIR POOP OR ANYTHING?!

@@tiffanyweber3028 I treated my place weekly with the bug guys stuff and then used cima-x dusting on my carpets and everywhere on my couch and bed. I also have traps on the couch and since then no bites for about 4 months now. You have to jump on it as soon as it happens and make sure you can use traps on your bed and couch. Make sure both the bed and couch are away from the walls and no cords or anything is touching the bed or couch so they can't climb on. Treat both the bed and couch in every crack to kill them. Sadly you have to live like that so they can never have access to your sleeping spots ever again. I also spray the couch where i've been sleeping with ecco clean (eucalyptus spray) So far, good! If you get another attack you have to deep clean and dust the places you sleep again. It's only when and where you sleep that you have to worry.

Get checked for scabies. They are microscopic mites that burrow into the skin and trigger an allergic reaction that manifests as bumps, red dot trails and acute itching. They are usually spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact with an infected person.

I know this is an old post but if anyone can tell me if bed bugs are noticeable when you have them in your home because my daughter keeps getting bit every night wakes up with bumps three in a row or in a zig zag but I can not find the bed bugs I've searched everywhere in my home. Do they hide underneath baseboards ? Because they are not on my mattress or any of the furniture if we sleep on our couch she doesn't wake up with the bumps on her skin. I feel like if they are hiding in the baseboards I would still see traces of them right ? Its literally driving me crazy
If they are in the baseboards, which is possible, get some Climbups (bed bug interceptors) and place them under each bed leg. They will get trapped in the Climbups. If she is still is getting bitten then the bedbugs are hiding in the box spring or on the bed frame, you have to search more, they get into cracks and crevices that you would not think possible. Cimexa dust, Crossfire aerosol, Bedlam aerosol work well. Go To domyownpestcontrol, all one word and you can purchase products used by professionals.

I have been searching and studying and watching and learning about these things like crazy for the past year, and it looks like no one has an easy answer. Right now, I am considering just getting rid of everything I own, and starting from scratch.
@@Inertia888 Zip-up mattress covers, buffing upholstery with food-grade diatomite, bean-vine leaves (all work non-chemically and while diatomite makes you sneeze it is just seashell-dust and won't poison you), grow thyme pine mint lavender eucalyptus any strong herbs like that, rub glycerin soap around the legs of furniture, place them in tins (remove the labels) and caulk your baseboards and corners with a thin line of vasoline -preferably infused with herbs (vicks vapo-rub). They only nest in paper wood drywall cotton or linen, so don't worry about anything made of glass metal or plastic/polyester being contaminated. You can keep all your shit by just using diatomite and isolating your bedding. They won't touch anything that conducts too much heat or traps too much moisture.
I got rid of a bed bug infestation in about a month's time after I did a bunch of research on the matter. I'm actually checking out this video for errors. She's right on everything she said. Bed bugs can stick to skin but so could any bug. Keep an eye out for red marks on the skin, and check on him at random times at night. Sadly, they are elusive in the early stages so it can get wors before you know what the problem is. Good
I found a tan thing and was not sure what it was, I smashed it between my fingers but it just kind of rolled into a shape, learned it was a bed bug that has not eaten. It felt a little like something that had been alive, like not dry or crispy.

A bed bug looks like deer ticks. They are oval shaped like tear a drop and are black. When you mash them they smear soft black streaks and and smell. I have been fight fighting them for 2 months. Some look like fleas the tiny ones do.

They favor those milkweed stickers that like if rub against but are black. They try and disguise themselves so they won't be killed. They will get into any clothes that are laying around. My brother in left shirt up here , I put it in the washer and they were loaded! I have put harris's bedbug killer all around my bed and around the bed on the box springs. A least I got some rest last night.

I’m finding bites on myself almost anywhere on my body. It’s not very many, a few here and there, sometimes 2 maybe 3 around each other. Most of the time it’s only one. I’m pretty sure they’re bed bugs but I don’t know. I’ve tried looking up bites but I’ve seen so many different things. The bites on myself even vary in look. Sometimes they’re clearly some type of bite, sometimes it looks like a spider bite, and sometimes also small white head pimples. I’m a hairy guy, so it could just be in grown hairs, but I read that the bites can appear as small white head pimples. I’ve also scoured my mattress and blankets but haven’t seen ANYTHING. While I was looking I got something that looked like a bite, I can literally just be sitting there, and a bite appears and I see NOTHING. Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t think so.

Bed bugs bite normally happen in about threes as they get disturb threw out the night.
White pimple bite sounds like fire ant bite. To see if you have fleas. Get a bowl of water put a couple of drops of dawn put it on floor by bed. And put a lamp next to it. Fleas will jump in and drown.

With all due respect, Dr. Jones should improve her lecture delivery. She sounds like she just woke from a nap, and needs coffee, "and such". Basically, to my mind, she tells the viewer. "Lions are bad, don't go near Lions, you can't kill Lions with a straw".. blah blah blah. It would nice if she offered some insight as to how to get rid of bedbugs. The video is too long and drawn out, as is her voice. :-|
