When you changed the fuel filter straight away said "We'll just fire it up now", I was thinking "Oh will you now" lol They can be a pig to bleed sometimes.

It is not at all necessary to pump diesel fuel into the filter. It is sufficient to fill it to start the car again without hesitation.

Easy start lol.. All you need to do is completely empty the fuel filter housing and clean it out then fill it up with fresh diesel.. Prime the fuel pump a few times with the ignition key and away you go

I would have done as you say however the ford focus 1.8Tdci vehicle doesn't have electric fuel pump only mechanical pump run by the timing belt also I did fill fuel filter with diesel prior.
Easy start was just to help a slightly weak battery.

that's not the case at all. The 1.8 doesn't have a pump in the tank, therefore, you have to fill the filter well and start the engine. It's not necessary to pump to fill, just fill.

i got p0089 error code on a 2006 1.8 tdci ford focus. fuel not coming into the filter. i cut under backseat to reach the fuel pump, in the tank is just the level indicator. where can i fund the fuel pump on it? or is it incorporated in the high pressure pump? thank you

It's a big unit on the side of the engine, there's no in-tank pump on these. They're about £400+ new.

Changed the filter, primed it and car seems to drive perfectly. Problem is, when I take a sharp corner to the left, it just cuts out and doesn't want to start again. Do you know why this happens? I have the 1.8tdci.

sorry about late reply but im unable to tell you exactly why this could be happening.
I did have a similar problem on a customers petrol fiesta and it turned out to be sand in fuel tank Malicious damage blocking fuel pickup.

Yep diesel fuel filters you really have to make sure they are so full that they leak a little whilst putting them together and crank the engine loads so can be a real pain to do. Good luck
